Wild Strain From The Midwest

Funny, I read about supercropping and wondered what they were talking about. It sounded like some exotic trellising process like espalier. Then I figured out that it is just pinching terminal buds to get more side buds. Turns out that I have been supercropping for decades now. And yes, supercropping is for veg growth to set up plant scaffolding for more terminal buds to get a higher number of flowering colas. It will also lower the overall height of those 13 foot Mexican sativas and make the plants grow wider and bushier.

In theory back budding will only make your buds more uniform and result in nicer looking nugs, and is typically only used for commercial production. It will not give you more buds or more weight, like supercropping will.
I totally thought the same thing!!! I was so intrigued, then I was like, "shit, I've been pinching forever!" Lol

I was planning on back building maybe a 3rd of each plant, hopefully to just help get some real thick colas.

I'm excited though, I really think these ladies are going make some beautiful flowers!

Carnivorous grasshoppers? I read that grasshoppers only eat plants.

Now I am wondering if vegans will become cannibals of other vegans?

What else will vegan zombies eat? Yeah, google cannabalistic grasshoppers. Apparently locusts and such are omnivores.

I thought supercropping was bending the stem. Compared to pinching, which is to pinch off the growth tip and cause branching.

So I I just never bent the branch over. I popped the wall and then let it ride.
Same thing, just different

Little update.

It's raining. A lot. Not like downpours in the south, rather like the soul crushing, energy usurping kind of rain we get in NW for winter.
Last year it came, and then never went away.
I'm ready for it this time though. Went in to the greenhouse and she's keeping everything nice and dry!!
Little chilly, but no condensation on the inside!

The trichomes are coming, the trichomes are coming!!

Super cropping can be achieved either by pinching or by High Stress Training (HST). HST is just another way of saying bending the stem. Like supercropping it sounds very sophisticated and technical. Essentially HST is an espalier. I have had problems with bending stems though. Cannabis grows upright for a reason; to shed water. When I have bent stems horizontally (under lights to create a higher amount of energy delivery to the plants) water tends to collect on the horizontal stems and not weep off, and the water causes rapid furry stem rot. Not wanted. So I pinch and re-pinch instead and force side stems to grow out and upward, resulting in more buds and higher yield. Both methods achieve the same results in the end though. Some claim that you have to stress the stem in the bending process, but I believe that is BS. The bending action forces the upper nodes to not get auxins from the terminal bud at the top, which flow down the plant with the force of gravity. As a result, side buds are promoted to grow. Which is the exact same thing that happens when you pinch the terminal bud; the auxins stop flowing and side branches are allowed to grow. Its the same in any plant, really. Auxins are plant hormones. The terminal buds in plants send out auxins to prevent side growth. Disrupt the terminal bud or block the flow of auxins by bending and you get more side growth. All this technical jargon of super cropping and HST is just hype for bending and pinching.

Is that what you think these are? Mexican sativas?

This bud structure is definitely something I've seen only a couple of times. BigSur, does this help give you an idea of it's lineage?

Gave the ladies 2 gallons of water containing;
12oz Big bloom
8oz Age Old Bloom
1tsp Big Bud
20ml Cal Mag

Interesting grow you have here, Mr. Waffle! Those are some freaky long-legged ladies. If/when those buds fatten up and get heavy you'll be tying them up, not tying them down. LOL. I'm looking forward to seeing these plants finish. Good grow!

Haha thanks rider, I had my reservations, but now I'm fairly certain these will fatten up.
This grow has been an emotional rollercoaster lol

I don't know if you've gone through the whole thing, but I've already had to start 'GI Joe LST' lol
Basically holding branches from the top of the gh.

Glad to have you here Rider!

Figured out the smell. Fruit stripes gum. The one with the zebra.
At least that's the memory that came flooding to my brain when I was in there this morning smelling them lol

Also I finally found a pic that looks similar to these plants. It was called Red Michoacán, but I can't really find any other pictures to corroborate the strain.
It would be rad if the color change happened on these ladies. If it's in there, it will come out with our nights in the 50's

Sup BW!

I have checked
Your grow out previously, just never sibbed in .

Your girls are looking beautiful and monstrous. In the best possible way of course .✌️

Haha no worries Muzzy!
You're here now

Thank you! Now is the plumping. Vertical growth has definitely been done for a little bit so their energy is going to the buds now!

So its windy as fuck right now.
I really think on thing that is helping my gh, is the vent I put in the roof.
Not only does it help evacuate moisture and heat; it allows air being forced in (wind) a place to escape.
The floor vents do ok, but the bouncing and 'breathing' are non existent. I am attributing it to the vent.

Living in FL you prepare for hurricanes. One of the main things you learn is to board your windows. Not only to prevent the mess of broken glass, but that is actually what pops off the roofs more times than not.

Since its not a crazy difference between pressure in my gh and outdoors, the air is just cycled right up and out of the greenhouse.

Really happy right now
