Trying Something A Bit Different

Getting some good growth, roots are beginning to fill the pots. This are 6 days from last pics and day 26 since emergence. Hope to put the SCrog screen on in the near future. Not really sure how to start the SCrog. Anyone have a good tutorial on SCrogging.
Here they were 11 days ago.

And today

May try to put the SCrog screen in place this week.

Those pics were taken last Sunday and here we are today 6 days later.

Topped the ladies on the 22nd.

Here they were three day later on the 25th.

So today I added the SCrog screen, fastened it down and put screws in the fittings to hold everything in place. Do not use glue so I can take it apart after the grow for storage. Irrigation setup and tested.

Hey Gr865, I wanted to run by you a question I have on training. I was impressed with the manipulation and training you carried out on your vertical latice type grow that you did a while back.

My forthcoming grow wont be quite like that, but rather a low (for stealth) quadlined/supercropped/LST outdoor grow. I remember how effective your supercropping was using a pair of pliers. What I want to do for my next grow in utilize something like the semi crushing with the pliers to hold back growth, especially in the stretch phase. Last time I simply trained for shape and made no attempt to curtail unwanted growth, and as a consequence I felt I ended up with a lot of unnecessary branch length that made for somewhat large cumbersome canopies.

My question is, and I'm think of the vertical 'flat' grows you did. Did you just train for shape or did you also train to inhibit growth as well, that's where I am thinking of partially crushing branches that are threatening to take off in an attempt to negate this. As ideally I just want my branches to be mostly colas, I don't want 4 foot lanky branches where only the last 1.5 feet have buds if that makes sense. Cheers!

The only problem I see with the pliers method, and I have only done that once, is, especially on the lower growth was it did not make good buds. Lots of larf.
Can you do a outdoor SCrog? That is where I am now, trying my first true SCrog, indoors of course.

Wouldn't the lower growth have been mostly larf buds anyway whether they were partially crushed or not?

In a way my plants last year were like a SCrog, they were about 2.5 feet high (as that is my stealth height limit) and 4 foot or so wide. Next grow I will prune off all weak larfy growth to hopefully just leave only the strong growth to branch out, I just want to restrict if I can the tendency for 'lanky' growth that would otherwise occur if I do nothing, so I thought next grow I'd use the pliers to give those branches a bit of a crimp every week or so to hopefully hold them back.

Ok, so we are two days from being 4 weeks into veg.
Does anyone have any idea of when I should start flower?

Plants are being trained in a counter clockwise rotation. so the plant in th e near left was the smallest and just now beginning to use the screen.
I am really unsure when I should begin flower I know I will have about 3 weeks of stretch

Guess you have to be here, I have gotten flowering recommendations from everyone but DJT, :)
Some have said I need to wait while others have told me I have waited too long.
So today, I did a the major defo prior to starting flower, going to give them around a week to recover and then flip. The screen is about 70% filled.
So yesterday I started defo and retie to getting them ready to flower.
Thursday.

And today after completion of the defo.

Don't like the way the twine is not ridgid, so I am going to the wire store and getting me some 48" wide wire, on 3" center and cut it to fit if this run comes out okay.
Not sure how the return will be, when I run vertical I have about 30 sqft of grow space and with the method I have less than 10 sqft. If I do just a screen to support the plant I can get 12 sqft out of the tent. Will see how it goes, With my vertical grow and my horizontal grows I have been getting 22 to 26 zips per grow so if this one does not match those grows I will go back to vertical.
This has been a fun experiment and building the screen was a hoot.

So I read today where the House is going to take up decrim. this week and I know they want to advance something but the GOP has already said it will not make it to the Senate floor, figures!

This is my rotating screen for my SCrog. Seems to be working fine. Now I can work on the plants without killing my back.

Just a couple of pics from today, day two of 12/12.
Top, should totally fill during stretch.

Got a good even canopy.
20200916_090642.jpg

And have the undergrowth cleaned up.

Headed to the city, got to go to the Hydro store and get a ballast replaced, under warranty, died on my last week, have a loaner from the store but need to take my old one in to get it replaced.

I like the plastic coated clothesline for scrogging. Cheap, and doesn't snag the stems.

I also like to clean up the nethers after the stretch is done. My reasoning is that the lower stuff can benefit root development, and I think the roots are where it's at for everything to come!

From the looks of things, you may need another net, lol!

One weeks growth, I am amazed!
This was taken last Sunday, 9/13, the day of the heavy pretrim. Started flower with lights out that night.

Here we are last night, right before the lights came on.

@HorseBadoritz
You may be right about the second screen, I hope not. I guess I need to wait till day 21 to do the flower trim, it is going to be a mess in there.

What do you think about the next trim?

I would already be taking some of the unproductive shoots off below the net, but leaving the fans until they finished stretching. I think the fans are adding more than taking away at the moment. I wouldn't be taking many from above, just me though. Nice job on filling that net, by the way!

Here is a pic of the undernet, I have already cleaned that up.

How about stuff like is, circled in red, or should I wait till the 21 day heavy trim to take stuff like that off. This is just one plant of four. Taken last night, (Day 13 of 12/12.

Here was just now after reading your post.

Do you have any pics of your setup and maybe some shots at given times during your grow? Just looked at your profile, good progressive shots of your SCrog. I am way so fucking overgrown!

Thanks man, this is new to me.
