2L Hempy Coco Coir

Quixilvir ~ Really? That's awesome. Can't wait! I like it so far. Short and dense. Got 2 mothers pumping out clones non-stop hope the smoke is good don't want to chop the optimal clone factories.

GodSpeed ~ Thank you. Hope I don't mess up the drying & curing lol. I do like the Pineapple Express for this run, the bud looks so good and quite dense loving it. Got the mother plant going and should be full speed in 2 weeks for non stop clone production.

~ Thank you guys.

4twenty4all ~ Looks like the plants are doing ok after the flush. I tend to forget to flush, so will make sure to do it once a week now (on Sunday).

bigirishdoode ~ Thank you. Can't wait to grow these out. The thing about breeding is we never know what the male contribute until the offspring is harvested...lol. Hope to lock in some desirable trait from ATA Tundra (fast flowering, short, compact, and cold resistant)

1L Coco Coir Hempy SOG

The saga continues...

Added 16 clones (multi strains) into the closet. They're in 1L (2L bottle cut in half using both parts).

Decided to try something different. Downgrade the size from 2L to 1L to save medium (coco coir) and to hope the plant stay shorter. In a month or so I'll be growing in my new room 15x15 addition to what I currently have going and with the 2L it will take up lots of coco. Testing out the prototype before letting it loose in the new room. I've included the rough draft design if you want to try it out. :Namaste:

Nice, Bro! :bravo:

In an effort to out-do this, my next SOG will be done in just the bottle caps!

On a more serious note...how's your drip system coming along?

They could get rootbound in the 1 L's, and you'll definately need to be watering every day, so the drip will be ideal.

Also, you're not gonna save any floorspace, although, I realize the objective is saving on grow medium.

If you wanted, you could always go down to some river and grab a bunch of river rocks and use them at the bottom of the hempys, then go with the 2 L's just to make sure you don't get rootbound. Just a thought!

First, I like to thanks Blue Planet Nutrients for sponsoring this grow. Using the 2 parts with Farmer's Pride bloom as bloom booster for the 2L hempy coco coir. The clones will be put in bloom after they have rooted in 4x4x6.5 tent, under 600w hps with no veg time. Inspired by 420fied.

Each week I'll be putting in 8-16 clones of various strains and will keep this going in a perpetual cycle. The tent capacity is 96 bottles. More lights will be added once the tent has 30 bottles or more. Not sure which strains will excel in this growing method, and environment. Let's find out.

Started off the transitional nutrient chart, with 10ml of part A, 14ml of part B, and 15ml of FP Bloom. This is my first time with coco coir and Blue Planet Nutrients. Excited to see the results.

Got the first 8 in. These are 1024 strain.

I'm digging the inventiveness, but after seeing how tight the root ball is in a 2L, I'm thinking you're gonna have issues with root space, but I definitely want to see what you come up with in this trial! I plan to explode my grow as well, and I'm not sure if coco 2L's will be sensible with the #'s I'm thinking of. A hydro/aero setup will save lots on media, and watering all those plants by hand would be insane. If 1L's work, that knocks out one problem. Have you thought of using regular 1L bottles? I know Polar makes 1L drinks - same height as 2L, just thinner

dude thats just sick! i am digging it big time!! and by using them in half you dont have all the tops/funnels to throw out! very eco friendly! and i think if you can keep up with the watering you will have a killer sog, i wish i had done that im struggling with space right now my closet is FULL and in nowhere near done with the stretch! i think i may have bitten off to big a bite lol its gonna be interesting to see how both of our projects go!! good job bruddah!!:thumb:

Quixilvir ~ Thanks for the kind words brother. I'm no pro. I got the vegging down now working on flowering (the hardest). ;}

Mr. Krip ~ Thanks brother. LOL @ bottle caps. I'm not working on the drip system for awhile until I start the new room. Right now the plants are getting homemade hand watering with the pump so I don't have to refill for each bottle. Hand watering is like a workout good for health.

I don't think they will get root bound in the 1L's. I've seen a grow with 20oz bottle SOG (rooted cutting goes straight into bloom with no veg time) and they finish without a problem. The very same grower have said that he kept re-blooming the same plants 3 cycle without root bound issue. He said, root bound is a state of mind…so testing out with 1L and see how it works. I hope to get 10g per plant. Thanks for the rocks idea, but I'm going to stick with the hydroton on top layer only not using anything at the bottom. Makes things easy when cleaning up I tend to reuse the rocks and picking them out after dumping the coco is a pain! Also I don't trust the water from the river and the rocks being in there high/low tides the chemical often don't get wash out for decades...I don't mind supporting the local hydro store, it's a symbiosis relationship we have with them.

blumpking ~ The link is broken I think because it's to another grow forum (which is not allowed here on 420 Magazine). Ebb n flow is ideal and will eliminate frequent hand watering and provide the plants with nute and oxygen all day every day. Not sure how I feel about having all the plants hydro I've done DWC before and the plant were stunt and dies after I change out the rez…using coco coir helps keep the balance of soil like and hydro. I'm not giving up the idea of ebb n flow just have to do some test run first.

Siscokid ~ Heh, welcome to the show!

SauronBlue ~ There should not be any root problem. I've seen SOG grow in 20oz bottle (16oz to be exact small piece on top removed for plant) and no root bound issue. The only thing that would kill them is the lack of water, which smaller container hold less and as plants gets bigger they use more. So daily watering (maybe a few times a day) is critical half way through bloom till finish. Right now I'm watering 88 plants and it's a joy. Once I get more funding I'll play with hydro SOG and see which is better.

Any mistake in hydro can be costly. I'm still trying to master the flowering aspect of growing, got the seedling, clone, veg down the flowering is where the cha-ching is. The reason I don't want to use 1L bottle itself is the top piece will be waste (unless I flip it over and use that as a funnel for the bottle with some hydroton on top to trickle down water) while the 2L the top and bottom is use. I buy them when I can't find any and 2L is cheaper for some reason.

Blue Planet Nutrients ~ Thanks Corey. I can't tell you how happy I am with the Pineapple Express. The previous grow was ok, this run is excellent, nug is very dense super sugar coverage. The only thing I'm not happy is I should of put in more of its clone, this batch I'm only getting 1, lol but the next one there are bunch more, and even more for the next next one. It works well with this system and your nutrients.

bigirishdoode ~ So far they are doing great. I actually want to go smaller, 20oz bottle, but that's going to be in a few weeks I need to start collecting some. I've seen it done and it can yield as good as 2L (based on the grower's results) but I still have to test it out for myself. I don't mind watering daily, I miss them and can't wait till the lights gets on. Even if I don't have anything to do in the room I just sit/stand and get mesmerized by its beauty and aroma. The flowering tent which have multi strains growing (over 10) and the soup of aroma is so strong I can't move. Good thing my DIY scrubber is holding up or I would be in big trouble. Thank you.

58 Days

Time for some update on the flowering tent 2L SOG! As you can see the plants towards the right are oldest (58 days) and the new plants are on the left.

Afghan Kush - Got this as regular seed from World of Seeds. This strain and pheno is very leafy, not much bud quite disappointing but hope the high is great. Anyway, I got some clone in the flower and that should be it for the strain. Already got rid of the two mother plants in veg and will not produce more of this pheno. If it's leafy it gets the boot!
MG_2207.jpg
MG_2206.jpg

1024 - This strain produce lots of resins. Though it stretches too much and falls over without stalk support and the bud is not dense. Tall + dense = great, tall + airy buds = bad. The same thing happen from previous grow (soil hempy) thought I could improve it with this new setup and nutrients but there is no change to the strain pheno. Also letting this strain go.

Pineapple Express - This is the kind of strain I'm after, high bud ratio to leaf. Dense nugs, super coated, fast flowering, stays medium short, and sweet fruit aroma. The mother plant is running full clone production. The mother was used in a few of my breeding program.
MG_2213.jpg

There are many strains to try out if it does not fit my criteria then I have to let it go. I'll get the same strain but from different seed bank. Not sure if it's the same strain since many seedbank uses the same name...Only keeping the best and discard the rest. More photos of other strains coming up soon...

Added another 8 clones to the closet. Testing out the new 1L SOG experiment. The command center indicate the following strains and their current estate.

Firestorm, Downtown Stumble, and Pule are from my own cross. These are feed once every other day as they grow bigger I'll switch to daily feeding. :morenutes:

So far so great.

hmm 20 ozers got me thinking.....see with my lighting, cfl ,height can be a problem,20oz bottles might be the perfect fit, i can do 12 at a time and maybe not need lst, topping etc. but i'll need a different strain than i have now,its a stretchy sativa dominate type, anyway , DUDE that p-express looks awesome! me want!! lol i also like hanging out with my plants im a bit of a geek that way i have african violets, tomatoes, all sorts of herbs houseplants, growing all over my house, by every window, under every lamp (all my lights are cfl) my gf sez we live in a greenhouse! lol good thing she loves em' too!! :peace:

T12,

a few years back I grew hydroponic peppers with 2L bottles. Root bound was not an issue and I think MJ would have no problem being twice the size of the peppers given the same chance. I sort of tweaked the system from hydroponicsonline dot com.
One year I used flood and drain and the next I used drip. Pea gravel and perlite. Peters professional 20-20-20 powder both times.
I think the flood and drain out preformed the drip, but It could also have been plants from different nursery or something else.

LeafLady ~ Thank you. I'll have some individual pictures of each strain soon.

Hash Hound ~ Sounds good. Have you use the flood n drain system for cannabis? I like the individual bottles atm when any problem arise they're fixed individually, and does not effect the whole crop with sharing reservoir. I'll get into this after a few 2L hemp SOG harvest.

T12

I have done hempy which is flood and drain to waste and that growth is awesome. However, I haven't used an automated flood and drain yet for MJ and can't wait to try. Partner wants to keep it simple, but I'm dying to try a few hydros. I already have an aquafarm I used on tomatoes I wanna try also. The tomato had awesome growth.

However,
