I don't know if it's possible to grow a self-choking plant.
I could imagine it growing like the braided trees, or so.
My 2 cents:
Plants grow into space-time using what's known as
ambient temperature quantum mechanics.
Folks with white coats are still not sure how it works,
but plants grow outwards in every possible direction.
The best way is the way the plant actually grows.
The other directions are disregarded,
as the plant grows towards the light.
The leaves are constantly vibrating
and changing their internal structure
to let as much light through for photosynthesis as possible.
light-absorbing molecules in some photosynthetic proteins capture and transfer energy according to quantum-mechanical probability laws instead of classical laws at temperatures up to 180 K. This contrasts with the long-held view that long-range quantum coherence between molecules cannot be sustained in complex biological systems, even at low temperatures.
Plants know what they are doing better than we do
So, no.
I don't think loopty will choke herself.
At least I hope not.
(I'm not too sure about pointless seedling, though)
