1st Grow: Jumping Into The Deep End, DWC

Thank you @Rexer and @FelipeBlu Alice has never been above 85% of the AN recommended feeding. Everything I have read indicates that I should reduce nutrients when nearing the end. Is that only in the last week? Even if the ppm is not dropping significantly do you think they are underfed? I will add Epsom with their feeding tomorrow. Do you think I should change the nutrient level as well?

The plant will naturally stop/slow taking up nutrients when it's life cycle is ending. Just follow your PPM and EC readings and taper off accordingly.
You'll see the bud swell, and pistils all or mostly browned. Around that point you want to keep an eye on trichomes.
I feed right till chop.
Hope that helps

Yes, you can reduce nutrients the last week, but as long as they are drinking heartily, they should be well-fed. They probably only need the Epsom - that will increase EC a bit - no real need to increase the other components.

That helps a lot. I will keep them where they are (+Epsom) until I see them start to taper off on their own. Thank you both very much.
For your first grow, they're spectacular!
Thanks Rexer. It is easy for me to see all the mistakes I made and miss the fact that this is my first grow, and they are beautiful plants. I just went down and sat with them for a while; the smell is fantastic. Thanks again for all of your help with this grow.

Water - Carbon-filtered well water (100ppm)
Grow space - 48x48x80 tent in basement
Extraction - 6" Variable Speed Extraction fan
Temp & Humidity

Govee made an update to their software - it now shows VPD! Right now, the bluetooth hygrometers are showing VPD but the wi-fi are not. Hopefully, Govee will load an update for the wi-fi soon.

Temps are trending lower outside and in the basement. I'm keeping the humidity very low in the last couple weeks of this grow which has pushed the VPD high. However, I worry much more about PM or bud rot than I do about the VPD at this point.

Alice and Demeter got new buckets, with .27 g/L Epsom salt. They really needed it too. The old bucket was very light, almost clear, and the pH was below 5. Everyone has a fairly fresh bucket now and the plants are still going strong.

When I flipped to flower, I did some defoliation. Not nearly enough. I started lollipopping Alice, but then lost my nerve. So, Alice is about 1/2 cleaned up, and the rest were left to go wild. And go wild they did. I will have a lot to clean up at harvest.

Since these plants are so dense and packed, it is hard to see anything below the top buds. Those top buds are looking great, but I can't wait to clean up some of the fan leaves and see what they look like. Here is one of Lorraine's outside buds.

I like the looks of that! Still another week or two? Now where did I put my patience???
:meditate:

Happy Growing.

Odd - mine’s a Bluetooth one, but there’s no software update :(

I am not sure when it updated. I just noticed it on the screen yesterday. Hopefully, it is being rolled out to all of their hygrometers soon.

I hope so!!!

Thanks @FelipeBlu I was surprised that the pH got that low that quickly. It was fine, going slightly lower, then it crashed. The new solution went in at 6.1 and should trend slowly lower. I am keeping an eye on it, though.

That last bud has me  and is definitely testing my patience!

Happy Growing.

Lookin great LKABudman, and I agree that bud looks delish!

That's pretty sweet it does the VPD as well!

Judging from the photo showing the pistils, definitely a week or two

@Rexer Thanks.

I agree, it looks like a couple of weeks. Kini, one of the Hindu Kush, looks the closest to me right now. She has more orange pistils and they are starting to crinkle in a bit. Of course, that is also the plant my wife is tending, and she love to touch her baby. Lorraine, the other kush, looks the furthest away. The white widows are in between. Trust me, I am checking them on a daily basis ;)

I was hoping to be able to harvest next week, as I am off work. However, they will be ready when they are ready...

Oh I'd be surprised if you weren't checking every night :laughtwo:

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll be ready the night before going back to work, as things usually work out that way

For a first grow, and hydroponic grow at that, you otta be proud of what you've done :high-five:

Oh, I am proud of this first grow. My initial goal was to learn as much as possible and to try to get at least one of the plants to harvest. Now it looks like I will be taking all four plants to harvest. And a decent harvest! Best of all, I have learned a ton and had a blast. Thanks to you and all the forum members that have helped out and encouraged me through this grow. Now, to take all this new knowledge on to the next grow :) And the next...

Happy Growing.

It has been a while since I have taken pictures of the individual plants so I took a few last night. Kini is looking the closest, but it still looks like a week or two...

Happy Growing.

Those look stunning! The only thing that has me worried is you naming them, and then later murdering them and burning them to a crisp. It becomes different when you name them :p
