2 Plant Jack Herer Fem, SCROG, DWC, COB LED Lights

Looking so good today. That z7 has me believing. My roots after only 1 day look very much nicer and the plants look fantastic so I am into it. It's growing well and strong it seems.

As the lights were coming on:

The roots

It's amazing how nice and even it is! Also quick wrapped the res with some foil to help block out light. It's always dark inside but with the light it could be getting more than desired to the water so I wrapped to be safe.

Tucked down some fan leaves to expose some growth more direct to the light and lowered the left light a little.

And a question, found this when checking it all over, I assume it is just a dead leaf from poor handling or a nick of the clippers or something. Should I cut it off?

Probably redundant but they looked so good this morning after light all night. I hope it goes this smooth the rest of the way out!

what day of flower are you on now looks really good gonna get lots of bud on those girls

Going to call this flowering day 12. I sure hope so!

Nah, it looks pretty similar to yours, I think they are getting close to really popping out. I am noticing the bud sites starting to change.

So with your situation then, with 28 gallons, how do you adjust nutes more frequently and in the week to week changes to account for what it's happened to absorb vs not. Do you just have to look for signs of lacking something and then add on the fly?
I dont adjust, i just add nutes. I find a range the plants love it at and let it drop down 200 to 300 points and then i re-add 3g nutes worth back into the rez and continue this pattern until 30 days and i switch out the water. I judge it based on tip burn, if i see it i know the value im at is too high for the stage of growth and ill let it drop over a couple days and adjust accordingly by adding less nutes, then ill keep it at that value and re-adjust back to said value after a couple days. I do a water/feed/water/feed. So every night for me its add 2 or 3 gallons of water plus calmag, then next night ill add some nutes if the values has dropped from my 1100 point value down to mid 900's. If its high 900's or above then i just add water for the night and would do nutes the following night. I like to keep things easy. If i notice deficiencies then i up the max nute value (in my case 1100, so i'd start aiming for 1200 and see how it does).

Almost didn't check on them last night but so glad I did. Found the air outlet hose on the good air pump had come off and wasn't putting air into the res. Must have come off hopefully not too long in the dark. Thankfully I have 2 air pumps so the smaller one with the small disk airstones was still pumping to it wasn't as horrible. I really need to put a small clamp on it I guess. Rehung so there wasn't any pressure pulling down on the hose so that should take care of it for the most part.

Added a couple gallons probably of nute water this morning and a little ph up. It was at 5.65 this morning, was at 6.05 after which is good enough.

Also plucked off that little bud/leaf/whatever in the pic from 2 days ago.

Here is the start of F13. The stretch is for sure doing it's thing, it wasn't that long ago it was all even with the net. I think I should add on a second net over top this week to manage the stretch growth perhaps and to help expose lower nodes as it continues to rise up. Seem like a good idea?

Still growin strong and I think flowers are starting to come in a bit which is exciting. The stretch is certainly growing and it's way up thru the screen. Just been letting them go up with some fan leaf tucking and no trimming once or twice a day just to keep the light hopefully hitting everything lower at least a little bit each day. Learned it's a lot more brittle now though and have been trying to take it really easy on it.

Here we are on the start of F15:

And here it was 8 hours before that:

Now a few sites, these are looking good right?

Also just as a fun find, this stem top is funny with how it has grown with the node split with an extra bit of stem. Haven't seen that before.

Last thing, the two cuttings I took that I didn't put any rooting powder or anything on, just put into a cup of water and have been trying to keep it in ~18hrs of cfl or windowsill inderect sun. They've been in the water since I cut them on the 11th, so 1 week in and surprisingly aren't dead. The question is should I think about pulling them from the water and using a rapidrooter. I'd ideally like it to go slow if it does work and I could maybe come up with a small temp veg box while the real girls finish flowering. Interesting experiment either way I guess.

Lookin good! I wouldnt worry about light reaching inside the plants, there arent any buds yet so its just getting its final stretch in. Once day 21 hits you should see it with some tiny buds all around which is why day 21 is perfect for a final heavy defoliation.

As for the clones, i've never had to delay mine so i really couldnt say haha. I've always used the rapid rooter method.

This stretch is getting crazy. Had to move my exhaust filter and fan tonight to allow enough room to raise the lights over the next couple days. It's been growing a ton!! That defol on day 21 is going to be so rewarding!

Here we are on start of F18.

Pretty good, stretch started at the height of the pipe/net basically, it's been stretching alright!

Couple other pics from last night. Did a full res change, cruising at 5.85ph. That Z7 is awesome, I gotta say. The rest totally looks cleaner and my roots look happier than ever. Will for continue using that with any DWC.

It grew a little less today in the dark, so hopefully the stretching is about done. I was thinking about adding the second net, perhaps I still should for support. Those branches really grew!

Lights are at 13" and they seem happy so I guess I'll just keep it right there in the 12-13" range. Did find this that came with the lights. How's the spectrum look in the graph to those more in the know?

Still stretching at the end of F20 another inch or so today. Lights raised up. Added nute water this morning which it drannnk up, and added in another gallon or so though it had at least another gallon or two it could take. Flowers are coming in great all up and down the branches. I hope this stretch is over, I'm about out of room here without having to really screw with the exhaust fan/filter placement even more. Ph hit 6.1, gave it a little ph down with the extra nute water.

Crazy this is just two plants!

Stretching and bushy, scheesh!
20190123_210900.jpg

Yay, it's finally really starting!
20190123_210929.jpg

Thanks! Hope it still looks good after I hit it with clippers tonight! haha

Here's the measured stretch as of this morning, F21.
20190124_063442.jpg

well that was like 3 hours of overwhelming haha. I hope I did well with this flowering day 21 defoliation. There were a lot of leaves that were already toast or plucked/fell off when moved in on the bottom. Super good getting all this out for the airflow from what it was vs now.

This will be somewhat pic heavy, documenting how this defol turns out. I did do a like 6 more leaves this morning of F22 before the lights went off for the day to get a few I think I missed. Had to tape a branch that got bent and would have essentially supercropped, got it back straight.

The buds are already getting heavy for the stems, for sure going to have to add a second support scrog hopefully tonight. Overall I think it looks really good. They seemed to not be upset with getting cut back at least 6 or 7 hours after doing it.

Before defol , F21:

I took a before video too, not sure how to upload it in though. Might try to figure out adding that.

Pile o leaves!

Which brings us into the aftermath and into current state. Starting with last night towards the end of the trimming sesh.

So, from the pros, how's it all look? I did add like 2 gallons of nute water this morning and got the ph down from 6.1 to 5.8 so it should be happy there. The humidity has been fantastic in 30's-40's % and will be even better now with all the junk leaves out.

Beautiful defoliation :D
They will fill back in with the remaining leaves. What you can do from this point on now is if you remove anymore leaves as it's filling out, it's safe to do 1 or 2 a day or every other day.

I also see people saying to use Z7 in the res in like every journal so I ordered the 2 part of that as well. Looks like it can complement the Hydroguard and you can never be too safe with roots right? Plus with the little algae in the top of the rooter before making the new covers it didn't seem like a terrible idea.

The people at flying skull said using hydroguard and z7 is pointless as they claim z7 can do everything hydroguard does, and more. I emailed them to ask.

In my case i have a much wider range of water, 7 5-gallon buckets of water with a total of 28 gallons of water that is recirculating through them all. In your case, if i ever did a bucket like yours i would try for every 10 days and see how it goes. If it does fine i'd try for 15 days in my next grow. If weird deficiencies and toxicities starting, id know 15 days was too long. Keep doing it how you are, thats good for a first grow.

I haven’t fully dumped my flowering nutes once for a full change in 3 weeks. Just adding. No issues yet really. Just adding 10ml of 5 different nutes every 2 gallons or so. Caught a bit of burn early but nothing since.
