VI's - Subcool Based - 2 Worm - Multi-Strain - Mother Hunt - 2016

Yup. there is a long thread on this that you should read here...(just read through the post by Doc green who invented it)

Bud Washing

Do not wash with warm water as some suggest.

No need for H2O2 unless you have mold. I do it anyway.

I feel like you should go lighter on the lemon juice and I have noticed some oils being removed. Not a lot. It is well worth the minor loss to have clean buds without non plant material all over them. I will show pics after they dry to prove it is still good to go.

And I joked about that 4 plant thing many times with my friends. like it is legal to grow 4 plants...but the legal limit to have in your house is like 8 ounces. So it is legal until you harvest then you have to give it all away... LOL.

So yeah I have only made butter and brownies in the past. I have a some stuff laying around that I am going to experiment with on making CCO. If I get that right I will probably end up keeping the primo cut 8z's and concentrating the rest down...so I am kinda legal I guess? I don't think I read anything in the law about limits on CCO...LOL.

I don't know man... I wanna stay legal but like I just can't even growing 1 plant. I don't know how much I have there yet but I can't imagine it is a legal amount to own.

Next winter when I do a real run and scrog it we shall what I can get from a single run of 4 plants but I suspect it will be over the limit. ;)

such stupid laws...why can't they, at least, treat cannabis like liquor in their control of it. they never limit how many bottles of booze you can walk out of the store with...it causes me to disrespect laws...

i think cco is concentrated cannabis oil and i wonder if that is the same or similar to rso (rick simpson oil)? i've tried to read about it online, but haven't had the time, yet, to do it justice. i make rso for us to use to sleep. it's very effective, even with the lame stuff i've been growing! lol....

CCO is the same as RSO, a lot of people think that CCO is a better name because it was in use for a long time before Rick Simpson coined the term RSO.

i think it's a better name because it is more descriptive, actually, and requires less explanation. i have just never heard it called that before.

hi RSO, and thank you for the links! i still kind of get lost on this site...and i knew there was a lot of information on the cco, but i hadn't taken the time to seek it out. i've been making the oil for a couple of years, sometimes using 99.9% iso and sometimes using ever clear. but everything i've learned i picked up on the internet from anonymous people, so it will be interesting to see how folks here are making it, since i'm getting to know you guys! :) people continually impress me with their creativity.

and i'm interested in learning about tacking...that's a totally new term to me. we usually squeeze a bit of oil onto a piece of bread, wad it up, and wash it down before bed.

I forgot to mention. Yesterday after confirming the temps and humidity up in the drying space was good I dropped the HID a bit more. I was gong to see about dropping it a little more today but got busy. Maybe Wednesday as tomorrow I am mad busy. Also yesterday I gave a little water to the seeds as they looked thirsty. That was day 11 from seed surface, day 15 from seed start. I was meaning to document this in days of the grow or bloom. So hopefully I remember from here on.

Recap notes:
Day 1: Seeds in water for a few hours then placed in most soil
Day 4: most of them surfaced.
Day 6: added a little water to the sprouts
Day 10: After changing the location a second NYPD sprout appeared
Day 14 all plants moved into tent
Day 15: Lightly watered sprouts

Since this is my journal I get to go off the rails a bit when I want.

So I have some old stuff from almost a year back I have been waiting to make butter with. I was poking around the web and found a way I had never heard of for concentrating it down to an edible dropable liquid that is like sugar syrup. I am not a smoker but I gather most people have been using this to make E cig vaping liquids at home. Apparently you can just soak some decarbed weed in a jar of Glycerin for a few months and you have a sweet syrup that needs no more effort.

So I took that old stuff and put some in a jar with glycerin and some more and put it in a jar with everclear. The everclear I had heard of when I was in diapers but I aint sure how long to let it sit. I have read anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months. The glycerin I have no idea but the video I watch the guy said 6 months.

I took pic with a regular mason jar for perspective. The 2 shorter ones are much fatter and full of a lot more weed which I broke down first and decarbed. I suspect I will have a shit ton of liquids to consume and test at the end of this.

(Do you think I should put that in regular mason jars?)

concentrate.JPG

Unfortunately my oven fucked up the decarb. it was dead on when I placed it in but then after the first turn it overshot a long ways. So it wont be peaked out but it shouldn't be too bad...hopefully. At least the 2 jars have the same base so it is still a good comparison. There should be more than enough to make up for the few minutes to high a decarb.

Anyway there is that...:thumb:

hey V! don't know if you are familiar with skunk pharm research (they are neighbors of yours), but they've written up some info on using glycerin to extract cannabis...i guess i'll have to try that...someday when i actually have enough cannabis to play with. :)

"At saturation, Glycerin only hold as 33% as much cannabis oil as the same volume of ethyl (grain) alcohol, so about three times more is required per dose.

To reach maximum saturation however, requires processing more than one batch of fresh material through the glycerin, because as the saturation level increases, the glycerin becomes less aggressive as a solvent and the partially dissolved cannabis boundary layer interface with the solvent is also no longer at full strength and as reactive.

To keep the reaction from slowing to a snails pace, or even stopping, some method must be used to keep removing this stagnant layer and refreshing the boundary between the solvent and resin."

it will be interesting to see how your experiment goes!

At some point I will have a stupid amount of weed and it wont matter the efficiency :) I aint there yet.

The place I learned about this from said 6 months but I do not think he decarb'd it. So I will pull a few drops every so often and see how it works starting at about 6-8 weeks.

Would be nice to be able to just do nothing and flip it daily and then in a few months have a candy syrup to drop in public.

i get a very sweet and secret pleasure from sitting in a crowd and enjoying a cannabis cookie...:)

looking forward to hearing more about your experiment!

I am actually trimming it now and transferring to the tubs just like we talked about. I am looking stable at about 70 RH so maybe in a few days I can start cure.

By the way... navigator I really appreciated the post. Haven't had a chance to go to the link yet but I will. The thing is though I am noticing that the stuff is absorbing into the plant matter quite a lot. But this glycerin is so thick I can't magine once it get soaked in that it can get out and that is probably the real issue. I bet you don't need to use new material. I bet you need to press it out of the plant matter then reintroduce it because it will not be mobile enough. With alcohol tossing around the jar and the stuff goes thorough the plant material no problem. with glycerin there is nothing you can do but squeeze it out. Turning it over daily helps wash the outsides clean but what about the insides. That wont come out until it is squeezed. I may need to get a french press for this stuff and press it once a week. That might do the trick. Oh silly me thinking of ways to screw up this experiment.

I think I am gonna go do that...I was going to get a french press for the everclear anyway I will get one and use it on this and press it weekly to get action in and out of the plant matter.

hey V...i was just pleased to have the opportunity, in some small way, to repay you for all that you have done for me! :Namaste:

just keep us posted on how the glycerin extraction is going...:)

just an fyi...these are the best cloths i've found for straining...i use them instead of regular cloth or cheesecloth as they do a much better job and they are washable and reusable.

It is getting Green :)

GlycerinGreen.JPG

I ran out originally and had just barely enough but not really enough. I had bought everything they had at the Walmart so I ordered a gallon off amazon which should be here tomorrow. then I will top off and that will dilute it a bit. Anyway when I get it I will empty the jar and press it all out and then put it all back into the jar. I think this stuff needs to be pressed in and out of the plant matter as it is so thick.

yeah, i never really thought about where to buy glycerin, before...how long are you going to soak it?
