Dunno if you remember I got it on those two Bruce Banners? First grow. We threw ours but it came up in a chat with Carmen and Shed. Like you I assumed the decarbing and heating would kill that because of extraction. Think they said there is some reaction that happens and when the rot breaks down it leaves traces of something else bad that follows along with the extraction. It was def @Carmen Ray that gave me the basics.

There isn't any visible rot left.
I threw out a few ounces of bud that was bad.
It's just got spores and the odd strand that looks like spider webs.
No actual rot left.

Has been debates on that. I would bet money on the RSO on the black-market being made from a lot of moldy weed.
Some say the mold spores end up in the oil
I would use it for pain cream Might smoke it if it was clear like honey (filter filter cold)
I'm sure in my old days of buying I smoked a lot of crap in oil that wasn't THC

What did you do with last year's bud rot? And the trim you froze

I thought I was gonna go blind looking @ every bud for fungus and then I had to scope it too. But ain’t life crazy? You have tons of work and I got nothing to do after I chopped n hung everything. Smh CL

Yep same same. We had like half a midsized cola and a bit of mould a few other places. To me it seems like what you think - that product is getting transformed in several different ways multiple times to get to the RSO. Just passing on what I read. I’ll try and hunt it out in the morning. Can’t remember details if any

Last year it was really bad.
This just started and I chopped.
Everything got thrown out.
I kept the trim.
Have a couple pounds now.
It's earmarked for concentrates.
Probably make coconut oil salve with it.
Haven't made anything in months and months though, just too busy.

I don't think anything could live thru being decarbed and boiled in grain alcohol. (I assume you boil off and reclaim your booze?) I'd have no problem with the 'non rotted but in close vicinity' buds in my RSO.
Smoking though -I've become a weed snob. I don't want to smoke anything questionable anymore (or anything with unknown sources) . I'd trash it or give it away to someone weed poor before I'd light it on fire.

I’m not planning on smoking it.
Rso I eat. Probably no better.
I figured the heat and alcohol would kill any spores I missed.
I wouldn’t give it to someone, if I wouldn’t smoke it I wouldn’t let anyone else.
