White Widow Grow - Indoor

Hps and outdoor
I'm liking the perofmqce of the light and the cost to run it

I've always used HPS, we can't get the level of quality on Europe with the LEDs but I want to try them for myself. And outdoors too. You've lived the dream mate :)

Do you prefer LEDs now that you use them?

Now I can't wait to get going. This sounds like what I was looking for low running cost with good results. Here is a picture of the light that I have ordered.

Here's the grow box I will be using without the green light of course (just have it in to show) as soon as the led is here it will be going straight in. I'm using a pc fan in the corner and as you can see I don't need an extractor or anything as the front isn't covered. I was going to paint the walls inside it flat white but just have foil for now as it's all I can get my hands on. I might keep it in there though specifically for heat more than anything else, it also seems to be reflecting the light quite good. This box is completely homemade from scratch and it's my first time building one so let me know what you think.

That's a pretty cool grow box design. I like that you can see through the front for a proper front row seat while you watch your plants grow. But like people have mentioned aluminum/tin foil isn't that great (though it works as a short-term budget job) and can create hot spots and burn your plant.
Painting the inside flat white was already mentioned but I think you mentioned it currently being out of your budget. I wonder if anyone has tried covering their walls with plain white printer paper. It's white so should reflect decently and it's just paper so you should be able to pick up hundreds of sheets for a few dollars, or you could already have some around the house if you've got a printer or even pinch a few dozen sheets from friends or family. Again not sure how well it would work but theoretically it should. Just an idea for another possible cheap solution.
Oh and I'll be interested to watch your grow. I'll hopefully be growing some White Widow myself at some point after I get my own setup complete.

I don't know much about lights at all just that more watts gives off more energy and I also just go by the lumens as well to try and simulate daylight. But I'm also trying to save the cost of running the lights which is the main reason for choosing cfls and leds.

Im using a 600w hps sunblaster by lumii the ballast to power the bulb and a bulb with ballast is £100 im doing my first ever grow am 11-12 days into flower and am so excited

Welcome to the grow Nightmask, I never even thought of using paper it's a good idea and a cheap way around it too, il take this into consideration and see if I can find out more about using it but I would imagine that it would work I can't see how it wouldn't.

I am looking for more heat because of the front been open which is why I have the foil in at the moment but I have to admit I am a little worried about it creating "hot spots" so I might give it a go and if it starts to go bad I will just switch to the paper or even paint at that stage.

What's up Robbo, do you have any pics of your plants? I would really like to see their progress. I know that feeling of excitement from my first grow it's nice to see that your flower is on the way. Best of luck with the rest of your cycle.

There in the dark atm i got a pic lastnight of 1 heavyweight fruitpunch and a money maker towering behind it its still undergoing the stretch

Thanks ive literally researched everday and night still am doing to this point from these forums and ones on other sites these growers are literally a god send and if they all turned up at my door id give each one a joint or a cake because id of struggled getting it out the veg state but with help from the veterans im a proud father of some lovely looking girls ; )

I'm in the same boat as you on that one still doing a lot of research myself. I like to find out information on certain things before I go doing them because it really isn't worth ruining the crop over something stupid and because of the laziness of not finding out what it is your doing. I'll agree with you about the growers on here too, I've learnt a fair amount in the short week that I've been on here and I have plenty more days ahead of me of learning you really just can't stop.

Hola MaryJane
If I may suggest...
you may want to consider painting your area flat white instead of using aluminum foil. Flat white is a much better reflector,
aluminum foil can create hot spots.
I'll be checking back to see the progress of your grow...good luck
I didn't know this next grow IL be doing this

All im using is aquapots with aquavalve and the pots that fit them

ionic grow thru veg
ionic bloom for flower
Mixed with my canna terra soil and clay pebbles and ph down other than that the plants done the rest, plus some lst

Quick question for anyone who knows the answer, I was doing a bit of research and came across the idea of adding some vitamin B to my soil. Here is an extract from the site I was on;

There are many B vitamins that help marijuana plants:
Vitamin B5 is essential for marijuana plants. Too little of it, and they die.
Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) is essential for your marijuana plants because it helps them in carbohydrate production and metabolism that fuel foliar and floral growth.
Vitamin B1 assists plants in phosphorus uptake. Phosphorus is a major essential nutrient for marijuana plants, especially in bloom phase.
Riboflavin (B2) helps your plants fight diseases and viruses that commonly attack marijuana plants.
Niacin (B3) promotes marijuana plant metabolism and cellular integrity.
Biotin (B7) helps your plants manufacture amino acids and energy.
Folic Acid helps your cannabis plants maintain genetic integrity so they grow out to be the strains you hoped they’d be.

What I want to know is how would I go about adding it to the soil, as in should I just crush B vitamins and put the powder over the soil or should I mix it with the water when watering/feeding? How much should I give and when should I start giving the plants the vitamins? Also would just like to know is this a good idea? From what I am reading it would greatly benefit from the addition of vitamins but I would just like somebody to confirm this for me before I try anything. Thanks in advance.

I was told superthrive was good, it has b1 in it and is supposed to be good for root development, i bought some and used it early on and it seemed to do good, its pretty cheap also, wm carries it for about $6.✌

Thanks tom, I think I might get some for the grow if that's the case. If it's good for the plant then I would be willing to try it, anything to help out my little girls.

More bad news today. I got an e-mail this morning about shipping for the lights I ordered and basically it was an e-mail for a refund to me as they can't be shipped to my location. But, I also checked tracking and it says that they are dispatched and in the post, I also received no refund so maybe they will still come. I am hoping they do because then I can start my grow on Tuesday or Thursday at the latest, just in case though I ordered another light (300w UFO full spectrum led), but bad news with this light is that estimated delivery is 15th June - 4th July meaning it will set me back another 2 weeks or so if the first light doesn't arrive. My coco coir grow bag came today so I have that and my seeds, also got some Ph down and some Ballygowan bottled water PhD at 7.2 for watering and I will be feeding the plant cal-mag which I also got today every third watering or every second depending how fast the soil dries out when I get started.

P.s. Sorry for the wait guys I thought I would be starting this grow tomorrow but I just keep getting hit with bad luck. If all goes to plan i'll be going ahead with this grow on Thursday next week at the latest but if that light doesn't come by then I have no other choice but to wait. :(
