Two Tents By Twox: A Memoir Of A Monthly 8oz Harvest

Veg tent is doing good.. She's kind of stuffed right now but the 3 TrapStars will be hitting flower in the next few days. I Have 5 Slurricanes that will get some 5 gallon pots when I transplant and I have my keepers getting ready for clones.

Purple Envy Short pheno..
20170619_035720.jpg

Excellent work. That purple envy is getting frosty. What do they smell like? My short pheno still smells green.

Looking good as usual. I saw alot of good strains that ihg has to offer. What strains have u heard good things about from them? I know the purple punch is a highly recommend one

He has some new strains in the works with some Zkittlesf3 crosses. He seems very proud of his goliath and I'm betting those crosses are fire too. Anything crossed with his Platinum will be frosty for sure and of course his Dolato and JellyBreath are his famous strains. His animal cookie strains are known to hermie so if that's a issue I would avoid them. If I was going to buy some seeds right know I would grab his Zilky zmooth (zkittlesf3xsilky johnson) that's my fav out of his new lineup..

I wouldn't mind that so much if it wasn't for the crazy feeling of driving around with clones in your car lol

The "we'll meet you in the parking lot with a brown paper bag" one kills me the most. :laughtwo: I never get the chance to drive with one because I am so damn picky about good clones. There's a lot of junk out there even under the best of names. It's really buyer beware. I want to see the mother even if it's only pics. I want the certificate. Not brown paper. When was the last time it was hardened. Not a blank look. Most of the time I can trade for what I want but it takes forever or requires long trips to Oregon. Both options have killer genetic banks though. :) I'm gaining a lot more access through breeders circles too so who knows what dark paths that will lead to.

How ya doing Blaze..
The short pheno is still building her buds and she looks like she's going to have a nice cola. Not as frosty and I'm guessing she will want 9 to 10 weeks. She smells sweet and grapey., almost reminding me of the Urkle with a earthy and skunky undertone. Her smell didn't really start developing until about week 4 and seems to be developing still. Her hairs are super long so I'm guessing she will make some hairy buds and they seem to be developing into clusters.. I thought I grabbed some pics of her tonight but I must have deleted them due to the picture quality. I'll get pics tomorrow..

Here's the taller pheno. Shea producing some dense flowers but they are rather small and don't seem like they will bulk up much.. She has some short hairs that stay very close to the bud, not all puffy like the shorter lady. Shes too damn tall though and will probably yeild really bad. The trichomes are all on some really long stalks giving her a fuzzy appearance. She is super sticky though with nothing but sweet smells coming from her. She lacks the earthy and skunky smell from the shorter lady.

Og13... This pheno is producing the biggest buds, not much frost and I hope the smell is still developing because she's all earthy and green smelling... All 3 phenos smell like plants. I sure don't smell of kush or sour diesel.. Only time will tell but for now I dont like any of them..

Clones can be a hit and miss especially if they are coming from a unknown source or a paper bag in a parking lot. Lol..

One good thing about California is that it we have quite a few big name nurseries that do nothing but produce clean clones. I don't trust anything local but Midnight Farms, Darkheart Nursery and All-star Clones have a very good reputation of producing authentic cuts that are pest and disease free.

I had a friend offer to get me clones but when I showed him some pics of one of my ladies he was blown away that the leaves went all burnt to a crisp and asked what I sprayed on them for mites. Huge red flag, in don't want no part of that shit... I told him that I didn't spray anything and he was shocked. I also told him no thanks o the clones.

Well, I have to wake up in 2 hours and go to work... lol..

Oh ya, collecting male pollen and removing flowering males sucks. I'll have a update on that tomorrow. I was trying to be all perfect and clean and ended up hosing myself and half the living room down with a spray bottle. No side branching on my next males, only tops..

Where I am at we have very few clone only varieties. Most everyone has clones of seeds they started or someone else started. Even the one big clone only is now available via seeds (whether it is the same as the clone remains to be seen) and goes by 3 or 4 different names depending on who you get it from. Most clones here are not clean, they all either have mites or PM. I wish I had access to the purple urkles and a real OG. Since I cannot get these strains or really even clean clones I have to stick to my seed addiction and hope that I can find some winners that blow everything else away.

As far as moving clones goes it is always a little sketchy, but one time I brought a cut to a fellow grower after getting a nice seedling from him. I was not expecting anything in return but he offered me a Girl Scout cookie cut (from seed) and I couldnt say no. When he brought me to his clone area he only had "clones" of it that were 3.5 feet tall :thedoubletake: (the clone I gave him was in a solo cup and maybe 8 inches tall). I ended up having to drive almost an hour with this thing in the back seat of my truck. Definitely the sketchiest ride with a "clone" I have made.

 That's the pollen chucker initiation :high-five: I would agree. Those are three solid nurseries.

I think I solved my clone woes just a little bit ago. Jim and I are working out a deal that could eventually lead to a partnership. I got pacing to do. Still a lot of details to work out.

TheGreenYeti you sound like you are in Washington State :laughtwo:

I still believe seeds are the way to go but sometimes I crave a clone only strain. My main issue with clones is they're not really special.. Anybody can buy a cut for 15 bucks. With seeds and a little pheno hunt you can have something special that nobody else has.. CA is all about clones and very rarely do I meet another seed addict in real life.. Everybody I know in real life grows from clones..
Have you ever checked out CSI genetics?.. Lots if Urkle crosses..

. Have you ever seen those clone shippers? Kinda cool and they even have a little LED.

That would be cool, Jim seems like a honest individual and a true breeder. I'm sure he had his pollen chucking initiation long ago..:high-five: Sleeeep..ZzZzZz... I stayed up way to late last night...

Thanks for those descriptions bud. I popped another 3 purple envy. So far, I like the way they grow. Seems I don't have the really tall pheno you have. My short pheno looks very similar to yours. The other one, is sort of an inbetween of the short pheno and the super tall one you have. Will be interesting to see what it does down the line.

Keep those photos coming!

I have not checked out CSI genetics. I will have to give them a look. I have a querkle going which is a cross TGA did that i like. It could be better though. I have seen the shippers those are wicked neat. I think Doc got a strain or two sent to him that way. I would love some true cali genetics. It isnt something seen around here. Most clones here range from 10 to 25 each unless its some crazy cut. There is one strain my buddy told me he can get a cut of thats been bred around here and has been tested at 30+% THC.... They want $1000 for a cut though... the cheap ones though are usually clones of fem seeds someone bought.

Sounds like you're having fun. :thumb: Ladies (and dudes) are looking fine as always. :volcano-smiley:

My take is that I can get better quality out of seed that I grow or make, than I can get out of someone else's clone-only, so why limit the choices and surprises. :Namaste:

Might grab some Slurricanes but wow 140 getting up there.
I want the Slurricanes as well but I am having a hard time dropping that much on them. But since your dolato run I wanna run a do-si-do cross and since I wanna do a purple punch cross this fits the bill. My buddy at work loves the purple punch. His friend is the one that spent 500 on the purple punch cut. Well my work friend said he can get me a cut of that and a cut of key lime pie for like $250. Which is still a bit much IMO.

Jesus I hate it when people try to charge that much for cuts, I don't care if it does get to 30%

I am with you on this. The guy it would come from is the guy that bred it out. He sells to a lot of dispensaries and I think his thought process is that it will devalue his harvests when he sells a cut to someone else. So he just gets the money up front. Still I do not feel like dropping that kind of money on it. I can buy a lot of seeds for that money.

The surprise is the best part.. I usually try to imagine what will come from these crosses and have visions of what I think the buds will look like.

I usually watch a few banks for deals so if I do see something good I'll give a holler.:thumb: Annunaki has some nice freebies though.. I really want that Noahs ark, Sounds awesome.

1000 is way to much for any cut.. I really despise these modern day growers that pull shit like that.

The only clones I've ever seen that were over 15 bucks is when the Gelato clones started hitting the clubs.

Still kinda pricey. There's a few other breeders making Purple Punch crosses too. I know compound genetics/tiger trees has a release coming up and clearwaterbuds from instagram has quite a few too.

Symbiotic has the PP f2s regs in seed form for 200, I'm just waiting for them to release online so I can get a Pack or 2. .

This... Most these thc tests are BS anyways. I don't think any 2 labs would come with similar results.

I was just looking for CSI genetics. I take it it is CSI;Humboldt. The couple of banks I saw that carried them had no pictures to go with them (I am a visual person) and not all of them even mention what the crosses were. I stumbled onto their IG page and everyting they had on there looked amazing. yet another breeder that looks to be doing things right.

250 for 2 cuts is stupid expensive. He said I could probably get just the purple punch for 150. Still pricey. i would have a for sure female that produces great bud as opposed to a pack of seeds for 200... I also dont like to take in clones due to them not being clean usually so I wouldnt grab them unless I could have someone quarantine them for me :laughtwo:

I am not on instagram but after you won that naming contest and seeing CSI having one almost makes me consider joining it :)

and you are only getting the results of a sample from one batch, one plant selected and likely pre-tested by the grower. Each plant is different even if from the same clone and in the same environment. It's just the way cell division is. Remember the driving force for these tests are marketing and cup winning. It gets worse too. Some of these guys are using the figure from the best test to advertise even if that strain hasn't produced those figures for years. Ugh. All will be revealed. :Namaste:
