so where do i begin? last year i decided id try and grow my own on a budget, so i brought my equipment over 3/4 months before christmas before even deciding how or what to try and grow. After a long search and various discussions i decided id like to go a little old school and try something that id not tasted in a long while and settled for White Widow X Big bud. i also decided that i would try my friends method of using COCO.
so i brought 10 seeds just before christmas and my friend started them off for me using the tissue method. this pic shows just after putting them in rockwool cubes.
i left them with him for around 4 weeks where they were potted on into cup sized pots ,nutrients started and brought on under a gentle 400w tube light, before picking the 5 best ones. 4 for growing and 1 spare and taking them to their new home and potting them on straight in to my massive pots. the spare did get put in a slightly larger pot. but only a 5L tall pot.
now this i thought was great however my uncle started making me doubt my process by asking why i was putting "all those chemicals in the water" and asking exactly what each one done. which at the time i couldn't answer. The only thing i knew for sure was that i needed to make sure the water was PH'd correctly and add my Dutch Pro A and B grow in equal parts not for getting the magnesium replacement.
so we decided that the spare would be fed just water out of the tap to see what would happen and i ditched the magnesium replacement. which had an effect within days... but as being very green to all this i didn't pick up on it quick enough and nearly lost my whole crop.
i have pics up till just before they start messing up as i was too stressed to take photos.
after a long search online and agonizing hours of reading i found some tests to run on one plant and thus realising i needed to up my ph a little bit and start adding the magnesium replacement as told to at the beginning... slowly they all started to turn around even the little spare that got really stunted because of being given just water straight from the tap. so i decided to keep the spare as i had brout it back from the brink.
so that whole process set me back 2 weeks. but i was able to start nipping them all out and really bringing them on.
i flipped them after 5 weeks of vegging and swapped over to dutch pro bloom a+b nutrients. i also started increasing the the dose slowly.
16/02/15 as you can see coming on nicely
26/02/15 wow almost doubled in size
31/02/15 - all the buds have now shown and are forming nicely.
more to follow.
