Re: Hash Smoke Report

MG_2704.jpg

Really enjoy smoking hash. These are from my first hash run using bag number 73. Dry ice extraction. Got 50.1g from 190g of trims and seeded buds. I'll be saving up all the sugar leaves for more hash adventure. :Namaste:

I still can't get over the 15 a G!!! Love the pic bro!!!

Lookin awesome bro! I always love checkin in on your journals man they're always so professional lol I have been checking out your breeding program too that also is looking great. Keep up the great work...I'll be up there with you soon hopefully

This guy made me get PhotoShop to try and keep up with great looking photos that he presents us with!!!

T12 I mean!!!

Photoshops excellent iv been experimenting with focus stacking, I focus the tip of the plant closest to the lens 1st, then focused in increments until focused at the rear, the 7 increments where then auto-merged, auto-blended, then exported using photoshop, resulting in a image in focus in more of the image.

Brilliant for macro shots of tricomes, 12 is probably an expert with this.

Plants are all looking good 12. It's nice that you explain how you decide to keep strains--based on how compatible they are w/ your system. It's important to keep in mind for everyone. Even if you have a killer cut, it may not work in your room, environment is just as important as genetics.....

Thanks Fratdogg223! Wish you could try some.

Bong hit of hash are nice, gittergreen. I have a limit and the rest are for patients.

Yep, that's my hash rule a 15/g cap. Thanks, astonr420. Isn't photoshop fun?

snowskate328, you'll love the dry ice method. I'm going to be playing around with other types of natural extraction soon like the bubbler water ice extraction for some full melt. Dry ice method will have ash. Basically we smoke the h and leaves the ash. For full melt it disintegrate into oil vapor.

Thanks, GodSpeed. They are beautiful indeed. For the macro shots I simply shoot as close as I can with the 24-70mm lens, shoot in RAW+JPG open up the RAW in photoshop, zoom in 100% crop the section I like to 900x600px (landscape). It's not true macro still this offer some nice closeups.

Thanks HighFlyin5 for checking out my work. The breeding program is fun keeps me entertained while in the perpetual motion of the grow. I enjoy all growth stages of this plant, but the breeding program allow me to discover strains. We'll discover something amazing in 2012.

Thanks OG13! Environment is the key to healthy growth which will bring out the full potential of the strain genetics. Having killer cut does not guarantee killer smoke. And killer smoke may not come from killer cut. Creating a new cross in my environment will have the new genetic more adaptable to my growing conditions. That's why everyone should take up breeding, you'll have a killer strain that loves your setup just the way it is. Adaptability is very active in this plant.

damn!!! it sounds like you have one of those really nice cameras!!! I only have a Samsung point and shoot digi!!! but its a 12.1 MP so it handles the Macro shots pretty well... but a Nikon is a camera that my heart desires!!!

Yes it is!!! but I have trouble understanding how to do a lot of it!!! if you have seen my photos in my journal, you can see all the little changes that I finally learn how to do... I don't have anybody teaching me, I am just using the good ol' fashion trial and error method!!! LOL

:peacetwo: Brotha!!!

If detection with FLIR is you main concern a couple things come to mind that might help...

First, I would run your lights during the day so there is less of a differential between the grow room and outdoor temps (you're probably already doing that), but that would take care of the warm months.

In the winter months, I was thinking...if you could add a second fresh air intake...that would allow you to add another fan and a wye to to your existing ductwork, and blend that cold outdoor air with the hot, humid grow room air before you exhaust it... Just a thought anyway.

:Namaste:

I searched and found out what a FLIR is, but what is a WYE? Nothing that I could find on Google made sense contextually.

Working on the new flowering room and flowering tent (71% complete), will have 10x10 of growing space (6x6 in the new room, and using the veg tent 4x4 to flower out more 1-2L). Every sq ft can hold 4 of 1L or 2L bottle so I'll leave the math up to you. :Namaste:

Is your measurement of 4 per sq. foot so low because of the crates you're using to hold the bottles? I use just the bottles, and get closer to 9. The bottles are 4.5", so a 3x3(9 bottles) setup would take up 13.5"sq.(only 1.5" over a sq. foot), while a 2x2(or 4 bottle) setup would fit in just 9"sq. 36 inches breaks down nicely into 8 bottles, so a 3 foot square area fits 64 bottles perfectly.

1 sq ft = 12in x 12in or 1ft x 1ft. 4 bottles per sq ft is all I can fit using the crates. They do come in handy when it is time to move the bottles around. I shift them in the tent so each crates gets a chance under the sweet spot. Even without the crates I still give them an inch of space between bottles, as the plants grow it will help with air flow and light penetration.

omfg! the "light brown sugar" looks amazing! and the pics are well magazine worthy to say the least! the plants look uber happy/healthy !! i wish my seedlings were so happy im having some issues i cant figure outi know you use coco, so i thought id ask what you do to prep your coco for seedlings, and if you have ever had this prob im having, they are pale, i posted on my new journal this morning, if you have time to take a look
it looks just awesome in here brotha:adore::thumb:

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be cryptic. Try searching for "duct wye"... it's simply a duct fitting that is shaped like a Y... they are used to transition two duct runs into one (or one into two, depending on your point of view).

New Experiment

I've been experimenting with determine sex while rooting out cuttings at the same time.

Most often we take cuttings from a plant that grown from regular seed, root them out, and put them under bloom to determine sex. Rooting can take 1-2 weeks to develop, add another week or two before seeing pistils or balls. That would take up anywhere between 3-4 weeks just to find out the sex of a plant.

We can put the mother plant in bloom and revert her back but that will create too much stress to the entire plant, increase hermie trait to activate. Best way is with cuttings, and even then as mentioned 3-4 weeks goes by before we would know.

My new experiment will cut the time of the whole process in half. Slice, dice, in half. I've done it before and still doing it till this day, and it goes like this.

- Put the rooting cutting under 12/12 from day one of rooting. Instead of having the light set at vegetative cycle (18/6,24/0,GLR) we set it at 10/14 or 12/12 and the cutting will flower reveling the sex of the plant while root at the same time. The cutting can be in aero/bubble/cup of water/rockwool/etc...it will flower at the same time as it root.

You'll see the sex within 2 weeks instead of 3-4 weeks going from rooting to flowering, this method allow us having it at the same time.

I only reserve this technique to determining sex on a new plant from regular seeds. Otherwise rooting out cuttings (known sex) normally under a vegetative cycle of your choice. :Namaste:
