Tryan2grow1 For The First Time

Hot damn your LST plant is perfectly symmetrical. I really like how your doing the LST vs NO-LST comparison. This will be a great reference journal in the future.

Still all of this with only cfls Comfy. Thanks for the kudos.

Your plants are coming along very nicely!

Thank you CG. We all have been blessed with a green thumb here. This team was born with the farmer's gene. Keep it up one and all.

Momentary panic, stupid move on my behalf, rookie mistake, now deep sorrow sets in. Whilst putting some LST to the "overacheiver", yup you all know what's coming, a stem was busted. Wow, feeling devastated. Took to my Marine Corps training and built a splint and attempted to heal the broken leg. We shall see what becomes of my error. Pics soon.

Still green. Time will tell.

We have all done it... it sucks when it's a big almost mature bud on the branch you break. Another option would be to make a clone with it.

Thanks CG. If no negative signs are seen in the next 24hrs then I'll leave it be. If the leaves begin to droop I shall take your suggestion and try my hand at a clone. The break was pretty bad, a thru and thru so to speak. Literally was only held together by a few threads. In any case thank you again for your support, really needed it at this time. Whatabummer!

No problem at all. Don't feel bad honestly. Think of it this way if it does die and you wait too long to make it into a clone or whatever, you will end up with a bunch of free space in the canopy. With some light LST that hole will fill in with nice bud sites within a week.

I'm sure it will be fine, I wish you good luck with the healing stem.
Here's an excerpt from a website that might give you some stress-relief over your broken stem:

Cannabis is a very hardy plant and it's capable of bouncing back from lots of stress and damage. However, this can work against growers as a stem that's broken and not set right will heal in the position it's in. In such a case, a grower can lose the top half of the broken stem when it could've been recovered.

That's where tape comes in. All that's needed is enough tape to keep the stem in its natural position until it can heal. Tape is basically a temporary splint or cast you can use to support the stem while it heals.

Use tape as a splint or cast for injured stems

In some cases (especially in hydroponics), broken stems that are given a 'tape-cast' can be healed and back to growing within the span of a week!

Tape saves the day yet again!

Think of tape as a temporary cast for your plants! Always remove tape after the injury heals.

Much like regular twist tie, making a tight tape-cast on a stem and leaving it indefinitely can limit the growth of the stem above the cast if it's too tight. Make sure that you check broken stems regularly and only leave tape on for as long as it's needed.

Comfy to the rescue. Thank you greatly for your support and words of encouragement. Sooner or later I knew this would happen. So live and learn. My lesson learned is to be just a bit gentler with the ladies stems when performing LST. And that exert was perfect. It answered several of my concerns/questions about what occurred and what I did as a remedy. First, was it ok to use tape? Tape was to be used. Then, how long to heal? About a week's time. So as you can see in the crime scene photo, a splint was attached as well as tape. Whew, intuition strikes again. Thank you again. Grow team grow.......

Thank you one and all for the good wishes for one of my gals. It saddens me to report, the break was too extensive to save. Checked on the top to find a wilted mess. No worries. I am over my atrocity to my "overachiever". Literally the limb was only held on by three threads. I broke it good. To fix this break would have required more of a graft than just a tape job. So amputated the effected top and put to clone. We shall see what happens. And like I have been told and what I believe to be true, this hole will fill up quickly. In fact two smaller tops have already decided that this new space belongs to them now. I'll gain again my courage to LST. Next time though, I shall use kid gloves on them. Updated photos to come tonight. May all have a great Friday.
