Trala’s Tent

My hairdresser is a legend and he opens his salon at 0800 for me (he usually opens at 0900). So I'm currently sat cape on, half head of foils and a colour cooking.

I have posted this pic before and it is EXACTLY how I feel right now.

:( :( :(

Thanks for finding that information. I have had such a good run. No nits at all on the big ones and the clones are good too.

I wonder where the nits go in winter?

Being bogan has nothing to do with the bush mate. And for the record, I'm now the new breed of bogan known as a CUB which is a cashed up bogan. I'm still a full bogan, I just drive a nicer car, don't need to hock my gold on the off dole week and I live in a nice house ;)

Don't forget that Bogan are terrible poets! Disgusting! The third worst in the galaxy! Bogan poetry is so bad that--

Excuse me?

Sorry. I've just been told that VOGON poetry is the third worst poetry in the galaxy. Not Bogan. I apologize.

Carry on.

Hashgirl I’m all about the off topic :laughtwo: :laughtwo: :laughtwo:

I could never do a sponsored grow.

I love to read. Actually it is one of my favourite things to do at the moment. And sweet mother of Jesus I thought the word segway was segway. Why are there red lines under it! I’m literally sat here racking my brains trying to work out if I’ve ever written it!

What sort of mental defective invents a word that sounds like segway but spells it like that?

The word "segway" is spelled "segway". I'm talking about the word "segue", which is pronounced as "segway". :battingeyelashes:

Who are these word inventors?

Word inventor: see this pokey thing I’m picking my food up with? I’m going to call it a fork F-O-R-K
Kevin: great idea, well done mate!
Word inventor: And see this stabby cutty thing? I’m going to call it a... Hmmmm....
Kevin: Oiiii call it a shork a sharp-fork
Word inventor: No, I think I will call it a nife but Kev in your honour and to fuck with people who are learning to read, I’m going to spell it K (for Kev) N-I-F-E

I know that we're just getting to know each other, Tra but I really love you. You're so funny and real and it's great!

What kinds of books do you read?

Dudes...I've always been a reader AND I was raised around a bunch of french canadians...I fuck up words extra good trying to gender basic words in a non-gendered language.

What do you read, Tra? You too, @HashGirl ?

Typically, I only read fiction. I do read non-fiction from time to time but 98% of the time it's fiction.

My favourite genres are (in order from most to least):
  1. Mysteries (not cozy, though)
  2. Romantic Suspense
  3. Fantasy - Young Adult
  4. Suspense
  5. Sci-Fi - Young Adult
  6. Sci-Fi
  7. Humourous Fiction
  8. Historical Fiction
I've been tracking what I've read since 1999. I read 1 to 2 books a week depending on its thickness both literally and figuratively. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I  recommending books to people so if you want any suggestions, let me know.

My favourite thing is finding a new series to love.

I tend to go thriller, historical, comedy, thriller, historical, comedy. I am reading a thriller at the moment.

If I had to pick 3, My favourite thriller type writer is David Baldacci, omg I want to [*removed by Admin due to lewd content] John Amos so so bad!

My favourite historical type writer is Ken Follet his writing made me realise I’m not stupid.

My favourite comedy type writer is Marian Keyes - omg she is fucking HILARIOUS! I swear I could be friends with her. She is a mad Irish woman. Her books are just fluff and bubbles, but funny as fuck fluff and well written bubbles. Well I think they are. Her book Watermelon is my favourite so far.

What about you?

And if you say 50 Shades of Gray friendship over.

O M G

I am so confused. I spoke to my wordsmith and he says segway is a word too. But look:-

Thank you Hashgirl. I’m definitely an “acquired” taste. And I am not everyone’s cup of tea, and I say fuck them coz I drink coffee that’s ok, I don’t take it personally. When I say I don’t, I do, but I pretend I don’t. LOLLINGGGG?

I read a bit of everything really. Love a mystery, love a suspense, fantasy you can stick that in your arse, actually I shouldn’t say that, I have recently read my first fantasy and it was proper clever. What is it when you have different versions of the world. I can’t think of the word. But it was really good. I’m not into SciFi, look I say I’m not, but I’ve never tried. Love humour, love history coz I learn while reading.

If you had to pick 3 of your favourite books for me to read what would they be?

OMG it takes me 3 - 4 weeks to read a book.

Schmick used like noice? That was so schmick?
Omg no.

You: Tra I got a new car
Me: Fuckin noice maaate

Allow me to respond in haiku:

You should know better than this.

Your haiku is weak as piss

I love the Aussie 'as'. And 'yeah' as a replacement for a question mark.

BOOKS: No fucking Twilight. I grew up on Anne Rice, tyvm. I hate to admit it but I mostly read non-fiction now but fantasy/horror like Clive Barker, Peter Straub, and Tad Williams used to be my favs. Love Russian writers and history so I can recommend anyone wanting to get into russian writers start with Cancer Ward by Solzhenitsyn. It's one of the less dreary ones most closely relatable to modern Western culture. It even has some decent romance (which I tend to not like). Fuck I sound boring but the last books I read were on Poland's use of civilian police corps to aid Nazi Germany's concentration and extermination in the camps. Just finished one on a small group of hunters in Greenland attempting to repel the Germans to preserve one of the most critical weather station of WWII, AND...a book on Stalin's daughter. I uh, kinda dig WWII/Cold War history >.>

OMG it takes me 3 - 4 weeks to read a book.

My 2 favourite David Baldacci books are Absolute Power and The Winner.

Three favourite books will be hard to narrow down but I will do my best.
  • Going Postal by Terry Pratchett (humourous fantasy)
  • Tell No One by Harlan Coben (suspense)
  • A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles (historical)
  • Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (historical fantasy)
  • A Certain Justice by John Lescroart (legal mystery)
  • The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith (mystery)
  • A Great Deliverance by Elizabeth George (mystery)
  • The Various Haunts of Men by Susan Hill (mystery)
  • Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld (YA sci-fi)
  • Unwind by Neal Shusterman (YA sci-fi)
  • The Unsung Hero by Suzanne Brockmann (romantic suspense)
  • Fat Tuesday by Sandra Brown (romantic suspense)
  • Anyone But You by Jennifer Crusie (humourous romance)
  • Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati (historical)
  • Before She Disappeared by Lisa Gardner (suspense)
  • Dark Lover by J. R. Ward (paranormal romance)
I'm getting carried away. There are just so many good stories. The ones above haven't even touched my list of around 2000 books read.

Anyhow, I started this post hours ago and I'm high and tired and am going to go check out FB for a little while before bed.

Night, Tra.

:ciao:

I went through a long WWII/Cold War phase a few decades ago and kinda got tired of them. I still read them on occasion but they're no longer my favourite.

You would love talking to my niece then. She taught herself how to speak Russian (and Japanese) and loves anything Russian. I gave her a subscription to Russian Life magazine for her 15th, 16th and 17th birthdays.

@HashGirl she sounds like I'd like her <3

@DeeBoy pfft, it might be big but it's only running because of pipe clamps, duct tape, and clever emotional compartmentalization \o/ (also whatever, nuke...I know you know math)

Cancer Ward is surprisingly positive despite its setting and overall theme. Well at least for Solzhenitsyn :D

I was no nuke, we were referred to as forward pukes. I loaded torpedoes because I wanted to blow shit up.... never got to... And then another bubblehead who owed me $5 gave me a bud instead, I smoked it over the weekend, and piss test on Monday. I went from average on a submarine to a super genius on an aircraft carrier.
