Winter Weedy Wonderland - Auto Grow - Royal Queen Seeds

Happy Tuesday All. :)

Looks like late this afternoon I will have some appearances of the kids. The first one coming up is actually the slower cracking Goat'lato. Guess it's got something to prove. LOL

I have a time lapse camera set on them, but last time I tried that it just wasn't close enough to be watchable. We'll see how this one goes. The video cam is limited on the close up function.

First sprout is Goat'lato #1 The shell is as stubborn to fall as it was to open up.
At first glance I thought this was two sets of coty's there. It's weird looking.

Great job Goat’lato#1! Oh, and dear Lady too! :high-five:

Gosh I hope the video will turn out! I remember your two coty seed. That was awesome and you got two plants, which was so frickin cool! This one may have cannibalised its sistah on the way out! EEK!
Now don’t you go gettin any ideas, sistah!:green_heart:

Thanks Sistah! The video sucks. Really can't see things clearly enough to be worthwhile. I miss my old video cam, I could get some serious close up on a time lapse with that. Many years ago though.

The seed finally released it's hold. That thing had some serious membrane in it. Very thick stuff.
She's opening wide now and has three sisters almost out. Things are looking great.:high-five:

No, I'm not familiar with that. I'm going to look into it for sure. Bro says the batteries on them only last a couple years.
Was looking at the remote starts, wow...they get some money for those models!
Mine's 19 years old now and the battery I got for it was a gel type and costed over 200.00 then. On the good side, it's still on the same tender and starts the gen every time so far! That's an incredibly long life! I need that because I don't check it as often as I should. A tender extends the life of a battery as well as holding a charge.

YAY! new babies!

Good Morning all of you Weed fans! 💕

Overnight there was quite a bit of action. The Royal Creamatic is lagging behind getting out of the cube. I will keep the faith.
I have a swing lamp with a 5000K Led bulb over the tray. It's currently about 9" above the kids. I will adjust that as needed to keep stretch to a minimum. I'll probably get them in Solo cups over the weekend, if not earlier.

I need to correct the light distance on the post. It's about 19" away, not 9. Oops

 Lady:love:

Your kids are looking great! That Royal Creamatic does look a bit messy, but it may still come out of it. It looks like it’s stuck in its own amniotic fluid! Oh, guess that’s not how seeds work! Haha

Top of the day to you me Lady!

Royal Creamatic is probably not going to make it. I had to help the seed off yesterday, and the tiny little coty's never opened up. Just sat there with no growth or movement at all. The other plants are moving around and the first set of leaves growing a little, when I view the time lapse, this one is just nuttin'

I opened up the rockwool cube and the root is only about 3/4" long. Should be way beyond that. The other three were already sticking out of the cubes.

So, I dropped another seed this afternoon.
The rest of them are in the solo cups and under the ViparSpectra at 28 1/2" away, 50% power per Vipar's guidelines.
I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

Every now and then, I get a problem child. She's still in the cube, but I don't have any high hopes.

Years ago I learned a trick with Rockwool to get enough Oxygen into the cube. Rockwood can retain alot of water and works Best when moist not wet.

I would 1st soak the cube in relevant ph water/solution. Then grab the cube in your fingertips and give it 3 firm flicks. As the water is thrown out, it pulls O2 into the cube.

Personally, I switched to Root Riot Cubes made from Bark? They can sit in a shallow puddle of water, and maintain O2, where Rockwool with soak it up and push O2 out.

That has been my observation, anyways...

It's rare that I have any issues. I do have some root riot cubes around here somewhere, so I'll be using those for future grows. I'm down to the last rockwool cube. It's amazing how much water they can soak up, I have to squeeze them pretty good to get them just damp.
Interesting on the oxygen and the cube. I've not heard of that before. Thanks! :thumb:

Oh no! Hope it turns around. Mines doing fine, sorry to see your little one may not make it.

Well, I got one shot before the camera battery died. It's been one of those days, so I'll get more pics another day. I've added "generator" to my little black book of 4 letter words in the exceptions area. :lot-o-toke: And I'm STILL not done dealing with it. LOL

This is Royal Gorilla today.
I have another seed for Royal Creamatic germing in the last rockwool cube today. It got a good taproot overnight. The other one pretty much died, so I gave it up. I did the finger flick on the rockwool cube as @MedScientist suggested to draw in o2 to the cube.

Good Morning All!

Well, because I believe in full disclosure and showing the good with the bad, here's an update on what has happened.
I overwatered these kids without knowing it, because I wasn't checking the moisture or weight of those solo cups. Two of the kids came to a dead stop and started dying. On the 2nd, as soon as I saw how withered they were getting and lifted one of the cups, I knew what I did immediately.
I turned them out of the cups and found the soil to be completely waterlogged. I carefully removed the waterlogged soil and place the kids into fresh semi moist soil and back into the cups. The root was as long as the cup, but hadn't branched out.

They began to recover a tiny amount each day. You can see by the second set of tiny leaves, there is growth and slight improvement in the first leaves.

I think I've saved them. From hereon it is very very careful attention. Hard lesson learned to stop doing things in such a hurry because there are too many things on the plate.
Lost power again last night for a few hours during lights on time (they are on 18/6 schedule), downed trees...as usual.

I have faith that the girls are on the upswing from near death. These are both Goat'lato. The Royal Gorilla is doing fine, and I have a Royal Creamatic still in the rockwool cube coming out to daylight.

So, now we are reminded that things are not always Rainbows and Unicorn farts.
Sometimes they are more like Storm Clouds and Donkey Dung. :lot-o-toke:

But, we always have to look for the light. Here's Royal Creamatic #2 on her way up in the world.
I got the hairs on her chinny-chin-chin pretty good. :laughtwo:
