Winging It In Winter By The Window: Soil Auto Grow

Right 😂 the males "stick around to make sure their semen is used" lol human males would be in trouble if we did this 🤫😆.

And that's awesome...super proud of you.... Great looking plants and journal and a sponsor agreed :)

To bad you didn't have someone in a country they ship to that would work out the transport to you as a middle man/gal.
Wow, thanks Happy! :)

You know what, this country's bureaucracy and red tape is so dodge that I don't blame people for not wanting to ship to individuals here. It costs an arm and a leg, and then at customs you pay almost full purchase price for the import duties. I ship fabric samples in to myself and it takes about three months for the sample to get here and sometimes they don't make it and they have to resend. Big love to the world :green_heart:

Monday 8 Aug UPDATE

Only the two photoperiod plants remain now. They are both in transition and are showing some preflower. When should I start them on the bloom nutes? What counts as "early flower"?
Second question, which is why I have included video, is to know whether or not the lower secondary branches indicated in both canopies will make it to the canopy or should they be snipped off at this stage? Also, is the canopy of the BB#2 too crowded?
Harvest dates are set for 7th and 14th October and I am not sure what order it will be in yet. That will depend on the state of readiness of the plants. They both had cotyledons on 4th June.

Thanks for stopping by to check out the plants' progress and for the help! Have a great week.

Hey Carmen, nice healthy plants you've got going there.

If they were mine I would thin the canopy on the BB so that each mature bud will have some air space around it. Fewer but larger buds will be had that way. And I would also clean up everything on the lower thirds of both plants so each of the canopy parts look like they're on stilts. Much of that lower growth will produce small little budlets (sometimes called larf) that are a pain to trim and don't yield very much at all. Better to have the plant send that energy instead to the main buds.

One of the sponsors asked me if I wanted to try one of their lights but they don't ship to South Africa, so I don't think I am able to get sponsored products unfortunately.
I don't know if they still do, but one of them did:

I remember that. Things change.
I thought this was mostly a water-only grow with some microbes and stuff thrown in, so I'm not sure what you mean by flower nutes.

Even folks who are of the mind to reduce nitrogen in flower would probably keep including it during stretch. That stretch is putting out a lot of green which requires N.
I've been advised by a couple of growers to add booster nutes for flower either as a top dress or a drench, so I have purchased this stuff for drench as top dress is difficult due to the frame of the plant being so close to the soil, and the Carhooks. It says to start in early flower. Would I consider the plants to be in early flower nutritionally?

@Carcass , could I please impose upon you to look at the canopies of the plants and maybe mark the bud sites that I should select for removal in the Bruce Banner #2, and let me know if you think those shorter secondary branches on both plants can still make it to the canopy or whether they should go? I don't want to take the wrong ones off.

Calling the CarCanopy king! 🤴

We are like his loyal followers chasing that canopy! Lollll

Have you seen Adora’s?! Mint.
I have indeed... you and she have made exceptionally beautiful canopies! All hail the CarCanopy king :) :green_heart:

I would check with the folks who make the soil before adding a 13-21-77 product to it. First off, the plant will no longer be using any of the nutes built into the soil, and second that's a shit ton of potassium!

Thank you Shed! I will take it back. It's unopened. Heavens! I am so glad you spotted that before I poisoned my plants. Much appreciated.

Hi, Carmen- it's not an imposition at all!
I think I'd wait till after the stretch to remove more branches- other than the ones that you pointed out on the BB.
After the stretch, (which lasts apx. 3 weeks) anything that is more than 2" below the canopy could be removed- although, I leave some of the healthier looking ones that won't reach the canopy- as long as they get good light, they'll make pretty nice (but smaller) buds (there's about 15 of those on my plant)

And those taller branches on the WC could be supercropped, or pulled down to canopy level-but, pulling them down will make the plant wider, and you don't want that in your present situation, so supercropping it is!...but, I'd wait till the stretch is done for that too- the center branches may catch up to the outer ones, and you may not have to bend anything... (but you probably will)

So, other than a little lower clean-up, there's not much you need to do right now.
And I would also clean up everything on the lower thirds of both plants so each of the canopy parts look like they're on stilts

They're looking very good, Carmen- you're really doing a great job on them!

I have to go for a couple of hours, but please post up any other questions and I'll do what I can to answer them when I get back!

That is! I've ruined a plant with a lot less than that!

Thank you Carcass. I will wait until after the stretch. The larfy bits I'll do as they get easier to snip off in my daily inspection. I can't take any pics now because it's lights out, but I did snip off three of the shorter branches on the Wedding Cake, and I rearranged hooks. I pulled one branch horizontal and I expect it will reach for the light and develop a nice kink in the stem. I took a couple off the Bruce Banner #2 and I think I've done the right thing with those too. C'mon and stretch now planties! :)

Wednesday 10 Aug UPDATE

PHOTOPERIOD PLANTS

Today I top dressed with a product called Elemental Blend, which is a companion product to the Orgasoilux LOS. Then I watered it in, so that is why the plants are a bit droopy in today's pics. Can I call this day one of flower or must I wait for more pistils?

I rearranged hooks on the Wedding Cake, bending branches around the pot to reduce their height. I also super-cropped the branch that I had initially stretched out horizontally, as it wasn't bending back upwards.

I removed some of the hooks on the Bruce Banner #2 because they were loose and no longer hooking the branches. I can always go back with hooks where necessary.

Ooooooook nice clean up there.... Almost bonsai-ish....I like.

And when you have a full fuzzy top is when I call it "flowering" but she's definitely on her way.

Have a great day growmie

Well done on the defol, Carmen- those girls look great!

Can I call this day one of flower or must I wait for more pistils?
That's how I do it, but to each their own...
Like Shed said- they're gonna be done when they're done, no matter how you count the days... :)
