1st Time Grow White Widow & Seedmakers Autoblue

Im going to upload some pics in about 8 hours or so. I am wondering how am i going to know when a good time for harvest is. It says on the web 55 days from seed to harvest on the auto blue but my plant is at 56 days. Doesnt seem like its that big comparing to alot of other plants but it could just be the gennetics . But it also says 7-9 weeks flowering time so do i keep it on for 7-9 weeks and then harvest im a little confused on this. I still havent found a 30x mag glass in any store at all i might just order one from online because no store i have checked has one lol.

its hard to say, with the autos ive grown ive always got between an 5g dry and 28g dry, but the one auto you got their is pretty big so you should hit a couple of oz with it, its hard to say with the smaller one, it might finish at about 20cm high, or it might get as big as the other one, ive not had a big auto yet, mine have all finished below 1ft,

Soy,
I cant remember how much light you have now. Your white widow is tall. I'm jealous! Light penetration and amount work well for me. DonPaul has good advice on this subject. Gig does as well as ISmokes. Hope Im not leaving any of the auto growers out! I have 5 plants under light. One is only 2 days old. The other 4 are 35 days roughly. Im running 18 CFL's now @ 32 watts each 70/30 mix of 6500K to 2700k. 70% now 2700K as they are in flower. I still run the 4 T8's on the wall to add in side light. So my answer would be hell yes add some more light and tuck or cut some leaves! As long as your ventilation is good you'll be fine. Just adding 4 extra CFL's my temps went up 3 degrees. I had to rearrange my fans.

Well if there not flowering your good with the 6500k but I suggest mixing the spectrum. I run every other set of two when I mix spectrum's. I try and have 4 CFL's around each plant. Not sure what type of a fixture you have. I use power strips with adapters and Y spliters and 3 to 4 socket flat bathroom fixtures. This allows me to drop the light lower and get surrounding light at the top and better penetration down the plant. If you can go to an HPS then try it out. I have 0 experience with the big lights. I'm doing that next. Add lights if ya can. At least 4 for each plant and if you can get more on the side then do it. Just watch your temps. Check some of my pics in my album on my profile. I have some current pics of lights.

Good advice from spring on the lights. If you can, then by all means add some 2700K CFL's as well. A little fan blowing straight at the CFL ballast will cool them down and shoot the hot air off the plants. I made a very simple cfl fixture with a cooling fan very similar to spring's bathroom fixtures. Just a bar holding a few cfl's with a clip-on fan on one end blowing straight at the ballasts.
I would consider upgrading your bulbs to higher watts, then use your 23's as surrounding light from the sides/corners. 23w CFL's are 23w bulbs, don't pay attention to the 100w "equivalent" << they do these equivalencies from a human perspective. Does that make sense? To us, it seems like a 100w, but to the plant, it's just a 23W. More light is always a good thing if you have temps controlled. So if budget allows, and temps are steady, go for it man.
Just like spring, I can't offer any HID advice. I'll be switching to that in my next grow so we'll see :).
Happy growing buddy :grinjoint:
I'm not advertising my journal, but you should take a quick look or skim through it. I encountered some problems with lights/nutes/flushes and I was offered help by rather experienced growers. I think some tips on there would definitely help you out if you encounter any obstacles (hopefully not :) )..

PS: This is NOT from personal experience. But I think a 400W HPS will most definitely yield you more and better nugs. This seems to be the case in most grows, HID is what plants are loving most. Especially if you're looking for those dense nugs. The good word about HID's is that they penetrate and make your buds as crystally and dense on the inside as they are on the outside.
I can honestly say that my LED/CFL combo is doing an amazing job. I can see dense trichomes forming all over the buds inside/out. But my lights are set up to surround the plants with light, rather than shine from the top.
Cheers soysawce :grinjoint: I think your plants look beautiful! That widow sure is a stretcher ain't she lol? Auto blue looking good too. Keep doing what you're doing, your girls seem to like it. emmm.. + more lights.. haha :) happy grows buddy

just adding my 2 cents worth. if you can afford to get HiD then you should. penetration is much better with these kind of lights and is a lot less fidley than many bulbs. im a big fan of CFL's but if money was no issue i would be using sodium myself (son agro 430w bulbs to be precise), and then use cfls as side lighting with any temprature wiggle room you may have. swapping from 6500k to 2700k bulbs apost flower stretch.

eit: while we are on the subject, can we get some reccomendations for digi balasts pls?
