2nd Grow: Golden Tiger Solo Plant

Flower day 9, Veg day 54


Been changing the light output between 250W-400W depending on the temperature of the tent. When it's over 82 Ireduce it down to 250. GT seems to like it. She's now over 18" tall (I moved the light back up to 18" and she grew the same amount in 3 days...seems like I need to move it each day now) and over 21" maximum grow tip width. Before long, leaves will be on the walls and I'll be staking with bamboo most likely. FYI, I used diatomaceous earth in the last nute feed - it is pure Silicon DiOxide from dead algae shells. Seemed to strengthen the stems in my last grow so will continue since I have a 10 pound bag which will last my whole life I bet.

The other little girls are still chugging along as well.

DDA has grown another inch to over 9" now and I hope will more than double that height in total before we're done with her...

Auto Gelato popped out 2 or 3 day ago so I will call this day 2 of life.

And my clone top which is obviously now growing nicely will round out the gang of four in this go-round.

I don't think the other 2 clones will survive, but I will tend to them as if they will.

My GT Clone is looking like it's gonna be a cabbage, which is cool. I'll just veg her for a long time in a small pot until I'm ready to flower...or make her the mother.

DDA has grown almost 5 inches in 4 days...and is putting out more pistils...we'll see what happens! Maybe I'll move her to the stronger tent for half the day under the HPS and back to the CFLS for the remainder of the 18 hour days.

Flower day 13, Veg day 58

GT putting out about 18-18 bud sites that will be decent sized. I've trimmed a few small branches that weren't going to get to the canopy and she'll put more energy to the tops now. 20" tall at her peak now. She'll probably get maybe 6 more inches at most I'm guessing, if that. Which is all I've got for space anyway to move the lights up and maintain a decent distance from the tops.

Flower Day 15, Veg day 60

Didn't realize I could do wide-angle/fisheye on my phone!

Maximum height is 21.5" now, so she's still putting on 3/4" per day or so. With stretch probably finishing in less than a week, 3-4 more inches is just about perfect height. Any visible leaf damage is from my cat chewing. She's still banned. This grow has been extremely easy. I kept the temps low enough most of the time and the humidity as high as I could without supplementation. No bugs (knock on wood) and I've probably only removed 6-7 dead leaves and there's a few still under that fell off on their own. Everything remaining is nice and green. Gave a nice gallon of (brand new, just opened) MC today at 5g/G plus banana juice, molasses, Sea-K, SC and BE all in low doses. Figured I'd mix it up. Nobody likes the same boring meal over and over!

In the "veg" tent we've got DDA starting to take over now, still growing over an inch a day and up over 16" tall now. This can't continue much longer unless I decide to let her grow in between the lights, which should be fine I think since they're CFLs with less heat output. I can spread them out a little bit to keep her more than a few inches away until she runs out of height in the tent. :-0 I'm thinking she's probably got 5-6 inches more in her still to go so I'm not _really_ that worried... I'm trying to slow her height by pinching the stem like supercropping. Seems like it slowed things down in the GT tent...you can see the bruise in the second pic.

And my AutoGelato; I'm gonna call her Louisa, now at 9 days old.

So I may be in the tents a dozen times a day, but posting here takes a little more effort lol.

Everyone except my two tiny clones are thriving. I pulled them out and they had no roots...down the crapper.

Flower day 18, Veg day 63

I'll start with GT...if that's what she really is. Still looks indica-ish. Stretch has stalled it seems at 22". We'll see if she goes any further. It's appeared previously that raising the lights has given her oomph to grow more. I've got the lights now at their highest finally and there's nowhere else to go...19" away from the tops and will be getting closer from here on out. They were 2-3 inches closer yesterday, so maybe this will prompt her to grow a couple inches more for nice big colas. Buds are thickening up nicely and hopefully will be closing up the gaps in the next 2 months. Hard to believe there could be 8 more weeks of flowering in her...

What's this? Trichomes already?

DDA is over 19" now. She's gonna be a Charlie Brown Christmas tree from the looks of her. Hopefully MegaCrop will be thickening her up and giving me something tasty to smoke in a month or two... She could grow another foot in this tent easily, but the lights would be next to her top instead of above...right now she's about 3" from the lights, and I've been moving them outward as she grows to give her space between them.

Little AutoGelato still moving along slowly...gonna up the MC nutes on next watering. Been giving low amounts already in a few ounces of water every day since this is a coco pot that isn't holding a lot of moisture for very long...

And GT top clone is cranking away. Didn't measure but she's double what she was a week ago and on the path for doubling again in less than a week. I'll probably #quad her this time correctly as the mother ended up #hexsquad. I think she's already at node 5 or 6 so quad'ing will be soon. This is only a 1 gallon smart pot. Leaves are starting to thin out too, so maybe she'll end up like a GT sativa after all?

Flower day 23, Veg day 69

So GT is filling in nicely. I've taken a number of fan leaves off to let light down deeper below the canopy and it appears there will be around 16 notable colors with maybe 10 being large. I'm hoping I get 6-8 oz assuming 6-8 more weeks of flowering .

GT clone in back right above is starting to take off so I think I should start the #quad to give her more veg time. Auto Gelato in back left is also getting a move on. I gave her an increased dose of MC yesterday and it seems to have taken. She's like 2 weeks old now.

Flower day 31, Grow day 77


Oh my, I've been remiss in my updates! I've been taking pictures in the expectation of an update but never get around to it. The flower tent girl is cruising along although yellowing seems to be accelerating and I can't tell if it's under- or over-fertilized. I gave a single gallon of 5g/G MC which should be plenty to make a determination if she wants more or less. I also gave half gallon of plain water with 1/2 tbls of epsom salts

Magnesium deficiency? Nitrogen? Both? This is soil, so pH isn't important...it's buffered.

nutrient burn? tips of almost all leaves are brown less than 1mm

Overall pretty nice though! Still reaching for the light, she's just over 23" now so filling in the gaps for a dozen foot long big fat colas!

She's at 10" tall right now, so I'm assuming another 2-4 and she'll start showing sex. She was looking a little piqued and yellow so I upped her nutes to around 3.5g/G MC plus Sea-K. I basically have been watering down the container I am using for DDA to a lower concentration, so I've just been eyeballing it. The color is starting to get darker now, so I'll keep this level for another week or until I see flowerings start.

On 4/4 Little Gelato looked like this (7 days old):

GT is still gettin' her thick on...hopefully will double in girth on these buds before all is said and done, she hasn't gotten any taller in a week. We've now surpassed 5 weeks of flowering...possibly halfway there if she is really a Golden Tiger sativa. Sure doesn't look like a sative though, eh?

Flower day 44, Veg day 90

Well I have a feeling this isn't really Golden Tiger (like we all suspected anyway due to not even looking like one!! )

Seems like she's on the downswing or I am just screwing up something here. Just about all the fan leaves have yellowed and fallen off (those that I didn't remove earlier) and it's starting to get closer to the tops of the buds unfortunately. Leaf tips have been brown for a month now, so maybe she's been getting too much the whole time and this is a toxicity blocking uptake of nutrients?? I've tried more megacrop, less megacrop, extra nitrogen (fish emulsion), extra Bud Explosion, extra Sea Kelp, and none seem to have made any difference. Can't say it's accelerated or slowed down, but pistils are starting to turn brown so seems like she's just getting ready to finish. This weekend will be 7 weeks of flower. Other than thinking she was supposed to be a 9-11 week flower sativa girl (or longer), I guess it's time to start looking at trichs.

Has anyone had a deficiency (or toxicity) that sped up aging and maturation? I don't mind finishing off this grow...I'm actually getting a little bored and want to take the summer off from growing. Of course I've got 3 more plants in another tent to tend to though. Also, my son is coming to live here for summer term and I haven't told him about the plants yet, but that doesn't really worry me.

I also got my new light the other day which adds another 130W (total 240W HLG, 130W more than the TW600 that is) if I use full strength...moved the Mars TS600 to the "veg" tent (which is in my son's closet and will have to move, or everyone into the flower tent which is fine I guess.)

The other tent is still going strong. Maybe it's a light thing? Too much light in the other tent? IDK?

DDA - must be the green varietal or another fake seed?

Flower day 55

So it looks like we're at 100 days from the start of this grow and I can't wait for it to end! LoL

My son will be coming back for the foreseeable future so I gotta get the smaller veg tent out of his closet and will move everyone into the big flower tent to finish everything out. DDA and Auto Gelato will unfortunately not be getting the 16-18 hour days of light that they have since the beginning, but that will hopefully just speed them up. Golden Tiger will be going another few weeks I think maybe, but could be sooner. Saw amber trichs on the smaller sugar leaves but still appears that close to the middle they are still clear. Checking every few days... want to harvest this plant all at once instead of over a few weeks like my last harvest. Not knowing what this strain really is at this point since she doesn't look anything like a sativa, I want to get early harvest for a more cerebral high.

Auto Gelato (AG) has been flowering for less than a week now at 15" tall. I wasn't watching closely when she started, as I thought the drooping and leaf curling was some kind of deficiency or over fertilizing. I'm giving everyone about 4.5-4.8g/G of MC. Will decide in a week if AG needs more nutes. She's always been light green despite the level of mega crop, so is that the typical pheno?

DDA is coming along nicely now. The 24" tent is pretty full now but I will be moving everyone Monday into the one bigger tent. With harvest a few weeks away for GT and DDA they should be fine during that time being a little cramped in there. You can see GT clone has mostly stalled in the past two weeks... she's likely completely root bound so I will be up potting her to a 3 gallon fabric pot before the move. This was a planned stall to prevent the huge growth that I expect in stretch when she goes to flower.

Ok so I looked at the trichs today and there's significant amber on some seals and at least half cloudy. I'm cutting a few colas down for the early type high hopefully that's a little racy and cerebral. We'll see.

This branch after trimming is 77g ready for drying. I left a few small leaves on it but mostly 95% complete.

I've got them all moved into the 32 inch tent now and the light schedule is set to 13 on 11 off. I'm seeing pistils coming out all over the GT clone and the autos would rather have more light I guess, but this is an experiment again. The GT will likely be fully cut down or maybe another 4-6 colas next weekend so I'm not gonna care about the light she's getting.

My Auto Gelato (AG) has been looking strange since she started flowering and I'm gonna open another post asking what could be the issue. The new growth is all curly and seems like the edges are a little more ratcheted. If anyone watching has some guesses, I'm all ears!

I don’t remember what your medium and method is. What is that auto gelato growing in, and what are you feeding her, if anything?

Looks like she was just thirsty. She's in plain coco and getting around 4.5g/G of MC. Since the others are not just coco, I guess she was neglected one or two days as the water seems to evaporate or be used much faster in coco. She looks much better now.

New cuttings friday to make more room. Trichs are almost all cloudy now with some amber.

Total weight at hanging : 87g


I put the other cuttings from part week into a cob (24g) and the rest into cold storage and low and slow dry. After 1 day in the jar in the fridge or smells awesome. 87% humidity and 42 degrees. Will be leaving out to come to room temperature then back into the fridge.

Added another 2 large colas from GT today at 67g and 48g = 115g
