Turbo Stang - NYC Diesel CKS - DWC Hydro

I'm doing my whole grow in a 5 gallon bucket... I was wondering how I was going to top water with a scrog, You use the vac to suck up the water ? I know current culture has 8 gallon pots and even 13 gallon pots.. I grow some pretty big tomatoes in a 5 gallon Res. But a 8 gallon deal would be nice.. Yes ultimately I'd like to have a big Res. Deal. But it's expensive right now. Plus I enjoy looking at progress every day. Once this grow is done it will be fall . And the next grow won't need ice .. It will be colder and I'm in a basement.. I love all the advice..

Never thought about a shop vac , that's solid advice . One thought is you could install a siphon tube in the bucket that you could hook the shop vac up to evacuate your nute solution and also use it as a filling tube if you have her in a Scrog .

Don't do the 2 girls 1 cup thing. I tried it once in a 10" net pot and ended up throwing them away, just didn't grow. I've seen people do a whole grow in the 5 gallon buckets, but once they get good size they will drink a lot of water. I like having the big water system, because I'll go a few days without going into my room. Scrog would be the way to go, but making a recirculating set up will make water changes easier. Also, having a reservoir makes it a lot easier to put you ice jugs in. Once you get them under a net you will not be able to simply pull the net lid up and out anymore. If you don't want to go the recirculating route, use a shop vac. Either way, I use a shop vac. The shop vac filter gets killed fast with all that water. Filters are $10-25, depending on the vac. Once the filter falls apart, get swamp cooler padding($10 for about a 3'x3' at Lowe's) , cut to size and use zip ties. Mine has lasted a year and is still good.

Love the shop vac idea .. That's solid advice .

New pictures... Yeahh. Crazy growth in the last 4 days.. 6 inches in height plus more dense. Drank almost a gallon of water in a day. Nutes started a week ago at 950. Now down to 490. Tomorrow I'll do a res change. Thinking about putting overdrive in.. Or too early?

Wow from 950 to 490 . That's quite a swing . How much water did she take up . I ask because it sounds like she is really hungry and you could up your nutes to around 1200 or so on this next res change .

I will do 1200 tomorrow. She drank 2 gallons In the last week.. So she needs nutes.

I concur . I would set her up with 1200 ppm and then check the water level and ppm after two days and see what she is telling you . Yep they talk to us , we just need to learn how to listen hehe :) .

Well I did the recommend dose of jungle juice . Plus 8 ml voodoo. 16mg sensi calmax plus. I'm at 1700 ppm 5.9 Ph , seems high. But I thought 950 was high. Like I said I have no nute burn. So we will see how this goes for the next few days. Funny how after she's out of the Res for 20 mins . She gets droopy...

I would agree on it seeming high and with keeping a close eye on her .

Yeah. I could put a half gallon of ro water in if I have to

I would say if your uncomfortable with the number that you go ahead and adjust it . Follow your gut ..if you do put straight water in it don't forget to ph it first . The number seems high to me simply because I have never went over 1500 in my ventures. But I can't say that I pushed the envelope to nute burn . I always focused on balanced water/nute uptake starting at the lower end of the scale and working my way up.

I would say lower that shit now. I have never had anything good happen over 1000 ppm in dwc. As for overdrive, way too early. You add that in weeks 6 and 7. Get a bloom booster for weeks 2-5. I just got something I haven't tried yet called monster bloom, I was told it works good in soil and dwc. It was fairly cheap, $15 for like 123 grams. 6 grams or just over a teaspoon for 5 gallons. I will add in the next few days when I water my outdoor.

Lots of theories on this topic. My personal M.O. is that once flowering hits - meaning, you have actual buds forming - start pushing the limits of your plants nutrient intake. Dial it up until you start to see signs of over-abundance of nutrients, sometimes the first thing you will IS nute-burn. Once you see that, start dialing back. Also, know that you'll most likely be stepping down the PPM levels weekly as the plant hits the end of it's flowering cycle. If *insert any plant or animal livestock* is hungry, then feed; just know that the line is fine and attention must be paid.

Glad to see that you lowered the ppms a bit . But like I have said that's just me . Everyone develops their own way of doing things and that right there makes things interesting at times .
