TrysHard's Hydro Grandaddy Blueberry Indica Grow 2014

hey mello got the hps light he is all excited. we did good bro. you will love your led its perfect for 1 plant. man i am so stoned. wow keep forgetting what was gonna type.
Your killing me man, if I go rip off a bud and dry just to try it, it will be your fault. I just went to the dispensary and I usually only get Indicas. But their specialty is a Sativa they call Blue Dragon, so I got it. You probably have seen in my pictures my vaporizer. It is a Purple Daze knockoff that I've had for almost 5 years now, I love it. The closest you can get to smoking with out smoking. If your not familiar with this type, you put your medicine into the metal end of the white tubes about .025G. Stick it into the end of the Vaporizer and draw slowly. Be careful as you can overdo it because you can't feel the vapor as much as smoke. At least at first you don't after using now for a long time its easy to tell medicine quality when using it. . . . . .

Well as you can see the Blue Dragon is pretty good because I just went off a huge tangent. Tasty too.

Here is the vaporizer with tubes and I loaded one and dumped out the medicine so you could see how much it uses. There is a dime next to it. I can get two huge hits out of it, and another good hit but you have to go slow and light draw, but it can be big also. This system cut down my medicine requirements by 50-75%. I'm home 24/7 and I get high when I want to. A quarter can last up to 3 weeks for me. If I want to get really medicated I do three of those tubes and I can play video games for hours. Three tubes is less than 1/10 of a gram. Here is a picture of it.

I was busy to day, getting my stuff together to set up a fill and drain Hydro system for Veg. Here is what I got:
P5164526.JPG

The Drain Tray is the clear one I had to find one small enough to fit into the tent which is 24x18x36. $6
The reservoir tub is a 10 Gallon one. I plan on using about 5 gallons for the fill. $8
The fittings kit I got from the Hydro store $15
The hose 1/2" Fill and 3/4" drain I got there also $3
The fluid pump $15 I also got there. I know I can save money on the internet, but if you don't support your local guy he won't be there when you need him in the pinch.
The air pump is a petco special comes with the hose, one way valve and air stone $14
Subtotal $46
Six 6" pots with air hole up the sides $12 for all six.

I'm going to have to cut a hole in the bottom of my tent to get the fittings through. I will cut out a section the shelf and place the reservoir below the tent. I will get pictures after the silicone sealer I used to make sure it doesn't leak cures. I want it to fully cure so I won't put it together until the morning. Please ignore all the extra X's in this picture. It took me a while to decide where to put the fill and drain fittings. I centered them so they should allow me to place the pots around them evenly.
P5164527.JPG

I now drilled the holes and have installed the Fill and Drain fittings, and silcone sealed them. I'll show the completed setup in the morning, but most of you probably already know how its going to look, since it is pretty much a crude Capn style setup. Mine being crude as compared to the Capn is what I mean.

yeah i like the new hydro setup. Down the road I'll try maybe. Once i get this AIS dialed in hello. Hey go clip a branch from lower part of a plant hang it so you will have some smoke from the BB's. I would do a branch every 4 days now. label it so you can compare later. you might be surprised.
Your like the little devil sitting on my shoulder. "Come on just a little bud, come on" LOL

Well as the little angel, "don't do it, patience is key. Don't give in to temptation. You know it won't be as good as a properly cured product."
And I just bought perhaps my last medicine from my dispensary and its pretty good. Still I'm tempted. I may have achieved one of my Bucket List items. Never to have to pay for Cannabis again.

Now that is a real accomplishment! I'm about a month away from joining you in that club. I'll bet it feels awesome, like the first time you have sex lol
Almost! :cheesygrinsmiley:

I am there. tryshard bro. taking a branch from the lower part isnt gonna hurt anything, what it will do is allow you to ahve some of it sooner so you dont get impatient with the rest. cut a branch hang it for a few days testing the stems for when they need to be trimmed and pu tin jars. it will also give you an idea of how long the rest will take to hang ect. i am saying dry and cure the way you normally do. BB is a great strain for picking branches a bit early to even a bit late. its jsut how much energy you want. the more energy wanted the earlier the pick. the more couch lock the later. cant wait till sunday bro. i am making medicine chocolate for my gf's friend. See if i can help this lady with her chron's. i still think i need to get a vaporizer with a big bubble bowl so she can scrape out the medicine. like Shona Banda did in kansas. she beet it. I hope i can help my friend do the same.

Thank you DC420 you just confirmed what I was thinking. Once the Trichomes begin changing to cloudy and through out the changing process I am going to pull a bud or two for testing...lol...yea right...but seriously though. At least every 3-4 days dry, taste and store. I purchased a set of those CVault storage tins. 4 small tins for the test and a complete set (multiple sizes) for long term. Also, once I harvest mine will go into the freezer for that long term. Not yet sure if I will use the tins in the freezer.

Anyway, spending the weekend catching up.

Hey DC420, pop over when you get a chance. I've been referencing your boiled water cure and got some interest from others. Be nice if the explanation came from the person I got it from.

lmao yeah you would love the high of the BB nice stone kinda spacey a bit. Totally relaxing with a little boost of energy. yours will rock i know. also i have the 1.5 grams of hash i made. I also decarbed 1 oz too make some chocolate/coconut edibles. Will make them Saturday have to find a really good chocolate for it.

Share that link for the chocolate PLEASE....LOL!

Hey, I'll only eat one cookie...yea right...lol. But with that crop you have nothing to loose and everything to gain...high that is...lol. You got to also test the high your looking for at each transition right? That's my excuse anyway...lol.

For the sake of testing :reading420magazine: I pulled a test branchlet. It was one that was in the way when I was checking the Single Plant LST in the tent. The training is suffering being in there. I can't do as much with it as I want to because moving it around now messes up the trusses. Here it is in the corner getting bushy:

So I pulled a branchlet:
P5174550.JPG

It weighs 7.4 Grams wet. I will weigh it each day until I smoke it. I will not be saving the test samples. I think 4 days between pulls is to long, you got me going with testing and I have plenty of popcorn sites like this. I will do one each morning now until the harvest. I will put together a detailed study each day with close ups of the buds. OK here is Day 1 Bud 1 Morning just before Night. I will pull another tonight just after lights on, I think that one will be cleaner.

Here is a better look at the main bud:

If I overload you on pictures the next two weeks, don't say I didn't warn you. Since this is what I consider my first complete grow, I have learned a lot and I hope my updates have given newbies the info I have gleaned from this wonderful forum. OK so I promised you closeups and here they are. I consider my Trichomes to still be some what clear, starting to cloud up.

These first three I used a medium magnification, it sort of looks like what I see in my 30X scope. You get a greater depth of field with lower mag. You can see the trichomes but they look cloudy, but I don't think they are. The higher mag one later show that.

I went as far as I could on these. You can see the Trichomes clearly. They are still clear.

Here is the bud in its new resting home for drying in the rack. You should like that DC it has torture innuendo.

So I think that is a sufficient response to your posts. Next post update on new veg station Fill and Drain system.

Keep checking each day as we will see a detailed progress towards harvest.

Ok today I will update the completion of my Fill and Drain Hydro veg station. Yesterday I made the drain tub. Today, I took the plants out of the tent and started the install.

Here is the completed drain tray.

P5164535.JPG

First thing to do is cut two holes into my brand new tent. It was tough material, I tried little holes and then shove the fitting through but the material wouldn't tear easy enough, so I had to cut out fairly large holes. Then there was the shelf grating to deal with as fittings would not fit between them.
P5164533.JPG

Luckily some diagonal cutters and liberal chopping opened up a large enough hole so the tray would flat.
P5164536.JPG

Here is the drain tray connected to the reservoir on the shelf below.
P5174537.JPG

Peek inside, the pump and fill hose, I zip tied the cord to it to keep things neat. The drain tube I shortened after this picture so it would lay on the bottom, also zip tied the air stone to it so nutrient will go through bubbles as its returned.
P5174538.JPG

First test with water no leaks, the silicone insurance well worth it.
P5174539.JPG

Filled up to this level.
P5174543.JPG

On to preparing the pots. What you don't see is I first put a layer of Hydroton down first, then the Rockwool cubes which had been soaked in my initial nutrient solution.
P5174546.JPG

So you don't have to ask the I am following the GH Expert re-circulation nutrient schedule, using the early growth step: Here it what I used per gallon:
Flora Micro - 7.5 ml
Flora Bloom - 2.5 ml
Flora Grow - 10 ml
Diamond Nectar - 10 ml
Floralicious Plus - 1 ml
Roots Excelurator - 1 ml (my change in the formula)

PH at 5.8 and PPM at 1108.

I also mixed up 7.5 Gallons for the main reservoir.

Next unwrapped the first plant, looked at the bottom seeing roots after just a couple of days, looks good for the first transplant. I will be transplanting these again when they go into the main tent E&F Top Feed System.
P5174545.JPG

Filled it up with more rockwool cubes, had to make sure they went down the sides, so I poked them down.
P5174547.JPG

Then I topped them with Hydroton to combat algae growth.
P5174544.JPG

Here are all six done in their new home all happy. I cut out the two CFL's and used four of the led lamps. I'm doing this until the heat wave abates, it was getting to 98F inside the tent. Dropped to under 90 with the light change. I know I need more light ,but the heat stress was too much. They will have time under good light to recover.
P5174549.JPG

The first Feeding you can see the nutrient level.
P5174548.JPG

Ok I hope that was beneficial for those who want to make their own. The entire F&D Hydro system cost less that $50. If you count the tent, the lights, temp/Humidity gauge, timers and shelf, I have less than $150 in the whole setup.

And whats an update with a BB grow overview picture for 5-17:

You should write up a DIY tutorial for your hydroponic system and make a post in the Do It Yourself forum!

Do It Yourself

I will I can use some earlier pictures to fill it in. I'm pretty happy with it. A CF and Fan is next, but that will almost double the cost, but help with the cooling.

Thank you for suggesting that.
