Tugafox 1st Indoor Grow - Soiless Mix- Money Maker - Grow Journal 2014

Very well seen Antics! :thumb:
I enjoy a lot teas and some of the packets I buy in the Natural Products Shop they do bring pieces of stem, ex: Echinacea & Dandelion.
Never tried MJ tea but it´s a good idea indeed!
In Hemp, stems are used to make fibers, paper, etc as they are extremely versatile and strong but in our small scale grows I think most growers just discard the skeletons.
I also never tried or though about trying Cannabis root tea.
:thanks: for the share

Good night Green Closet & Antics!
Thanks for the link Antics! :thumb: I´m gonna read it right away.
From my Herbalist curiosity, I learned the difference between Infusion & Teas. I guess that with MJ roots would be better to make tea and let it boil for, at least, 3 minutes. On the other hand, MJ leafs might be better for infusion and/or smoothies/jucing/edibles. I´m into edibles too. I came across an experienced grower sharing oil, butter and cream recipes on his youtube chanel and now I´m hooked :)

A high night for us :)

Have a great night as well Tuga! It's not the best information yet, but it's all I've come up with so far. I don't have loads of time this weekend, since it's my girlfriend's birthday weekend, so we're trying to stay busy, but when I have more time I'll look for more info on that. Honestly, I'd love to try everything possible with Cannabis, and a hot teat sounds great right now.

And I'm the same way, I'd love to be juicing, smoking, taking oil, having tea, cooking and baking with it, etc. I just think it's amazing. And yes, it's a very beautiful and relaxing evening here too. :)

Green, I agree 100%. As I explained above it's all I could find so far, I'll look some more when I have a bit more time.

I´m still reading it. Haven´t done my homework on this topic yet too but a quick Google search with the words: "benefits of marijuana roots" already led me to a few other links that, at first look, migh have more info. We know how recent studies about mj benefits using top-noch technology are scarce ...or well kept & only to the eyes of a few...
I look at ancient knoweledge too. They knew so much without the tech stuff we have nowadays.

Some mj cookies can knock me down :)

Sure Antics, enjoy your weekend w/ your girlfriend :rocker:

Antics that thread was interesting, it didn't provide me with as much info about benefits of cannabis roots as I was hoping though..
I see no harm in trying it out for ourselves, unless feedings include chemical nutes it should be nice.
A bunch of studies doesn´t convice me much but results seen by myself or other trusted fellows do ;)

Time to :rollit:

Hi Green Closet, good day to you!

Yeah, I worry about using chemicals in our ladies too. I´m unsure if flushing really cleans all chemicals, honestly I think it doesn´t. That´s one of the reasons I picked Biobizz, they have a quality seal of organic fertilizers.
I´m into organics and I have been reading about high-brix techniques. I just wish I could find here some of the ingredients other growers I´ve seen here use with good results, for ex: Kelp meal, crushed oyster/crab shells, etc. It´s not easy to go all organics but I do belive it´s the best way health wise. I´m a lacto-vegetarian - organics make all sense to me.
I will have to research more about the roots tea, or better: try it myself :)

:peace:

Hello beautiful people of :420:,
This week´s MM update:

55 days completed since lights were flipped.

1- As I mentioned in my previous update, in May 23 I gave the girls one last feed of 1/2 strengh bloom nutes. In my mind, once the girls have been in their final pots since March 20, I thought they might be hungry but that wasn´t the case - the next day they showed a bit of leaf tip burn and curl they didn´t have before.
Either nutes are really strong or the medium I used is hot. I think it might be both as my seedlings always show a bit of leaf tip burn when I use Composana mix.
After this I gave the girls a good drink of Ph´d 6.7 water (almost flush), they have been drying for 5 days now.
I already ordered a bag of Canna Terra Professional and a bag of Perlite for my next grow.

2 - This week, I received the LED I bought from a Forum sponsor. I now have 360 Watts (off the wall) of lights in the bloom tent.
It might only help a bit finishing MM but it will surely make some difference in my next tent grow - which is already on the making.
This flowering cycle had 12/12 until the middle of May, then 11 on /13 off and, last Friday, I changed to 10 on/14 off.

3 - I took some samples: MMB & C two lowest branches and 1 lower branch of MMA. Got 9 g. wet, 1-2 g. dry max. My scale only has 1 g. weight accuracy & it kept changing from 1 to 2 g.

Weight isn´t important for this first tent grow experience, it´s been more about learning, getting to know the strain and trying to finish with some quality weed.
After sampling I realized I´d better harvest with cloudy/milky Trichs cause, for me, the effects were couchlock enough :)

4 - Temps are still low for what is usual here in this time of year. Yesterday, it rained again. Max. temps inside the tent with lights on have been 26º C but RH average has been higher than I would like: 60% inside the tent.

This Friday, 30th May: 8 weeks completed since lights were flipped. Breeder´s info is 8 weeks, a few seed shops refer 56 days flowering time for this strain. Considering I only saw pistols 10 days after the flip, in the next days I´ll be watching trichs to determine harvest. MMA & B are closer to being ready than MMC so I´ll chop them first.

Today, before lights on, I snaped some pics in a bit of a hurry for this update. Say Hi & Bye to them girls as this is prob. the last pic update before chop-chop

Temps today before LEDs on:

Nice Cannabis porn :D

I prefer to harvest Cloudy/milky as well. I look for about 90% cloudy (And usually can spot a few ambers popping up here and there).

The feeling for me when smoked, it's a nice mellow with just a couple light hits. Smoke more and I can still get a little couchlock-ISH feeling, but not to the point where I'm really done for. I can still easily go do whatever, I like to think of it as the maximum level of relaxation that can be reached.

And you say weight isn't important? Ok, I'll take it all off your hands, it's looking like it'll be a quality smoke. Look at those dark frosty green leaves! It's Cannabis porn at its finest.

Those trichs are just all over the place Fox. That's definitely going to be some potent smoke.

Hi Antics, :thankyou:

Imo, harvest time depends on the strain and grower´s preferences/options. I´m running both Indica and Sativa dominant hybrids so I can have a "lighter" smoke for daytime and another one for night.

I assume you´re refering to "Quick One Auto" smoke. It´s nice to know your experience with it, thanks for sharing. I´m getting an update with pics of mine ready for tonight.
Quick One is a strain with around 13% THC, it´s a 3 times cross with 60% Indica, 30% Ruderalis and 10% Sativa so when I picked it I thought it might be a lighter smoke to relax in daytime. Plus, it has medium CBD content.
MM is a cross with OG Kush genetics and it´s 70% Indica, 30% Sativa - def. a more couchlock Indica dominant.

Yes, weight wasn´t that important in this grow cause: it was my first tent grow & I knew beforehand my grow space was under-lighted so I could never expects the same kind of results I would have with a +W HPS or more LEDs. Plus, the breeder´s info states this strain has small dense buds, which I now agree.

Yeah, most sugar leafs are well covered with trichs, am happy for this kind of frostiness and I don´t even feel like trimming them much... :)

Cheers

:allgood:

Hi BAR,
Oh yeah! It is already and I´m happy :)
I read some mixed reviews about this breeder genetics quality but I decided to give them a try with the cheaper beans. Although I had a strange leaf in one of the plants, I now can say I´m not disappointed with this strain and would run it again. The rose like smell in the buds is awesome!
