what nutes needed here?

Hi all,

This is my first time growing in a box.
About a week after i put the seedlings under the lights, first one and now three
have started turning yellow from the bottom up.
I haven't watered for a couple of days as a thread said that yellowing can be
caused by over watering which i was probably guilty of...
the yellowing is still happening but has now spread to brown lines running
along the leaves from the edges inwards.

After reading many threads i believe there in a nute problem, most likely nitrogen...

any suggestions welcome and thanks for any help.

I'm watering with purified drinking water.
as for the soil, where i'm living doesn't have any branded 'potting mix',
so i'm using soil i found at a local nursery, minus the lumps of clay and with
a little sand mixed through...

I found a pack of litmus paper and ran a few tests
I mixed a spoon of soil and a little purified water and the paper measured a 5 pH
then i made a little hole near the edge of a different container, poured in a little water,
put in test strip and closed hole. removed paper after a few moments, it measured around 8 pH
the yellowing leaves are now beginning to curl up and inwards

any suggestions? thanks?

i went to the nursery and bought some liquid fertilizer called 'super foliar'
it was the only one that had English on it
here's what the label says;
N = 8% P2O6 = 8% K2O = 4% CaO = 0.04% MgO = 0.19%
Cu = 5ppm Zn = 615ppm Mn = 764ppm F = 816ppm

any ideas on how to prepare this for use, that part isn't in English...

Cheers...

The main numbers are 8-8-4 for your npk. Sounds like it's for veg, but not for flower. I'm not sure how much goes in each gallon of water. Might have to google that one if they don't tell you in english.

Most like flora grow have an npk of 2-1-6, advanced uses 4-0-4. So that stuff you got seems a little strong, probably made for tomatoes or another plant.

thanks for the info peyton,

i diluted the mix down by 1/8 tsp to 500ml

here's the new pics

these three got fert before the yellow began and are doing great.

any suggestions regarding tipping? when to do or to do at all?

Cheers,

I see signs of some kind of bugs. The specks on the leafs. Have you check under leafs and around for what in the garden?

bugs was what i thought, but it turns out to be 'sawdust' from a white termite that has found it's way into the door...
a gentle huff and it drops off..
next time I'll use a metal frame n a tent

5th set of leaves sounds good :)

cheers

I topped them a couple of daze ago. I also took off the large lower leaves...
Was this the right thing to do?

Any suggestions welcome

Cheers.

It won't hurt it to take those leaves, but at a young age I would leave them to they start blocking something. But I definitely defol all my plants pretty much all the time. If my big pc doesn't finish soon, she'll get it again. They'll bush back up fast on ya

that's good to know...

so this grow is just various seeds taken from nice bud over the last few months
and i noticed from early on that there were 2 strains coming up...
these have had exactly the same treatment, been watered the same, fert, etc...

the lighter colour strain...

Those looking sick, looks like nut-lock. Did you say that your soil have a PH at 5 somthing?

Some of my ggirls look like yours, and I mixed too much peat in my soil. The peat have a PH at 3,0 - 4,5 so the low PH locks out som nut, and the plant cant take it up.

Try to flush it with bakingpowder, use 5ml /gallon and let it sitt for 12-15 h and give them regular fertilzer with, the one you give to them now and the PH should be 7,0

Thanks navar,

That suggestion is definitely on the list...we had another big power out today
so i put the girls outside for some light...

any suggestions on why the sunlight gave them a boost? It didn't seem to affect the others.
should i put them out everyday? the yard only gets 3-5 hours direct light at this time of year.

Cheers,

Natural light is always 1000 times more powerful than any grow light. I would be careful putting them out cause them you risk bringing pests into your grow room
