Who Let The Dogs Out? Chem Comparison Grow!

I got the information from Seedfinder. Unfortunately it seems they deleted all the older reviews when they updated the sight.
I will add that getting 100% purple plants from a 3 pack is incredibly fortunate. Even taking into account purple parents.

Yeah i agree that same stuff happened with the Peyote Cookies. Eventho the advertised pheno is the green one. All 3 were purple and Bubba leaning. It’s really strange man.

Quick question ...

Just how potent are the HCI ChemDog and HSO ChemDawg strains?

I'm reading the back of the package ... not recommended for inexperienced users!!! :)

I still love the wooden packaging ...

And the HSO Chemdawg is one of the best smelling strains I have grown so far ... and it is only in week 4 of veg!

lol, heed the warning! My Chemdawg hybrid last year was so strong that one night I took a big hit on my bong and the coughing and laughing attack afterward made me fall out of my chair! I actually tipped an office chair over and landed on my butt on the floor... it still hurts when I think about it. I have rarely experienced pot this strong in the abundance I had last year... and I found that I had to moderate myself.

Got it ... I was initially wondering if they were being funny and using it as a form of marketing :)

But really ... "what else actually happened to people" ... for HSO to have to include a warning on their seed packaging!!!

Hey everyone,

Just a couple of pics to share today. It is DAY 32 since germinating. I just did an update on all four girls in my journal, but here are the two Chem gals today. Started a bit of quad line training on the Chem 91 S1 today.

Chem 91 S1:

DinaChem: no tying down for her yet. Maybe mid-week.

Hope everyone is doing great!

Nice training!

Do you start with 12-12 and then work your way down to 6-18 by the end of Week 4 Flower (28 days after pistels)?
Thanks SQL... and no I wouldn't do that myself. 12/12 to harvest. The last couple of weeks the plants really start to bulk up. I'm no scientist, but I would think that reducing the light near the end may reduce the overall yield.

Looking great amigo!

I like the really wide fan leaves ... and some of the plants stay short and then take-off ... while other plants just seem to stretch nicely for training.

I started to read @Pennywise 's journal yesterday and saw he was growing the Chem 91 S1 also ...
I've only completed 10% of his story ... but I think he was doing a SOG and a Phenohunt or mothers ... two things I want to learn more about.

Thanks SQ... I'm happy with these girls. Much bigger range of growth habits across the four plants than in my first grow. Even the two chem cultivars are showing different styles.

Penny's journal is a goldmine for those of us learning and curious. I read it from start to finish over the course of about a week or two, a dozen pages or so each night. I highly recommend it and suspect that you will pick up a lot of useful info. Happy reading (it is long!).

Thanks for your feedback ...

This is actually one of the things I am trying to nail down ... lighting schedules ... well that and light penetration and defoliation ... both light topics though.

Here's the current link to an article that gave me the idea ... Flowering Light Cycle Interrupted- Here’s How to Deal with It

As you can see ... they discuss the following ...

The ‘Actual’ Flowering Light Cycle

..., let’s learn what the ‘actual’ flowering light cycle is.

Grow lights need a precise variation of grow light wattage and the light hours. If we divide flowering into a number of sub-stages, here they go ...

Transition > First Buds > Growth of Buds > Buds Ripen

Now here is the best light cycle for flowering at different stages-

Stage 1- Transition Period: 12-10/12-14 Hours of L/D

This is the time when plants transits from vegetative to flowering Stage and the light cycle should be 12-14 hours each day.

On a broad sense, it’s the first 1-2 weeks of flowering stage while plants enters into flowing from vegetative. The plants are still growing and so, the light cycle won’t differ much from what it was during the vegetative cycle.

Stage 2- Spotting the First Buds: 10-8/14-16 Hours of L/D

This is what we call ‘First Buds’ and this is the time while you’ll get to see the first flower growing up(only for female plants). The light/dark cycle should be around 10-8 hours and 14-16 hours respectively.

It takes the whole 3rd and 4th week to complete the process and you’ll see real buds instead of hairy pistils. The growth will slow down, and therefore, you’ve slowed down the amount of light and increase the amount of darkness.

Stage 3- Growth of Buds: 6/18 Hours of L/D

Now, this is the stage which we call the real ‘flowering’. The buds will be found growing up and maturing over time, and the ideal light/dark cycle would be 6 hours of light and 18 hours of darkness.

Why? Well, Flowers grow up because of the build-up of Florigen(A flower hormone). And upon many scientific experiments, it’s proved to build up when it’s dark.

Stage 4- Buds Ripen: 6-0/18-24 Hours of L/D

At this last stage, almost everything about flowering is done. So, no need to change the light/darkness cycle so much. You can keep the lights for 6 hours and the darkness for 18 hours.

Based on situations, some growers decide to provide an uninterrupted 24-48 hours of darkness to induce the ripening process.

For me ... I tried going to an "8/16 hours of L/D" after week 4 of flower in my current Bakerstreet grow.

I confirmed Stage 4 with @Emilya a few weeks ago because I didn't believe it ... but I recall she actually has it documented somewhere that this works ... so I've incorporated it into my skill set.

^^ yes ^^ what MJ said! :)
Thanks Bard,
I was in a hurry and never had a chance to respond to your pics. Simply amazing. I think you're gonna like this grow :)

I'm not sure how dry hempy gets but I know in soil we try and keep the fans off the moist medium to keep those leaves healthy. Something to keep in mind.

And Bard, not sure what I was thinking. My head is on other things. That's the gnat stuff I think you are using if I recall. Sorry about the hempy comment.

No worries! Yes, that is the Gnat Nix stuff - a layer on top of the coco. But your point is still valid - I will be removing those sagging fan leaves as soon as they get a bit more height and other "solar panels" grow in. The gnat stuff stays really dry - it doesn't "wick" like perlite, and the oscillating fans keep the leaves moving. Thanks for looking out for me, Sauga!
