1st Grow: Blue Dream

Flower Day 28
RH 40-50
Temp 68-80

Not a whole lot going on. Fed them their nutes last night. I have noticed some brown on the tips of a lot of fans. Couldn’t get a good pic. It started after the last defol so I’m kinda thinking maybe to strong on the nutes with less leaves but what do I know. Lol. I’ll keep an eye on it. Fed them last night and it’s not any worse today so hopefully it’s nothing major.....but eyes open! Here’s a few pics from tonight!

Looking good Mr. Magoo and your probably right about the burnt tips, i always back off my Nutes a little for a couple days after defo. Your doing great job though and you will be rewarded at harvest.✌️
Thanks EastCoast! Are you telling me....I may have diagnosed something correctly? Lol:high-five:

Your right. After a heavy defol I always back off on the nutes for a few days.

This brings me to a question. When I looked at heavy defoliation and schwazzing, they say sometimes that the fact the plant has less leaves she goes find the nuts in the ground. But at the same time I ve also seen written that when you remove a lot of fans, there are roots that are not used anymore and there is an overall decrease in root mass the following days. So this would mean less nuts are used. But they say to be careful and feed well because of the loss of fans and the fact the plant is going to have to take power from the ground instead of the removed fan leaves. So it s a bit hard to properly understand how it works well

Besides, the plant are doing great my friend @Mr. Magoo . The colas are developing at a nice and regular way. I m jealous. Mine have stretch a little bit again overnight and I just hope they will stop stretching and put all that power into growing buds! I m like you at day 28 and only few pistils

I've never heard that pruning a plant changes the size of the root mass. Is this cannabis specific? I used to take off 1/3 of the peach tree every year so wonder if that means it lost a whole lot of roots.

I go with fewer nutes for the next water because a plant with fewer leaves would uptake fewer nutrients as there is less plant to power. A few days later it's in recovery mode so I go back to regular numbers.

Can't find the article where I saw that. It was a pdf found on Google but wasn't cannabis specific at all. Don't remember on which plant it was. Maybe just grass. And they were explaining that above 1/3 of leaves removed, they could start to measure loss in root mass. It would be logical for me that a plant that has lost so many leaves won't use as much roots. Seems logical that less leaves mean less nutrient uptake as well cause less photosynthesis

Hi Magoo! Just having a look around as my search for Blue Dreams around the site led me here. I haven’t gone back for a good look at yours yet, I’m heading that way now.

I just wanted to pipe in to that conversation you’re having with @Asesino85 about the heart stuff. I’m researching this at the moment. It is known that some strains - so certain terpene profiles maybe - can cause what known as tachycardia (elevated heart rate) in some people. You’re not imagining it! So I’m trying to source some more information on it but you will sometimes see strain profiles mention whether it’s been reported to bring on tachycardia or not. There are no doubt terpenes that would reduce this effect too, and help to calm so I’m on a hunt for these, and plants with corresponding terps - it’s a lot of fun hunting!. My favourite toke at the moment definitely makes my heart race and that’s not good. But I love the high a lot, so while CBD can ease it, it eases the high a bit as well. Maybe their related, but like you I’m seeking the high without the tachycardia and so far what I’ve found out is that terpene profile is the answer :)
I’m thinking that blueberry is one that perhaps reduces it... so have you tried the blue Dream yet Magoo? I’m curious. I’ll have to check back through my notes (she says as if they’re something organised - they’re not:rolleyes:)

I haven’t tried the BD yet Amy but most of what I’ve read is that it isn’t very overpowering and often described as a mellow yet very functional high. And as for the tachycardia...yes it is very real. When I mentioned that it was in my head I was really meaning that a rapid heart rate and my valve issue aren’t really related. I have no limitations on activity or anything like that. I exercise often and spend a lot of time in the gym often getting my heart rate up into the 180’s. My cardiologist has assured me that this is perfectly acceptable and encouraged me to do cardio regularly. So yes...the tachycardia is real but the paranoia it brings on in my case is probably amplified because my mind goes to thoughts of unrelated issues. But also speaking on the tachycardia...a heart rate that is too high could be dangerous for sure. I have a fit bit and it often stops reading my heart rate when it gets above a certain bpm. I have had it get high enough while smoking that this happens. When I exercise it usually is accurate to about 140bpm and then it just shows dashes. So when I smoke and it cuts off my thinking is that it is above that number. And while at rest that’s pretty high. Then I find myself struggling mentally to try to calm myself physically. Takes much of the enjoyment away at that point. Sometimes though if there are other effects in play, such as amnesia lol, I can continue to enjoy an intense high. When I microdose I get to avoid all the negative experiences completely. True I don’t get as high, but that’s just one aspect of this plant, right. I get many benefits and still get high enough to enjoy a change in perception which has always been my favorite part of smoking. I’ve had many epiphanies that have altered my life while using cannabis. There is definitely a spiritual aspect for me that I often find myself seeking out. That is one reason I’m eager to try the cobs. I’ve had several what I would call psychedelic experiences from smoking herb. I hope to experience that with the cobs. I just hope I can avoid the paranoia on that journey. I’ve rambled now. Lol. Anyway...thank you so much for stopping by Amy! I always enjoy your thread and your posts on others as well. If any of you don’t follow Amy’s current grow, I highly recommend it. It’s just getting going really but is full of some of the best growers on this forum in my opinion. Lots of good info on different subjects there already.
