Who Let The Dogs Out? Chem Comparison Grow!

Dealing with waste is touch for me mate. Much easier to just sit a plastic tub underneath, get an £8 pump, £3 worth of silicone tubing and ouila, home made recirc system with only small amount of waste once a week or so.
Saves a fortune on nutes too.
When I don't do that I do hempy or sometimes like now I just dump the 3gal fabric pot into a 4" tall bucket and fill it every time it gets empty.
I'm a lazy gardener these days lol. It works though.
2 nft reservoirs in there have only been emptied 3 times and topped up 3 times. Never ph or ppm adjusted other than on res change day.
And there's a coco plant in a bucket of water at iether side that gets fed whatever the reservoirs get. Canopy is 7x7x3ft high.
Lazy gardening is the way forward for me :)

It is working for you! Lazy is not a bad thing. :)

I was just reading more on the Chem-trail...

I saw a few articles that referenced Chem 91 as the parent to OG Kush, NYC Diesel, Headband....

I'm sure there are so many variants anymore, especially with the "pollen chuckers". It really makes no difference to me when it comes to a grow like this.

Any way we slice it, it's gonna be a great time & we will all learn a shit-ton.

Look at that.... I already learned something new about the lineage of different Chem strains...
:thumb:

I saw the same lineage reference when I did a quick search yesterday, and mentioned Diesel and OG Kush families in the heritage. Was on the Cali Connection site.

Just out of curiosity, I did a quick Google search...

Origins of Chemdog/Chemdawg:
Heritage (no serious source known):
Speculation 1: unknown indica strain (Kush, HP or NL?)
Speculation 2: Nepali x Thai
At a Grateful Dead show at Deer Creek Amphitheatre, joebrand (aka wonkanobe) and pbud met chemdog and sold him an ounce of very high quality pot for $500. Joe and Chemdog exchanged numbers and they later arranged for two ounces to be shipped to chemdog on the east coast. According to chemdog, one ounce was seedless and the other had 13 seeds. In ’91, chemdog popped the first 4 seeds. From these seeds, one male was found and disposed of (chemdog was young, you can’t blame him). The 3 females were labeled "chemdawg" (now '91 chemdawg), "chemdawg a" (now chemdawg's sister), and "chemdawg b". In 2001, chemdog and his girlfriend attempted to germ 3 more seeds, labeled "c", "d", and "e". the "e" seed never germinated, "c" turned out to be junk (according to chemdog), and chemdawg "d" was the keeper. In 2006, chemdog and joebrand reunited and joe was given 4 of the last 6 beans: Chemdawg phenos 1-4, "4" being the chosen keeper. Joe thought the "4" was the best representation of the original and thus dubbed it the "reunion pheno". Chemdog still has two seeds left in his stash.

Here is another link with a similar story, but with more detail about the origins of Chem. We cannot tell this story without mentioning the OG Kush strain . There are several theories about its origins: for some people, it is simply a sister of the Sour Diesel. For others, it is a self-pollination of the ’91 Chemdog selected in the Lake Tahoe area in 1996. Finally, the third and most widely accepted theory (Kailua Kid from Sierra Seed Company) tells that it’d be a cross between a Chemdog clone and a Lemon Thai x Old World Paki Kush hybrid developed in Northern California; this theory would explain the “Kush” in the name of the variety, while the “OG” would probably mean “Ocean Grown” (grown near the ocean).

Some Descendants of Chem:

OG Kush is a legendary strain with a name that has recognition even outside of the cannabis world. Despite its fame, though, its exact origins remain a mystery. Some claim that it’s a cross between staple Chemdawg and a hardy Hindu Kush landrace. It’s also possible that OG Kush emerged from undocumented bag seed as a distinct phenotype of some other existing strain. [wikileaf]

Sour Diesel Thought to be an accidental cross when the DNL hermied, Sour Diesel (or East Coast Sour Diesel, as it's commonly called) is a special plant in the OG Kush/ChemDawg line of strains. Its often "crushing" sativa effect actually seems to hit most people as more of an indica, increasing couchlock and being strong to the point of being overwhelming at times. The plant itself is a fairly lanky one that tends to show lots of foxtailing when finished, practically stinking up the room with its pungent fuel-skunk-citrus bouquet. Lineage unconfirmed, thought to be Original Diesel (ChemDawg '91 x [Massachusetts Super Skunk x Sensi Seeds Northern Lights] x DNL (Northern Lights/Shiva x Hawaiian)

From these sources, at least, it seems like the origins of Chem, as well as its descendants, are kind of murky. But as I said, I'm no expert!

Like @Preston9mm, I'd like to make this comparative grow open to as many folks as possible. So I'd suggest the following: anything with anything with Chem or Dog/Dawg in the name; anything with a strong OG Kush or Diesel component. Will that work for folks?

Hang on a sec guys. Are you saying chemdog is one of original, ground zero type strains? Nobody had even heard of it in Scotland till stardawg hit the streets 2 or 3 years ago. I thought it was just some new fancy hybrid stuff?
Yer mate chemdawg is one of the oldest man made strains. Again though its history is ambiguous. Definite afghan genetics but its also a hybrid so my theory is they (original humboldt growers) crossed the afghan indica seeds that that someone brought over with the sativa landraces from south america that they had originally been growing poorly (until they found out about seperating males and females to increase bud size and potency AKA sensimilia).
Total shot in the dark theory but still lol

Original Diesel: Chem 91 renamed
Sour Diesel: Chem 91 x Mass Super Skunk
NYC Diesel: Chem 91 x Mass Super Skunk x DNL

The most credible story as to the Origins of OG is it came out of Florida originally. Possibly Triangle Kush x ?

Shot in the dark but still garunteed to be closer than what I thought lol.

Anyone got some recommendations for the autodogs, which strain and which seedbank?
It's not a strain I've ever looked into (Obviously) but I've smoked some stardawg photo a few times and it nearly dropped me. Not quite Afghan Kush stoned but pretty close.
That's no good for me though . Good for my mates but I prefer autos for my doobies.
Be buggered if I'm paying for them though so I'll have to start sending emails shortly lol.
Oh wait shit....I've just realised.... It's the fuckin "chem" side were going for....
This whole time I've been only thinking of chemdog and assuming that was the same lineage as stardawg.
I'm following the dawg lol.
Fuck me I'm hard work sometimes like, don't know how my Mrs puts up with it

How about Dinachem? I haven't grown it yet, but it will be my pick for this comparison.
