Trala's Tent: A USA & Australian Comparative Grow

Omg for those of you who think I’m being overly tramatic, this is what I’m dealing with.

Expectation:-

Reality:-

I’ve actually given her a stern talking to. She needs to sort her shit out and start working with me. I even looked back at my Wedding Cake Album thinking Cleo looked the same at this age. She did not. I haven’t given up hope of producing something CarCanopyish, but I think it’s gonna be a stretch. Lolling!

She's doing fine, T- seems like Cleo was a little tall too, and she grew into it just fine...
Don't count her out just yet- I think she's gonna surprise you in a week or so..

What size pot is she going to end up in?
She might be about ready for that...

I won’t, but she’s def foliage lacking. She is a good colour and has a good structure to build on, but she’s defs runtish. Not in height but in leaves. I took two of her really big leaves, the first leaves off coz they were blocking too much light. I’ve carhooked the other two out of the way of her new growth, just because she really can’t afford to lose more leaves at this point. She needs every hair she has on her balding head.

I will finish her in an 18L pot. She’s not ready for an uppot. Well I don’t think she is. While she has height, she’s thin. Nothing about her says she needs bigger pants. I’ll get some pics today.

I’m two weeks into spring and it has sprung. I’m hoping this will help her get her grow on. She has potential that’s fo sho.

Good morning C Fish :)

Sorry I didn’t get back here yesterday. It was my boyfriends birthday and I was good girlfriending.

I made a cake if you want to see it @Grand Daddy Black lollling!

So I did have a look at Liv, and as you know I’m pretty uninterested in a plants roots unless there is a problem. I am more interested in leaf colour and healthy growth formation but I had a look at her roots just to be sure and she’s not uppot ready. Nice healthy white roots at the bottom of the pot, but she has room to develop.

She’s just going to be a slow starter. I don’t think she’s gonna be especially pretty and that’s okay with me, as long as her colour is good.

Thanks Trala, but no, I'll use my imagination! 😲

Sounds good to me- I actually transplant mine a little early- I do it when they get (what I think is) too big for the seedling light- I figure if I'm gonna turn on the big light, I may as well have a big pot in there...

The beauty of a side by side, seeing how different approaches are applied.

Sometimes it gives real insight, others show it doesnt make a huge difference, either way Im thoroughly interested.

Thanks you 2.

Hey C Bomb

She looks so much better for removing those two big sun blocking leaves. They say there’s just a fortnight between a good haircut and a bad haircut, thankfully with MJ it’s just days. Lol

While she’s a long way from being a swan, she’s definitely showing promise. That shade of green makes my heart absolutely sing!

That’s not my usual ratio empty wine bottle. I’d already put my big girls to bed, so I used the bottle I bought on my way home from work today. I’ll be opening it in exactly 63 minutes!

Hi Deeve :)

It’s super interesting to me too. Particularly since our CarCanopy goals are the same.

As you can see they are very different plants despite being the same seeds.

She looks good to me! Sisters often look different, even seed sisters aka - phenotypes.

Hey Tra. Your Olivia is looking good. Nice and green.

What size pot do you plant your seeds in and then when do you uppot and to what size?

Hi HG

I always start seeds in a seed tray with a seed mix.

I uppot a lot compared to you guys. I grow plant nursery minded. So I go from smaller to bigger till I get to their final pot which is an 18L.

I uppot when I see my plants need it.

Do multiple uppots make it harder to do a Carcass Canopy?

Hi Guys :)

AUSSIE! AUSSIE! AUSSIE!

🇦🇺 🇦🇺 🇦🇺

It’s Monday early evening here in Straya, and I’ve just poured a glass of red and I have The Hunna serenading me, so cheers 🥂

I really want to dazzle you all, but I don’t think this is the grow where I’m going to do it.

Her foliage is now a healthy green, and she has a couple more growth points, but that’s about it. She got a nit wash today, and a wee Carhook adjustment. She’s now a bees dick over one foot or 30cm. Nothing about her screams swan. I’m not giving up mind, but for now she’s just less than ordinary. She’s a hundred miles away from flipping that’s fo sho.

Happy Monday!
And it's an extra happy one because it's raining! in central California for
the first time in 6 months or so...:)

And that means it's time for a little Update from the USA side of this comparative grow!...🇺🇲

The little @Weed Seeds Express Zkittles is doing pretty well- she's 5.5 inches tall, and 44 days old today, she's been in the Grow Dots for 21 days and she really seems to like them...
The SaugaView®:
1A Zkittles.jpg

That pic ^^ is kind of deceptive, makes her look a lot wider than she is (she's only12" wide)
2 Zkittles.jpg

She needs water (half a gallon) every 3 days, and she also gets 3ml silica, and 1.25g Real Growers Recharge- so far, the dots and the Recharge are taking pretty good care of her. As per the Grow Dots instructions, I don't water to runoff.
Most of the main branches have reached the edge of the pot, so I'll be tying them down to the drip tray
starting tomorrow.

One of the main branches..just doing it's thing...
7 Zkittles.jpg

She's 27" from the light, which is set @ 120 watts. Even in it's new location, the temps in the box stay between 75-85f during the day- it goes down to 65 or so at night. I'm using the seedling mat for a heater in there during lights out. The seedling mat keeps it about 5 degrees warmer in there than it would be without it..probably doesn't matter a bit... but I do it anyway...🤔
13 Zkittles.jpg

I'm not sure yet when I'm going to flip her- the grow dots will start running out of nitrogen in a week and a half or so, so I either need to flip soon or supplement the dots for a couple of weeks...probably end up supplementing, because she's not going to be ready to flip in ten days (imo)

And that's about all from this side of the world!🇺🇲

Thanks for looking, we appreciate all of you!

Have a great week, see you next time:circle-of-love:
