2nd Grow - SIP, KS5000, Banana Tropicanna & Orange Hill Special Photos

Changed nutes to the 1st leaves feed chart, I am fairly certain I'm going to get rid of the Orange Hill now, it's just too far behind and I'm not sure how the end product will be impacted but I may as well maximise the space as best I can with just the one plant which is really doing well.

Can I re-use the soil that the Orange Hill is in? Not sure exactly what to do with all that but really does seem pointless continiung to use nutes on it when I can prio the extremely big and strong Tropicanna Banana :)

Lesson learned... be careful with humidifiers lol.

I'm just waiting for node 5 to properly appear and I'm going to quadline her then.

Notes on environment currently: 65% rH/25c average

Yes. She's not big enough to have used any appreciable amount of anything in the soil.
Awesome, I'll put it to the side for now and use it for my next attempt at Orange Hill :D

Happy new year Azi all the best to you & yours.

Happy new year Wef and family :green_heart: Good luck with your new grow. Sorry that the Orange Hill didn't work out.
Thanks a lot Carmen, no stress, lessons were learned :))

Think I'm ready for quadlining? There's like 2nd branches coming through straight away on each node, this plant is absolutely flying.

Also just to verfify, the Coteleydon counts as node one for this purpose right? So right now I have 4 nodes with the 5th coming through I think...

EDIT: After reading through some more QuadSquad posts I can see that you remove the Coteleydon and 2 nodes above that. So I think I need to wait just a little longer for node 4 and 5 to grow out more before touching it :)

Correct. The coty's do not count as a proper node.

Awesome cheers :)

Do you think she looks okay at the moment? She is looking a bit droopy with some leaves almost in soil when I just checked the DLI so wondering if that's normal for this stage or if I need to think about filling the res up more?

The DLI is already at 40.5 and she seems to be basking in it's glory so on the lighting front everything is looking good I think.

Wondering if this is actually just part of their daily cycle? Lights off in 20 minutes so maybe they are preparing?

My theory on the reservoir is that, as long as there is something in it, more doesn't help do anything but raise the perched water table and if your plant isn't ready it could actually be less optimum.

If there is water in the res the plant has access to what it needs already.

And yes, they do tend to anticipate lights out by drooping a bit. Better to judge things during lights on, and maybe 15-30 minutes at least after they do come on.

Looking good and healthy, super thick stem already. The 4th node has grown out and the 5th node is developing so I think it's time to take the 5th node off? Then in 24 or 48 hours after checking response I will remove the bottom nodes I think...

Environment right now: 25c and 65% rH average with DLI around 42

Feed right now
:
Res filled up to 50% with full veg nutes (1.5ml/l Grow, 1ml/L Micro, 0.5ml/L Bloom, Fulvic, Silica & CalMag)

This is a legit question (not a suggestion at all)

If you added 10% Rh to 75% how would you feel in your environment?

Good or bad?

For me I’m thinking good getting it that low (75%! Its costing so much money that low) in veg 😅

But we’re growing totally different background environmental’s Just interested your’re pushing up or down or goldilocks 🤷🏽

So it's much worse for you because you need high humidity to offset the high heat, at 25c air temp (approx 22.5c leaf temp) I can run anywhere from 61 rH to 71 rH and remain within the correct VPD range. Ideally it would be around 2c hotter bringing the leaf temp to nearer 25c but I need to wait for my AC before I can do that as it would affect the flower tent too much.

If your approx 32c environment you'd want 71 - 79% rH for seedling/early veg and I think I read you have upto 35c temps so that would be 73-79% rH lol :D

It's a pain in the arse to fill up the humidifier with distilled water all the time so I try to get away with as low as possible to save on effort/money but honestly as long as your within the VPD range I can't see how it would make *much* difference to growth rate/size or anything... someone more knowledable might correct me lol.

And during the later stages of veg into early flower I will be reducing rH to 60% then 55% then 50% so my VPD is within 0.82-1.17 kPa range

Yeah so you have a pool of water and having to add humidityfairly cool. I’m dry as and hot and humid as a Swedish Sauna. So my targets (ignore the gas) are just totally different. .

Its the endless nuance a love.
Yeah the base humidity is 50+ here so I'd hate to think how much water you'd need to humidify if it's dry :D Massively different challenges it's very interesting!

I start at 28c and 80-90% outdoors. Wrap it in mylar and add electrical stuff like lights and dehumidifiers that pump heat!

SIP no way under lights. But I think I can make it work outside. Can’t wait - another week and she’ll be ready! So following you a along

So I've done the deed, I re-read the QuadSquad thread and the OP first strips the lower nodes and tops a day or so later, I've trimmed the nodes but now I'm feeling like I've miscounted lol... Do I need to take one more node off? The before pics are above and the after pics are here, when I counted a day or so ago I made it 4 nodes/5th coming through but after removing these branches I'm not sure if that's 2 removed or just one because the "Sub nodes" had started growing?

@Azimuth Sorry to summon you mate but any advice would be welcome, hopefully you can make out what I mean by the pictures, clearly I'm stoned as a mfer but I need a second opinion on whether I need to remove another or just top it now?

Pic from pre-snip, top at red mark?
