1080w LED Inferno

hey guys i am looking for a new air filter for my tent. i want something thats gonna be lite weight and of course filters the air really good, cant let any smells out thats for sure.lol

their is a certain filter i like that will work great in my tent because its small and light weight, anyone ever used these or knows how good it takes out the smell? Elf & Goblin Air Filters

i am also looking at these ones to. any info would be cool about filtering of smells. Hydrofarm - International Grower Supplies IGSPF126 Phat Filter 12" x 6", 275 CFM

funny you should post that I have looking at filters and fans today. Phresh filter i think is the best one. looking at A Vortex 4inch fan also.

Is there somewhere on here that shows how to hook them up in a room ?

ive heard Phresh filters is a knock off of phat filters but i dont know for sure just what ive read somewhere.

I am sure if you do a Google search u can find pics of hooking them up?
i am not to sure what u want to know exactly? but you have ur filter then you hook up ur ducting to the flange on top of the filter then run the ducting to where you want to vent out, then have ur exhaust fan hook up to the ducting the out the room. some key tips. the shorter the ducting the better, exhaust fans are better at sucking then pushing air, so having it close to the exit the goes out of the room is a good idea. heat rises so hang ur filter up high in the high temp months, and down low in the colder months to bring down the hot air if needed. make sure ur exhaust fan does exceed the max CFM of the air filter, better to have a bigger CFM filter then the exhaust fan.

I think you are right about Phresh being a knock off. Found some more info

Percentage of open air mesh—the inner and outer cylinders of traditional charcoal filters are made of a perforated metal mesh. Depending on the quality of machines available to the manufacturer, the percentage of openness versus percentage of metal (closed-ness) will determine what percentage of the total volume of air being pushed into the filter makes it easily to the charcoal for filtration. The more metal in the way of the air, the less the filter can clean. Phat filters have a 53% open air mesh. Phresh, Rhino and Dragon have a 51% open air mesh. CAN filter and Pro filter haven’t made this knowledge available to me so I cannot comment on those two brands.

Phat Filter

I did find some good pictures of filter set ups too. I like to see different ideas before I decide on what I will do LOL

ive been using a phat filter for my exhaust and has worked great for smell. my other grow that failed smelled really bad and it kept the smell out

some key tips.

Also, don't send the hot air from a HID light through the carbon filter and the filter will last longer.

make sure ur exhaust fan does {...} exceed the max CFM of the air filter, better to have a bigger CFM filter then the exhaust fan.

{...} I asume you meant to type the word "not."

also, if you can, keep your runs as short as possible and use semi-flexible aluminum smooth duct wherever possible instead of the flexible accordion stuff.

If I remember correctly, the ribbed accordion stuff produces 50% more static pressure than the smooth stuff.

Switching to semi-rigid duct dropped my temp by 2 degrees.

Is that like single-wall vent pipe?

Probably made things a little quieter as well.

It's this stuff:

Shop IMPERIAL 4" x 8' Semi-Rigid Aluminum Duct at Lowes.com

Probably made things a little quieter as well.

It did, but what really quiets things down is when I connect the ducts that vent straight up through the ceiling into the attic.

It's already a quiet setup, but when I vent into the attic, I can't even tell if the fans are running over the other ambient noise from the circulation fans, LED light fans, etc., and the ambient noise level is very low.

good to know, thanks for the info

yup meant to say not.lol.. thanks

wow never knew that, thanks. i like that hose also because they dont blow out like the other ones if their a bend, i use to have to replace them all the time. the one i got at HD or lowes is insulated and works great. never buy ur vent hoses at the hydro store its a big rip off, always at a hardware store.
Is there a way to quite the exhaust? I think i read something about putting a shirt over the opening
when i used the insulated hose from HD or lowes it made things allot more quite. not to sure why you would put a shirt over the opening? that would just block the air flow and make ur setup less effective.

heres some pics, their blowing up huge since the temps have been allot cooler. the OC+ is taking off and loving the cooler temps, its been around 78-80F* the last few days

That semi-rigid ducting is great. Beats the accordian stuff hands down. Careful when you bend it though.

Pretty little pics, Irish.

Soon you'll have to start holding up gallon milk jugs next to those plants, lol. ;)

You might need that Asplundh wood chipper come harvest time, after all.

wow Irish, those are some shaggy monsters!

looks like the CRF's produce a lot of foliage around the buds, but not in a bad sense as it appears there's some very nice fat colas lurking under there.

I don't think you've mentioned what you do with your trim?

I've tried a few different things, and I like to make a run of bubble hash, then after the trichs are harvested, dumping the "expended" wet trim into a pot and making cannabutter.

The bubble hash is good, and the cannabutter process extracts the fat-soluble THC that's leftover in the plant material.

My cookies are very popular with my patients, so there appears to be quite a bit of THC left in the slurry after the bubble hash process.

as they say in the pig business, I use everything but the squeal, lol

I'd love to use it to cool my HID hood, but I don't think it's flexible enough to withstand repeated flexing from raising and lowering the hood. I know it would make a huge difference in efficiency.

If I had a setup with a static hood, or with a short range of travel, I'd be all over that stuff.
