Trala's Tent: A USA & Australian Comparative Grow

We wish great health to all
Thank You, GF! That's what I'm hoping for!
He’s so clever!

Best grower I’ve ever seen in my whole life!
Thanks so much for the kind words, Trala...
I'm speechless ..🥲...(but big smiling:cheesygrinsmiley:)
So true.

He changed the way I grow.
Actually, you were pretty damn good at it before I came along!
(but it's really cool that you like my grow method)
Them training techniques are awesome and work really well.
They're a little time investment during the second 30 days of their lives, but after that (If we're lucky) they're pretty much on cruise control till the end, unless they do some crazy stretching after 12/12- if so, you'll need to make adjustments accordingly...
I've not done lst before. just topping i might bend some branches down this time round and try get a wider canopy.
Tag me when/if you do- I'll help any way I can!
You might want to make some of these if you do decide to do some training...there's other ways to do it, but the hooks are sooo easy to use...

Ye no worries man al grab some. That would be sweet bro im 10 days in after sprout so should be coming up soon I think? I just have a question and Im not sure if al be sounding stupid by asking lol but by using the hooks and holding a stem with it what does that technique do to the plant?

what does that technique do to the plant?
Well, tying the main branches down seems to stimulate side branching on them, so you'll end up with 4,
6 or 8 main branches, and at least 30 "secondary" branches, and each one of them will grow into a bud..the secondary branches are the ones that'll eventually make up a lot of the canopy, and they're the ones that need training to keep that canopy nice n flat.

You can see here that the lions share of the colas end up coming from the secondary branches- they tend to be a bit smaller than the main branch colas, but there's about 30 of them, so you end up with quite a bit of weed...:)

Thanks for explaining mate. Thats a whole lot of branches lol it seems I need to find a way of tying them down to something as I can see them at the side are holding onto something underneath.

Here's something that @HashGirl graciously put together- I did a little tutorial awhile back, and she put them all together in one place.
You might want to look them over, might answer most questions you may have about the process.

Thank You once again, HashGirl!💚

Bonus al defo have a look thanks man. Would these skewers be long enough?

Would these skewers be long enough?

They will, they're the right length, but if the shaft is square, they may not work as well as something with a round shaft- dollar store skewers are perfect for it, and they're about a penny apiece...

Sounds like a plan mate. So when I get them i just bend a branch down? Can tell ive never done it lol

so when I get them i just bend a branch down?
That's pretty much how you start- when they're little you need to be very careful with the branches
because they break off real easy- especially the top 2 branches- (if you top the plant) they seem to break off a lot easier than the others.

My whole procedure is designed for a topped plant, btw...
I top above node #4, usually they're 12-16 days old when they get topped.
5 or 6 days after topping, the branches will be long enough to start (carefully) training them.

And, the shorter the seedling when you start training, the better.
Mine are usually 2.5 - 3" tall when I top them.
Plenty of light, immediately after they sprout, will keep them small for ya...

Can tell ive never done it lol
No time like the present- give it a try, I think you'll dig the results :thumb:

Thanks carcass this has made it clearer for me much appreciated. And its funny you say that because they are 3inch now lol at 11 days from sprout. I reckon in a few days time it'll be good timing for them to start. Al post pics on my thread, see what you think.

Thanks again :Namaste:

Time for a mini flip day Update on the USA side of this grow!🇺🇲

The Zkittles is 61 days old today, been in the Grow Dots for 39 of those days..

8:00 pm tonight, she begins her 12/12 journey...

So far, so good on the canopy...

I was hoping she'd be 10 inches tall by today, but she missed it by an inch...
5-9 inches tall.jpg

Spotted this yesterday morning, so I gave her 1g. of 8-0-0 CalMag Pro, to hopefully keep it in check.

And finally, an out of the box shot- except for a few spots on a few leaves, she's pretty healthy going into flower...

That's about all for now...
Thank You for looking:love:
We really appreciate the support!

So from extraordinary to ordinary…. lolling!

My Olivia is starting to slowly find a shape.

She was uppotted into her final pot yesterday.

She got a bit of supercropping and carhooking to hopefully encourage the shape I want. I kind of right angle her.

She may have lost a bit of width and length because I kind of supercrop her 4 main branches to create my perimeter. The tops of those branches become my CarCanopy goal. From here I want my inners to grow up.

Bit of a funny, I strive to grow a plant like carcass, and through veg I don’t even get close! Hopefully flower will even her out. Whiles she’s not my dream plant, she’s defs looking better in shape.

Like C Sunset says, thanks for taking an interest in this comparative grow. It’s actually my favourite way to grow, along side your friends that is, and word of warning, my goal is to grow a plant with every single fucking one of you! Not even joking! Xo

She's looking real good, T!
I think she's gonna fill in real well by flip time- you know how much they can change in a short time- Olivia will be a supermodel by two weeks from now, I can see it...👀

You are both totally awesome! Loving this grow.

Happy Monday!

It’s that time again already!

Well Olivia is finally sort of playing the game! Hooray!

Her growth has been steady, and she’s filling in those growth holes. I’m really wondering why my plants are always tall and gangly and I think it has to do with my light. Because I use the sun and a Mars Hydro TS 1000, I’m not getting the perfect constant coverage, it’s either that or I don’t know lol!

So growth wise she’s still going up and out.

My CarCanopy line is clear now. My focus is moving that middle up. I use Carhooks to hold my 4 goal posts in, as well as Carhooks to guide my branches where I want them to go. I say Carhook, it’s more a Trahook, coz you need a reinforced hook if you want to keep my girls arms controlled lol.

Her colour is bang on perfect and CarCanopy is shaping. I’m really starting to see what might be. As hard as I try I can not get that beautiful neat shape Carcass does straight away. My plants always start out as super ugly ducklings.

I think that is one of my favourite things about this process. You don’t have to be perfect, or beautiful to shine. If you surround yourself with people who genuinely want to help you, do the work, practice while constantly trying to improve, beauty comes shining through.

Your move C Song :)

And I hope you all have the best Monday everrrrrrrrr!

Lekker lekker Tra. She is looking lovely. She's got her prayers on and is bulking up in the canopy. It's such an exciting process. I think each canopy trainer and each plant are so unique, and you really do make them sing. I can hear her melody from here!
