Thirvnrob's Canuck Seeds Double Chocolate/Acapulco Gold Comparative Grow

Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays!
The Double Chocolate are finally perking up!

The Acapulco Gold continue to outpace the Double Chocolate, but the Double Chocolate have pepped up & look more like they're ready to rock. This has always been my favorite part of the grow. I've learned how to keep them healthy through veg, it's flowering that gives me heartburn...

It'd been pretty easy to maintain the environment lately although I've switched to using my dehumidifier instead of the humidifier. The RH changes daily here, but the ambient temp has been in a consistent enough range that RH is all I need to worry about. That said, I get different different RH readings using an infra red temp gun - usually higher by 3-5 percentage points. The gun reflects a different story that the hygrometer tells. Am I the only one? This is a pretty consistent daily reading, and the leaf temp is always within a degree or two...

Here's what I mean about things being inconsistent:
This hygrometer is on a short file cabinet about3' away from the lights & plants.

Am I overthinking it?

Am I overthinking it? That's a pretty big difference in leaf temp. Their canopies are about even...

I don't see much difference in the temps, just the RH (unless I'm reading that wrong.

Thermometers read 77, 81, and 79. The RH on the gun is way lower than the meters but I've never seen a temp gun that measures humidity before!
The infrared shows a 6 deg difference from the girl next door. I'm not sure I trust the RH reading...

Tied down a few more branches on the Acapulco Gold today & did a little super cropping on one. The Double Chocolate are still behind the AG, but I foresee a growth spurt in the near future.

The AG are gettin’ kind of bushy but not out of hand - they’re responding well to the LST. Can’t wait to flip ‘em. I had hoped to flip them & the DC at the same time but I might have to flower one or the other in tents. I’m set up to do that but that’ll require another heater, humidifier & another dehuey. Also, I’ll have just two girls under the giant light. I’m hoping that doesn’t become necessary, but if it does I can manage it. Not looking forward to the power bill though…
Nice, even canopies. Note to self: pay better attention to plant orientation in the pots…

Well dang, I snapped a main branch. I tried to save it, but it wasn't to be...

Today is day 45 above the soil. I’m planning on flipping them in two weeks. I’ve gotten good at keeping them healthy though veg but things usually go south shortly into flower. I wonder if top dressing & watering from the top a couple times is a good idea?
Hope everyone has a happy new year!

Happy New Year to you too! Honestly, Shed, I wanted to try & root it…
I took the shoot from underneath, which had been slated for removal soon, & pinned it up so it’s almost even with the rest of the rest of the canopy. It’s worked for me before…
