Update 2nd Grow

Doc Bud had an earlier version of washing explained in this blog entry. This might be a better option for you as H2O2 reportedly will kill mold. I smoked some tobacco one year that never actually finished the cure. It molded slightly because of the temperature and humidity where I stored it. Just take my word for it - Don't Smoke It.

Now if you're interested in making Bubble Hash with it, Duggan said that the mold would float away from the trichomes.

Anyway, here's that blog post

:thanks: My amazing friends to the rescue

Bud wash is a good idea Doc Bud Bud Washing

I plan on washing mine. I think it should be a must for outdoor growers........corn fields......now u got me thinking.....maybe next create a box with two rows each all four sides of corn and a few beautiful plants in the middle. No one would suspect....they already referring to me a the veggies lady and on neighbour at the store suggested I try my hand at corn. Ain't nothing but small farms around me with two blocks of houses around my property.....gardens down here is the norm.

A shame it is Jim. I feel bummed out about it. Kicking myself cause pretty much everything you just explained crossed my mind. Cutting corn stalks near by wouldve helped w ventilation. I only had my plant in the corn because my backyard was too open I was afraid someone would see it. I had no other option. I should've paid attention to the corn around my plant maybe she got sick from mold exposure on the corn like the powderfound on the bud leaves. It seems to be the answer as to why I almost lost the crop. I'll hang my hat on that I guess. As for the rest of the harvest, it's not molded but should I go ahead and wash the buds just in case they were exposed a litttle? If I need to wash the harvest, how would I go about doing that? Again, thanks for the help. Mold and bud washing is something new this grow has taught me. Something good came out of it at least.

You want to wash anything you grow, particularly outdoors, but indoors you'd be surprised at what washes out. The wash cleans the buds, helps the plant to dry more evenly and helps with the cure. Once you try it you may never look back.

Do the one Jim linked you to with the H2O2. That'll take care of any rot concerns on the unaffected parts of the plant. Duggan is available to talk you through the bubble hash option, if you're interested.

Good luck. I hope it smokes like a dream and meets all your expectations. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

MagicJim nailed it, trim all mold and mildew, wash, dry well, and make bubble hash. If you smoke too much mold, the results really can suck. I'm too embarrassed to tell you how I know.

Corn is a great cover crop and can work well, but powdery mildew is often a problem. Mold Spores are wind born, so try planting cannabis as close to the normal upwind end of the garden or field as possible. And as also stated, they need around a 6 foot radius clear of vegetation to breathe and evaporate moisture. Mulch can also reduce mold on leaves and flowers, but direct sun is gold.
