Update time. Day 23 of Veg.

The ladies are getting really thirsty. They are drinking about 3/4 gallon each every day. I think I will be doing daily feedings at least through veg. I did some trimming of the ladies. I cut out some of the undergrowth and cut any smaller branches that would only support smaller buds. I think the technique is called lollipopping (that is if i understand it correctly).

It is such a relief to have the leak issues resolved for now (knock on wood). I was spending way too much time trying fix the leaks.

On to the pics!

Purple Kush #1 Day 23 of Veg - man this thing is dense. I keeping raising the lights to get these guys to stretch a little.

Purple Kush #2 Day 23 of Veg - I am trying something. I stopped LSTing this one 2 days ago. I think this strains natural inclination is to grow bushy. The top is still a little lower than the side branches and I am hoping from here on out the canopy evens out on its own. If it starts to get away from me I will just re tie it.

XJ-13 #1 Day 23 of Veg - the runt is growing. She is putting on some serious growth in the last few days. Hopefully she will catch up with #2

XJ-13 #2 Day 23 of Veg - this one is growing like crazy. It is far and away the tallest of the plants.

Looks great man! Looks like you have 2 phenos, or the others are just lagging behind that huge one. Any leaks since the fix?

You got it. The ones on the left are the XJ-13's (sativa dominant) and the right are Purple Kush (indica dominant).

No leaks....knock on wood and cross my fingers! :grinjoint:

How have your res temps been? Didn't you have probs with that before?

The temps range from 82 - 90F depending on how hot it is out side. They have been running in the lower range lately as I am adding almost 3 gallons of cold water everyday.

I am constantly worried about the temps being so high, but the plants seem to be doing ok. I really wonder if the daily H2O2 is keeping the pond scum at bay. I plan on using a daily treatment of H2O2 all the way through the grow.

Ever though of maybe some insulation around it? like taping it around or something? Or is the heat prob based on the air not getting out?

Thanks man! So far so good on the temps. The big test is when they get to flower. Will see what impact the temps have then.

It is great to converse with another first time grower. There is so much to learn, but it is as fun as hell learning it. And this community rocks. I have a feeling my grow would have already ended in disaster if it wasn't for all these good folks :grinjoint:

well everyone has to be a first timer some time and really i feel quite as ease with it being here, have a problem and voila people helping you out there a great bunch on this forum a real credit so pat on the back for everyone is a must....go on haha, i'll keep coming by my friend to see how your getting on :peace:

Allowing the plant to become mature first (the alternating node thing that you have observed).

The size you wish the plant to finish up at.

The time that there is space in your flowering room (assuming that the grower is using separate spaces).

And if there is an absolute non-negotiable harvest date, it's far better to flower a small plant completely than to prematurely harvest one that was allowed to grow bigger before it entered the flowering phase, so if you have such a set-in-stone harvest date, that is a consideration.

Speaking of considerations, have you thought about raising the light over your denser indicas to encourage a little stress? It looks like some of your plants' growth is shading the lower growth.

Hmm....insulating the buckets. You have me thinking. I do believe that the hot air in the cab raises the res temps overtime and insulation will help slow down the heating of the res temps. I will have to think about how I want to go about that. Great idea!

The cab temps are really high and that is a function of the cab being in the garage. We are forecasted for 100F+ days and I expect that will be raising my temps again. I have been toying around rigging a small ac to my intake, but I think i will wait and see if the heat starts impacting the ladies. So far so good, but I am not into flower yet.

I do believe that my daily H2O2 dosage is working well. I haven't noticed any issues with the roots and the roots are looking healthy. I think I will keep up my daily dosing of H2O2 until harvest. I hope that is the right decision. :grinjoint:

Thanks TS! This info is helpful. XJ-13's are alternating and the Purple Kushes are not. So I will wait for them to catch up. Harvest date is not an issue. As for space, I have quite a bit of vertical room left (6ft). So no issues there (I hope :-) ). Now comes the question of size. I think I want the Purple Kushes to be taller before I flower. I will use you suggestion of raising the lights to add some stress and stretch to the PK's. I am thinking about 36" above the plants (they are at 18" now).

Nice!!!

Another bene from this medium is eyeballin these exotic babes. I've never known formally either strain but those PK sisters are lookin thick with some awesome cola potential.

XJ13 has already been clearly described to me and I would/will jump on either strain if given a chance.

You should be pleased that your grow is lining up nicely. Hope the temp cooperates and the leaks stop forever (yours and our BP mess). :peace:

Thanks KX808! I am smoking Purple Kush right now and it packs a punch. I am looking forward to harvesting those babies! I have heard good things about XJ-13 but I haven't smoked it yet. Can't wait! :peace:
