1st Grow - Ebb-N-Grow : Afghan Kush, White Widow, Bag Seed!

well me being a newbie i cant wait for that summary report and the things that u you would do different to make a better grow. the info is priceless. still in all great first run at it stink.

Thanks man. I'm making some notes, and after a week curing time in the jars, I'll give a smoke report and summary. I definitely learned some valuable lessons.

Nice haul SF! I plan on storing my stash for a while too, 2 more cycles and I can chill thru next fall :)

see ya talking non pc shows, my wife and I were watching blazing saddles the other night, talk about not pc but funny as hell...

Yeah VE. Just saw your pics. It'll be nice not having to hunt down "the man" to make a purchase. Here's to you mon! :ganjamon:

As for Blazing Saddles. One of my all-time favorites. Pretty much love all Mel Brooks stuff; History of the World, Young Frankenstein, Original Producers, even Spaceballs. Some real vaudeville type comedy brought up-to-date for the period of those movies. I'd consider myself definitely a movie/tv whore. I could go on and on with lists.

 "excuse me while I whip this out"

very funny movie.

The Sheriff is coming and he's a n-&*r! Or even the beginning when the Foreman tells them to start singing a song....Swing Low, Sweet Chariot. Some classic writing.

Dude, you got a BUNCH ' shit you can smoke. That's a STELLAR performance as far as I'm concerned. More Reps if I can and all that shit.

Thanks S!

I'm waiting to see what those Nutes do for you. I'd like to start to experiment a little.

I'm excited for your progress man!

Butch. Coming from you I really appreciate that! Thanks man.

Dang ur lowryders oversized my regular ww x bb plants which are in same grow-stage :D

Hey man. Welcome. I'm sure your gals will get much larger. These are only 23" tall. I hope you get some excellent stash from your grow man. Let us know if we can help at all.

Congrats on the two year stash Every one's dream. At least it's one of mine!:yahoo:

OMM. Yeah, I guess I'll have Hawaii in my "mind" for the next coupla years. I have some storage/curing questions that I'm going to post up in the journal here. I think you'll be in the same boat with your ladies in no-time!

Mahalo OMM!

Fantastic! Way to go SF, you definitely have the touch. Those lowryders are under a 400W right?
+reps brother

Thanks AG. I wish it was a "touch". It's just GH Nutes, GH EcoGrower, and a 400 watter. You SIR are a gentleman and scholar! Thanks for the compliment!

Curing/Storage Question

So folks, I have a couple of questions as it relates to the curing and storage of one's buds.

The dry lasted about 7-10 days, a few extra days were required for the "old skool" technique that was used with the White Widow and Clone. The dry was completed in The Rack that was in the grow room at about 60% RH.

So now they are all jarred. I'm not quite sure how often I need to "burp" the jars. So far I've been performing this (1x) everyday. I've been opening up the jars, after "shaking" a bit to separate the buds, and leaving them open about 15 mins. OB mentioned mold that can form if you don't burp the jars.

Is this process to much burping?
And how long do I continue this process? One-week? Three months?

Then, at what point am I safe to use a vacuum-sealer to bag stuff up for a longer-term storage?

Any other tips or tricks you guys are aware of? I've been told not to freeze the buds, but to store in a dark location. I assume the vacuum-seal is good for long-term?

Once again, thanks guys!

you can burp them for a week or so, and as long as it's not disgustingly humid out you should be good. more wont hurt though. a good general guideline would be the same amount of time it took to dry.

the only thing that sucks about vacuum sealing is it squishes the hell out of the buds. Good for long term storage because there is no oxygen to degrade quality. . . if you can get those vacuum sealing jars or tupperware so that they dont squish, thats better imo.

I have vacuum pump boxes that work pretty good, but lately they lose (gain) pressure over time, so they are only good a week at a time now.

Personally Id try to leave whatever you'll use over the next 6 months just in jars. . . if your storing longer than that I might consider the vacuum bags. cool, dark, and opened infrequently will keep the trics from degrading. but don't get too anal about it.

Oh perfect Wheel!

I'm going to have to combine this with your previous post on the harvesting directions and we've got ourselves a nice little tutorial.

On the vacuum sealer, was just planning on using the sealing function and not so much the vacuum portion, I'll just "squeeze" the air out of the bag. Kosher?

Wish I could hand you more reps man....Hope you know it's appreciated!

Hey SF,
For me there are several factors but I usualy "burp" the jars once every one to three days for about a week just to make sure there really is no more moisture in there. I also go by firmness of the buds and smell to tell if they're ready to be sealed up for an extended period of time. They should have lost all the grassy chlorophyl odor and the pungent skunk aroma should dominate. The texture should be likke that of a dry sponge when firm pressure is applied
Biggest factors for time and frequency of me having to burp the jars are bud density, quantity in the jar and size of jar.
Sometimes I nail the dry and i never have to burp the jars. That usually happens when I thought I had overdried the buds and they were all brittle when I jared them up.

OB.

Another fine piece of info! Together combined with Wheel's info, I think we have a perfect curing technique/testing method.

I have definitely wondered about that grassy "smell" you mentioned. I'll use that as a major "milestone" when determining a properly cured batch. I assume obviously they can always go longer in the jars, but this would probably be the minimum time they should spend in there.

Wish I could rep you too my friend. I appreciate and value the tips and tricks!
