Wolfbuddie/unkown strain/started May 16th 2009

What stage do you think you will pick? What I mean is when the trich's are about half brown or are you going for full maturity? I've read that if picked fully harvested, plants can get a bit more body stone that head stone? Can't be sure, just something I read..

Fuuji, DG, I will be looking for anything around 50/50 or 60/40 milky/brown. Hopefully that will give me the best buzz and still be able to move somewhat. ;-) (I am already a couch potato as it is)

Obx, Thanks for the rep and stopping by. I really enjoyed your post on Soil, I am moving away from the MG potting soil and using a mixture similar to what you presented in the post. I have started a compost bin too, to try and make my own compost for use in the grow after next. :thankyou:

I was looking at the plants closely today and I see alot of Trichomes showing up on the bud leaves. Here are a few pics.

I noticed that on flowers at the bottom of the plant are showing about 30% red/brown pistils, while the main colas are still all white. so I guess my question is if the bottom flowers ripen first, should I harvest them before the main colas? I thought I had take a picture of them, but I guess I didn't, so I will have to wait until tomorrow to get a pic showing the change.

Wolfie,

The latest pics are looking really great. I read once here that you thought you wern't a photographer, haha, those days are over!! Your picture taking is getting awesome now!

I'm still waiting to see WolfieCabinets.com appear on 1 of the cannabis supplier pages!!
The effort you have put in gets 5 stars from me.

Great bud porn now, looking great! :yummy:

I would wait till you think the whole thing is ready. You could use one of the lower small buds as a 'tester' when you think your about a week or so from final harvest.
I would always recommend for a quick dry, rather than putting it in our oven etc, just put it under a normal desk lamp, or even on your ballast for a 12-24hours, then smoke it. Obviously your final properly dryied & cured harvest will taste/smoke/smell better, but a small taster done that way you'll get to know your 'stone'

:goodjob:

Fuuji, thank for the advice. I will probably wait until next weekend and then take a small bud from the bottom and quick dry as you suggested, then smoke it and see if it is an indica (which I think it is) or a sativa.

My plan is to continue with the Nutrients until about the 31st then give them 2 weeks of just distilled water and harvest them sometime around the 12th-13th. However, I may have to harvest a little early. I have been using the poor man's CO2 (yeast, sugar, water) and already have alot of milky trichomes. I will keep everyone posted.

I want to first apologize for my absence, but as always things come up in life that demand attention. (Oldest starting college, mother-in-law may have to stay with us, etc...)

I have been tending to my 3 plants and actually decided to harvest the runt of the litter now. I had taken a few small buds from the plant and did a quick dry and a smoke test on it. the plant was definitely an Indica strain. Even pulled this early, the high was a good head buzz with just a hint of couch lock. I really enjoyed it. So I decided to practice my harvesting technique last weekend and took the smallest one. I trimmed the fan leaves and hung the main cola up to dry and quick dried the small ones. Here's a few pictures of the cola after trimming, and during the week long dry.

I have already started feeding the next tallest plant plain distilled water for the last week, and I will probably harvest it either this weekend or next. My last plant I may let go another week on nutes and then go to plain water. with harvest set for the following week.

I will take more pictures during the next plant's harvest to see what I get off of it.

BTW, I currently am enjoying the fruits of my labor as I write this. RoorRip

Till then, :peace: :smokin:

Wolfie,

What is the taste and high like off this plant? It looks like a sweet taste, but I am not sure? Glad you are smoking up and enjoying your labours. What is next for your grows??????

DG, I was surprised by the taste, it was alot smoother than I expected. the taste was similar to orginial skunk. The smell is also very skunky. I know I still have 2 more plants to harvest, but if there results are anything like the first one, I will be very happy with the results.

I just can't say thank you enought to the people that run 420 magazine and to all those that are willing to share their knowledge and experience. :thankyou:

I may have to delay my next grow, My Mother-in-law has been sick and in and out of the hospital for the last year or so. This last trip just has taken so much strength from her that she needs to go to a nursing home, but there are no openings anywhere in the immediate area. So my wife and I discussed it and decided to take her in with us, until an opening comes up.

However, I may go ahead and start 1-2 plant grow anyway and just keep it all down in the basement.

But I will keep everyone posted. :peace

Mmm tastey looking stuff! Whats your 'drying area' like?

Keep up the great work Wolfbuddie! :goodjob:

Fuuji, Thanks for comments. My drying area is a coat and boot storage area under the stairs to my living room in my house. It was perfect. Wire racks to hang the plants on or lay them out on. Temp between 68 and 72. RH between 48 and 52% and dark.

Very nice man! Way to grow :rollit:

Thanks BUD, I am enjoying my first taste of the sweet life. growing your own. :yummy:

Wolfie, Will you try to build a single "pound off one plant cupboard"??

With the right height, ventilation, lighting, area cm3 etc, is it possible?

Would it have to be indica trait strong?

ScrOG would that be a requirement?

Let us all know your thoughts!!!!!

I doubt I will try a one plant supergrow, althought that was a thougth when I was building the grow cabinet, However, I think I would need some more accessories to try to pull that off.

On the next grow, I am going to work on LSTing the plants to try and get more flower sites exposed to the light. I am going to try and find a 250W HPS to add to the grow cabinet, if money is available.

as far as a ScrOG, I don't think I have enought experience under my growing belt yet to be that adventureful.
:grinjoint:

Well, This first journey is almost done. I harvested my other two plants this weekend and now have them drying in my upstairs closet. I have been enjoying the buds of my first plant after a week of drying. So, I thought instead of listening to a stoner go on and on, I would just post some pictures and see if they tell the story. I know the yields are not recording breaking, or even average, but for a first time grower any successful feels great.

I am sure that I will make one or two more entries in this journal before I call it complete, so enjoy. :peace:

Where they are now drying happily at 68 degrees and 48% RH for the next week or two. Then on to cure.
