What's In Jim's Grow Room?

good luck jim I have a ud getting ready to go outside in about a month this is cool i would like to follow along and see the show hey bud maybe plant some cilantro rite next to them bugs don't like them or some marigolds bugs are attracted to them and they pretty much stay there just a couple suggestions I don't no if something like that would work in your set up :)
Hell yes! I need all the help I can get. Here's what I know. While UD is great indoors, I'm fairly certain she'll do better outdoors. Toast and Con always had some beauties and I'm hoping they'll do ok in this heat.

Good luck with the seedlings Jim! Hopefully you get some nice pheno's
Thanks Dankman. 'hope you're feeling better. I think there are 3 phenos. I hope I get a chance to cull 3 or 4 early. I'll harden them off in 1 gallon pots out back and I'll have to amend some used up soil I have stored in a bin.

OK....So there's a bunch of talk through the threads about compost tea. I've been meaning to make some so I decided to put my tea brewer back together and show everyone how it's done. I use my own compost so I can keep costs down.

Compost tumbler

Compost. Black gold folks. All those bacteria and fungi are trapped in this stuff.

5 gallon bucket with 4 gallons of clean water straight from the well here.

Parts and pieces

Put about 1/2 pint of compost in a filter. I used an old bandana since I'm not wearing on my face. Tie it up with a piece of string.

Put that bundle of compost in the bucket brewer. The goodies will leach out into the water and will be aerated by the system. I expect the see the water turn darker within the first hour.

That's really all there is to it. Let it brew for at least 24 hours. This stuff doesn't have much shelf life. Perhaps a couple of days but you'll have to keep it brewing. Actively Aerated Compost Tea.

Actively Aerated Compost Tea

This is what it looks like after 40 minutes of brewing. The bubbles create a foam on the surface. This is what you look for if everything is running ok. Tomorrow morning the surface should look like sea foam and of course the color will be completely brown.

I'm scared of clowns

I cringe when I see your avatar and Conradinos.

I'm sure everyone is interested in the progress of the UltraDog seeds I started a week ago. So far only 7 have decided to shown up above the soil. That may be good. These would be the 7 strongest so far. In a perfect world would all 10 be up? I'm not sure. There is this natural selection process and I accept that.

Anyway....they are beautiful little buggers with long stems. Considering that they are about 35 inches from the lamp as I'm growing them with the 4 hold-over moms, that isn't a bad thing either. Long strong initial structure for outdoor fun in the sun. Pictures aren't good which in fairly normal.

UltraDog Seedlings

A friends daughter celebrated her birthday yesterday and I gave her a large sack of the Fx girls that I bred and grew out back in 2018. Fx was a collaboration with Cannafan who mixed Fast n Vast with Master Kush. I planted one seed and got a sweet looking male who pollinated an Ace Panama green pheno that I had growing at the time.

So the (Fast n Vast x Master Kush) x Panama was renamed Fx to keep things simple. Most of the produce went into storage and I always thought Fx 2 was the most potent, I gave her a mixture of Fx 3 and 4 buds and I've heard that it brought a smile to her face as big as Texas. I smoked some of Fx 3 this morning. It's a nice sativa head high lasting a couple of hours.

So why am I even writing about this stuff. Well, when I last grew the UltraDogs I used the UD male to pollinate the Fx 1 and Fx 2 plants. If I ever get around to running them that might present a very interesting combination. That's all.

Happy Easter everyone. He is risen!
