Who Let The Dogs Out? Chem Comparison Grow!

Youngins are looking good!
Just have to do your research on rare cuts and find the best way to get them. I can find the cuts I want but the people who have them don't give them up easily.

Thanks Penny! They’re starting to get actually pretty big, three finger leaves are now as big as the one fingered ones, a lot of them are working on their 4th node now. I feel like I can tell which ones will be female just based on their vigor.

What would keep someone from wanting to share a cut? That I just do not understand. It’s like the phenomenon in my industry where chefs don’t want to share recipes. It’s such an antiquated way of thinking. The more we share the better the food gets for everyone. The same thing is true with cannabis.

They look fine dude. We've all been there with hanging height at sprout. Soon they won't even remember that horrible stretchy part of their childhood. :rollit:
Thanks brother MJ! They’ve got one more week in the cups anyway until they’re going into one gallon fabric pots, and I’ll bury them all up to their necks heh

Hi everybody. This group grow is looking to be epic and has finally brought Mj out of the shadows and into the, er, growlight! My first journal-like thing ever. A little scary but I know I'm amongst veterans. I'm not sure which strain I'm going with yet. I have a few packs from Greenpoint, utilizing their Stardawg male. But then there's this 6 pack of fems calling me. Sow us! Platinum Banana Dawg... Either way, this is gonna be awesome. Thanks to The Bard and those unnamed others for creating this.

Awesome! No need to be scared at all! Lots of really talented, helpful folks here will help if you just ask. And lots of other like myself who are still pretty new. So you have found a great home!

Evening, all,

Sorry for being away for several days. Ran into some moderate health issues last week, and ended up the hospital for five nights. Perforated appendix. Pain got quite bad. First time *ever* in the hospital for me, which didn't help the anxiety. Amazingly, they don't do surgery for appendix as much anymore just serious doses of IV antibiotics. I was drowning in the stuff. But it worked. Feeling much better now - pain dramatically reduced, all systems operating normally, just little weak and light-headed. But, man, the meds they gave me...yahoo! Painkillers, anti-anxiety, anti-inflamatories - all through the IV, so the effect was almost instantaneous. I kept saying to the nurse that dosing IV meds was like growing in coco, given how fast things work. I don't think she understood the analogy, but that didn't stop me from laughing my ass off. :)

Very happy to be back. Great to see some new faces joined in as well.

No need to apologize for that brutha! Glad to hear you are on the mend. It could easily have gone south so good you got it checked out early.

She was probably thinking "hmmmm, coco, interesting" and laffed her ass off when she left.
Get well man!

Your absence was noticed. You disappeared. I'm so glad you're back and on the mend bro. That's not a light diagnosis by any means. Lethal if left untreated actually. Your comment to the nurse is hilarious. More like dwc maybe.
So we all post here correct? Is a comparative grow a community grow?

Thanks MJ, and others. Yes, I lost a good friend when I was a kid when his appendix became infected and ultimately burst. Poisoned his entire bloodstream, with little to be done. That was kind of running through my mind over the past few nights. But they did catch mine early (and I guess mine was a perforation, so less severe), and tech/treatment etc. have improved. Whatever, it was a wake-up call, and I am grateful.

I have to plead ignorance on the comparative versus community grow question - not sure of the difference. Maybe @Preston9mm can clarify?

People tend to do this with "elite" cuts. They do it so that they have a better product to bring to market than others. If you have better smoke you are going to be able to demand a premium for it, or sell it more easily at the same price everything else is going for in the market. If you start handing out cuts of your premium herb, then ts desirability goes down and so does your ability to charge a premium. Also it will not move as quickly f there are a bunch of sources for it. With the market being the way it is now I am surprised that big name cuts are getting handed out as much as they are. Some times literally given out while others people pay heft sums for them. I have heard of people spending $500 for certain cuts locally and have heard tales of some "special" cuts out in Cali going for thousands.

Imo, correct me if I'm wrong, community grow, is essentially a no rules grow, any style any strain etc; anyone can participate. A comparative grow has an aspect that connects all the grows. In this case, its chem strains.

Thanks Tyson, so this adventure should have the "no rules" aspect of any style of grow (indoor, outdoor, medium, lighting, etc.). The only thing we agreed to earlier on was:

Like @Preston9mm, I'd like to make this comparative grow open to as many folks as possible. So I'd suggest the following: anything with Chem or Dog/Dawg in the name; anything with a strong OG Kush or Diesel component. Will that work for folks?

So a "pretty loose comparative grow" I guess would be the definition?

Just wait, as the legality and hobby grows, especially with all the interest in boutique grows, expect certain strains to hit the 10ks within the next 5-10 years. "Designer" strains or celebrity strains. Especially regular seeds or Male cuts that give you much more genetical access.

Bingo!

When I said one aspect that connects all (like the chem strains) I meant that all other aspects were "no rules", such as style, lighting, indoor/outdoor etc. A true community grow would have no rules. The commonality of the chem strains makes it a comparative grow. You can have as many rules as you want but ya yall have so far just said chem strains. I think a comparative grow is more fun because it unites all the grows. Again this is just my opinion.
