1st Grow: Jumping Into The Deep End, DWC

Those look stunning! The only thing that has me worried is you naming them, and then later murdering them and burning them to a crisp. It becomes different when you name them :p
Murdering. Such a strong word. These ladies are not long for this world, as is the circle of life. However, they will live on forever... inside of us all ;)

Thanks @PlanetJ Have a happy holidays.

Happy Growing.

Thanks @Verbalist - Kini and Demeter sprouted on 9/15 & 9/16, Lorraine and Alice sprouted on 9/22 & 9/23. Switched to 12/12 on 10/22. So 13-14 weeks from sprouting and 62 days since the flip. Not that I am counting days ;) Hard to believe Lorraine was only 1 month from seed when switched to 12/12. Look at her now!
Happy Growing.

Here is a short video showing the plants yesterday. I will take more pictures and post again tonight or tomorrow.
Happy Growing.
Couldn’t watch without google/youtube acc

I’ll be watching that when getting on laptop!

For some reason YouTube decided that my plants needed to be censored. SMH.

Date: 12/28/21 - Day 68 of flower

Strains - 420 Hindu Kush and White Widow - All fem and photo.
Light setting and height - 400w LED Set at 100% @ 12 inches
Lux - 65000
Medium - DWC with Hydroton in 6" netpot in 5gal bucket
Nutrients - AN pH Perfect 3part
Water - Carbon-filtered well water (100ppm)
Grow space - 48x48x80 tent in basement
Extraction - 6" Variable Speed Extraction fan
Temp & Humidity

I meant to post this last night but the pictures took some time on my spotty internet to download. Sorry for all of the pictures but I wanted to make sure I was getting some shots of the plant and the trichomes. I am on day 68 of flower and was hoping to harvest this week. I am not sure that any of the plants are ready for harvest, though.

Alice and Demeter, the White Widows, are still having some issues. The top leaves are pretty much toast and it is moving down to the lower leaves.
Alice is the worst right now but her buds are still growing.

Demeter has the same issues just not as bad. She is probably the smallest plant but has some nice sized buds. She is having the same issue as Alice just not quite as bad.

Kini has the smallest buds, but she is also the most tightly packed plant. Her buds look the most done right now and she is showing the most amber trichomes.

Lorraine is the biggest. Her lower branches are getting so heavy that I keep going into the tent and finding them on the floor. I am tying them to the net to keep them upright for now. She is finally starting to show some orange pistils and is really bulking up.

The plants are ripening but I do not think they are there quite yet. I am seeing more orange pistils and cloudy trichomes but still a lot of clear trichomes as well. I would like to say they are done and harvest this week but it looks like they may need one more week. If anyone sees differently I would love to hear your opinions.

Happy Growing.

God those things are COVERED in frost!

Buds are looking sweeeeet :bravo:

But I’d say the foliage slowly getting end of their life. Indeed there is some late Mg def symptoms visible, yellow/brown dead spots and some of the leaves still having green veins.

Thanks @cjsbabygirl313 . They all look great but right now Demeter looks especially frosty

Thanks @Verbalist Do you think I should remove the dead leaves from the top or just leave it be? Do you agree that they all need at least another week?
Happy Growing.

That extended period of feeding with a low Mg content (only 5ppm until Dec 7) has taken its toll - Mg def takes a while to show up - and it is definitely here. Probably not much you can do at this point to turn it around - it will likely affect your yield some - but the buds are looking sweet.

Thanks @FelipeBlu I am not too worried about yield for this grow, and it was a good lesson. At this point I am just ready to move on to harvest. Any guesses as to how much longer I have on these girls?

So as I mentioned I'm technically challenged when it comes to computers moving posts around.
I screen shotted it I'll post the shot if that's OK.
Just let me know I can edit it.
Happy growing everyone.

Stay safe
Bill

Thanks for your help @Bill284 . While I was hoping to be able to harvest this week while I am off work, I am seeing the same things you are. I will wait a couple of days before checking again.

@Rexer I have a question for you: I would like to take the plants out of the tent and into a dark/cold place for 24-36 hours before harvest. I do not have an extra air pump right now, though. Can I take the plants into their final darkness in a bucket with a little bit of water in the bottom? Can I just leave it in a dry bucket for the 24-36 hours and just manually water daily/periodically? Or, do I really need another air pump. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Happy Growing.

Can I give this one a shot while we wait for Mr Rexer?
Led's degrade your tric's.
All you need to do is get it away from the led's.
Doesn't matter where.
A little incandescent light won't hurt.
No need to water anymore once you decided it's over.
Let her stay dry.
Tric's will swell while you wait to chop her.
Hope that helps.
Hi Rexer:ciao:

Stay safe

Sorry took me a bit to get back- but Bill's advice works and sounds perfect to me (not surprising, he really knows his stuff!).
If you feel the need to, you can just grab a bit of nutrients to run over the roots. But it's fine to let it run dry, she's gonna be chopped anyways.
