Thank you very much. (Dawn has cracked...). .
Good luck with your auto water setup.

Mail is too slow these days or I could have got better pumps. I wonder what I need? Seems somethng like1000 gph would be good. It had been so long since I faced this situation I’d forgotten all about the headaches of low pressure. I only remember seeing small pumps at the place I bought these.

you are looking for the wrong pump. just pull one off an old washing machine. 3 pumps on timers for something like 200 or so plants.

those were the daze ... lol :cheesygrinsmiley:

Wow! Why didn’t I think of that. Free pumps. I’ve had those things right in front of my face so many times when groveling around on the ground fixing the buggers. Thanks! Next time....

the key is they are low pressure. big line out, spaghetti feeders off that.
bottom feed pump. some newer junk is top feed air / water. can still be used, just more finicky. old shit ftw .. :p

keep the main feed line above the top of the pots, the spaghetti's flow downward to pots from that. low pressure and gravity. meant for soil feed. it's not a hydro app, but it'd work in coco or hempy. passive stuff.

we always had to build or make things from scratch. even the best balls out hydro guys i see here are running diy systems. love this place for that. respect. :cheesygrinsmiley:

If those washing machine pumps have metal, I wouldn't use it for longer than your trip. Also, your garden looks great despite any mishaps, so you already have a silvery lining IMO. As another idea/option, have you considered building a large flood table from lumber and plastic? Then you could just fill the tray and let the pots wick the drink up.

been mostly plastic for about 20 yrs. not hard to check the impeller usually. flood and drain tables would be great for them.

they still have to be sourced etc. plus there's wiring. most folk aren't up to it. but they can be cheap and available, outweighing other disadvantages.

a ready built solution is a transfer pump. seen those used as well. essentially what a washing machine pump is. as long as it is for potable water you are good to go.

edit : should add they are a dry pump. sit outside the res to work.

Bon voyage cracker! Fingers crossed the garden goes well while you’re away and I hope the sailing goes really well! :ciao:

...it’s not the first time this has happened in a WC journal, and it most likely won’t be the last, this rave is having a big impact on me.
Dude I’m becoming a Luddite. Have you ever had a crappy relationship, or been in a crappy situation in life, and then later on in future when you’ve grown past it, you look back and think about your ex or your ex situation and simply can’t imagine ever going there again? Like every cell of your being rejects the idea with a shudder, and you know that you’ve moved on to better things?
That’s how I feel about a bunch of common mainstream things like ‘the news’, mainstream human culture, ‘the government’, ‘the law’, facebook, ‘the state of the world’, fashion, movie stars, tv, highways, fast food, lineups, big barn stores, traffic jams, advertising, all that stuff. I’m increasingly unaware that the stuff even exists and have gotten totally addicted to life without it. I’ve moved on. I’ve got all sorts of cool stuff going on here in my peaceful bubble that has nothing at all to do with any of that stuff. I don’t give a rat’s ass about the ‘news’ or politics. I care about making stuff, playing music, fishing, sailing, getting stoned, tweety birds, flowers, rainbows. Stuff like that. All that other stuff can keep off my lawn, goddammit.
I feel very similarly and after a couple of years dabbling on Instagram I have recently been considering ditching it completely. Looking deeply at it, it is bringing almost nothing positive to my life.
The whole modern social construct seems toxic to me a lot of the time.
so, Cracker, you may have just tipped the balance for me in deleting myself on social media (only have insta) ... except here. It’s not without problems here but they are a rare :) and the shared gardening is a simply a joy in life :D
:Namaste:

That is the reason I'm here in the sticks on 420 :woohoo: :thumb:

yes this. I also have a mass of cool stuff going on here in the forest. My health condition was part of it I think trying to use social media to feel connected to the world when I can’t go out and be in at the way are used to be able to (which is now the entire world to reality), but it didn’t take long to say that it was a very empty option. My health condition was part of it I think - trying to use social media to feel connected to the world Maybe, when I can’t go out and be in It the way i used to be able to (which is now the entire world’s reality), but it didn’t take long to see that it was a very empty option... And I’ve kind of lingered and recently wondered about that a lot. So cracker’s post there just really hit the spot today!

... and subconsciously manipulative. On purpose. When it's free, you have to ask who's paying for it and ... why?

Yep, this is my main cyber obsession. :cheesygrinsmiley: I read a news digest site and that often leads me elsewhere, but I don't do any other social media. Wife does F-book and it bothers me a little. That's just so much crap to be exposed to every day. And it's only the crap they've decided you like to see.

This ^^^ i am convinced it’s part of why and how it feels so toxic to me  it’s very insidious

So not just because of some of the argy-bargy that can happen there (which is toxic in its own way) there’s also lots of wonderful stuff that people post - its the whole construct and set up and like gray says, the structures behind it all - which is also part of what WC’s post abk ther is speaking about, for me, the modern social and political structures amd the cultures they create - are just reasons to stay here in the forest and explore the immense and tiny natural universes :) ANd grow meds :)
