Triming lower fan leaves by 50% increases growth rate?

its also my 42nd birthday and im havin a few beers:party: .... but I know im in good company with 420 and if there is any chance of getting any progress... il find it right here :cheer:

just sarted to read this thread:partyboy:happy late bd. im burning one for you hope you have84 more! still on first grow, iam happy to learn anything I can. so keep on postin thanks:cool:

I wholeheartedly disagree. There is no way that trimming fan leaves will increase growth. It would go against the law of nature to think that removing part of a plants functionary system would make it grow more, not logical at all.
There are many posts about this, some that I have authored myself.
I would need to see some hardcore tests done before I would ever beleive it.

This is all there is to say on the matter. Nice post "Stilletto".
Spot on.

Hi fishcake,
This is my first grow also, I have always been enquisitive regarding anything I undertake, I have a natural curiosity for experimenting and just found that trimming excellerated growth, although I will be carrying out a more detailed field test on my next grow, I have rooted 4 clones of the big buddha cheese, I deliberatly cut two clones the same size and density of folliage, so they will be labled "fatty and skinny", skinny will obviously be the one to have her fan leaves trimmed, and fatty can just wallow under all the extra growth.

Ludacris, thanks for the input man, its always nice to get some positive feed back, il be keeping my eye on you for you obviously know alot about cannabis growing, you can be my grow guru, I could call you "guru Noop ini on", even stilletto didnt completly disregard the possibility that trimming encourages growth,

Fish cake, one thing ive found is "nobody knows it all", not even ludacris :reading420,magazine: ..., you will make your own mistakes and learn from them, even if "nordy rascal tecnique" isnt recognised, il still have a nice grow lol

Peace fish cake, il certainly give it a look mate, I done some radical trimming of the girls yesterday, basically I just removed any weak growth shoots that looked piss poor, what I removed was incredible, also as ive been trimming fan leaves ive been drying them out and smoking them, and if the leaves are anything to go by, the girls best bits are going to be amazing, I dont think ive ever smoked big buddha cheese before, although ive been told it is a worthy smoke, ive also got 2 blackjack clones which are "daisy heading", by the time they are ready, they are going to look like one great big cola :thumb: , il check out mcCrakins thread mate, cheers :goodjob:

I will agree that trimming fan leaves does increase the light to lower buds and thus I experienced better production from the lower bud sites as a result but my plants "growth" halted when I trimmed.

The buds that didn't get light due to intervention from fan leaves did get more development without the fan leaves there.

:Namaste:

Cheers Giants,
I wish that I had have measured the stem of the plant "above and below" the points at which I trimmed the fan leaves, because I dont know wether the excellerated growth came from the top of the plant, or the stem below the trimmed fan leaf..., (Note to self) "keep detailed measurments of each stem section above and below the trimmed leaf".

The first pic you can see the plants just prior to fan leaf trimming, the second pic was taken about a week later after trimming the fan leaves and clearly shows the larger plant getting much bigger than the rest, also as I said in a previous post ... the reason I believe trimming fan leaves work is because I trimmed plants 3 and 4 and they both grew at the same rate and are now conciderably bigger than plant 2 "plant 2 was the second biggest plant", not anymore:morenutes: ..., il post pics again soon.:peacetwo:
