Virgin Ground And The Little Star Asterion

Hello VG,Felipe,N420. :passitleft: That sounds like the way to wake up! Sometimes I sit and watch the dawn color the mountains. Sunrise is the best time in the desert. I'll have a vape, lay down in the swing and watch/listen to the world wake up. I don't like to kill stuff but stinging ants, wasps and such just gotta go. We had a swarm of bees on an olive tree a couple of weeks ago and i was careful walking up to them as we have africanized bees here but I watched a bit and they were gone in the morning. I hope you all are safe and happy.

I just found a little wasp nest in the crack of my car door! Freaked me out. I had Mr H knock it off and run, lol. There was 4 wasps on it, but they seemed dazed either from fumes of the engine or the wind of driving around. They barely budged even with him knocking it down. Tiny yellow menaces!

Tiny yellow menaces!
And, unlike bees, they can sting you over and over (and over)- one got inside my shirt and stung me 6 times before I could mash it- I looked like I was having a seizure while I was trying to smack myself in the right place to end him...

I know it!! My father in law ran over a nest on a riding mower, he got stung like crazy. Omg, in your shirt though!! o_O Poor carcass :(

Was trying to remember the name of the show when I was looking at that site yesterday.
Here you are with the answer. Too funny.
They had a New York show and also an Oddities-San Francisco.

We got a name for this condition here.... stoooooner :laughtwo:

Give that bong another rip and you will start remembering things again :roorrip:

Remember these side shows as well, spent an entire new year watching this series. Loved the theme of the show, all the special people in it and of course lots of the weird stuff in there. Always had a fascination of weird surgical instruments and my favorite tool I got is a Peang use it for holding small things tight like sub seize bolts or nuts (not my nuts). :laughtwo:

cant remember whether they should be under “lights” or if a sunny ledge is okay.
They tend to get pretty stretchy sitting in a window, unless they're on a ledge outside the window.
Something about the glass between them and the sun makes them stretch out.
Lights would be the better choice.

You're welcome, BooWho!
What kind of light are you going to use?
An led bulb about 4" above the sprout is all you need for the first week and a half or so...

I have a little blurple packed away from the first half of my current grow and it seemEd to do the trick for a short time. Amazon site provides this info: FULL SPECTRUM & HIGH LUMENS - This grow light has optimal full spectrum containing Red(655-660nm), Blue(440-475nm), IR, UV and White(3000-7500k) wavelength, as well as 90° reflector cup with high par value: 565 μmol/m2·s at 12in. That should do it, no? I have two plants flipped to flower in my tent and I don’t want to take any chances with erroneous light sources in the space so I’ll likely keep them in the old room until I can harden them. Any suggestion on how soon is too soon to harden/fertilize? Thank you again!:green_heart:

That light should be fine- I don't know about the par value (I've only got a lux meter) but
my sprouts do well @ 17,500 lux ,21" from the light in "the box"
I wait to start feeding till they're about 2 weeks old- the cotyledons are usually starting to shrivel a little by that time- that tells me their built in food supply is about used up.

Today I realise I can't remember whether I've said hi in some of the threads I've been following! LOL. I should just say hi immediately after I follow a thread and then I'll know I haven't been creepin'... :laughtwo:

Hi VG! Looking forward to seeing your new flowering cabinet come together. I've just received my first lights and have assembled a janky cardboard build until my cabinet arrives. Still looking for ideas and points of reference :Namaste::cool:

Ouch - bad memories! :thedoubletake:

Spray at night. From a distance.

Or better yet, call an exterminator.
I'll kill em myself. I remove my own skunks from the property. Not afraid of some wasps.
We usually check for them while its still cold out. They can't really fly in temps below 50°f.
I’m glad you didn’t get stung is all!
My wasps don't seem aggressive towards us. They are eating my handrail outside my front door to make their nests.
They get sucked into the house when I open the door. Damn things are everywhere.
Spiders and earwigs are on the decline though. They are hungry ladies I guess.
I don't want to get rid of all of them. They do keep other insects in check and are good pollinators.
I had a wasp nest in one of my vents on the side of the house near my veggie garden. The other day the youngest got stung from those wasps! I sprayed it that night and knocked the nest down the next day. No wasp is gonna sting my kids and get away with it!
Mine have been lucky so far. They know they are all over the place and know to stay calm if they get landed upon.
Knock on wood.

I hope to make it to the desert someday. I love cacti and succulents. Would love to see a desert in bloom.
Always a pleasure to see you come through Fred. :peace:

That happened to the BF at his moms house. One got into his shirt and stung the hell out of him. Man, he was super mad about it too.
Better than in my pants... ouch!
Oof! I had a bee sting me on a fanny adjacent area once. It got caught in my skirt and I sat on it. It was in a really bad place. Also got stung in the belly button. Didn't like that either.
Hi VG. Nice new baby(s)! Ive got two seeds germinated and in a peat pot at the moment and for some reason I cant remember whether they should be under “lights” or if a sunny ledge is okay. They are autos and I plan to grow them outside. Sorry for the silly question. I hope your day is good! :thanks:
My day was super busy and stressful. I'm much better today. Still alot to do but it's slower paced and not as pressing.

I used to make circuit boards and had to use hemostat (peang) to hold the tiny pieces that I had to solder in.
I have one around here..somewhere....no idea where. Lol

I will try you suggestion of taking more bong rips. It is sure to yield some results. Lmao

Lol. Highya syenite!
I'm not sure either. I'm horribly forgetful.
If you are growing in cardboard, carcass is your man.
He uses an inexpensive light and grows fire in a cardboard wardrobe.
He's one of my favorite growers here.

stung in the belly button.
 intrepid wasp!

Hey syenite :ciao: - in the search at the top, you can change “Everywhere” to “This thread“ and type any username in the “member” field and hit ‘Search’ - it will give you all posts in that thread by that user (including yourself ;) )

Darn it! I should have kept those wardrobe boxes! Two years ago we were harvesting the small hopyard on our property and the hubs backed the top of the roll bar on his tractor into a gigantic hornets nest dangling in the branches of a tree. Needless to say he came flying off the tractor running like hell. Problem was, the tractor was still running and the entire thing was swarmed. We let it sit for about 30 minutes and he doused the thing with Sevin or something like that he found in the shed. 13 stings on the poor guy. We now have Epi pens... I need to edit and post the video I have of us wiping out a European hornets nest in a cedar tree......with a shotgun. I was so glad he indulged me! Hahaha. ;)

Mine was also supposed to be temporary...but it works pretty well, and I'm pretty cheap....
it could be a little taller, wider, and deeper...but other than that...it's just right... ;)

Thank you for the compliment, VG - You made me blush... (again)
I hope you know the feeling is mutual -:hugs:

Wiping out a hornets nest with a shotgun.........gotta love that! I definitely want to see that video.

Really don't like it when the cops show up at my house.
BF was smoking. I was lucky enough to be leaving so I met the officer outside as he was getting out of his vehicle. If I would have waited to leave he probably would have smelled smoke when he met me at the door. Too damn close.
I really need to be more careful.

He was dropping of a sobpeona for my son who was assaulted last year.

Fucking illegality. Sick of being a criminal.
