This is the most recent photo from this week. I will take more pics and post later today!

Re: TheNewbies grow journal (autos)

Hps bulb up and running! The amnesia is 5 weeks 4 days old out of a 10 week lifespan, and the widow is 4 weeks 2 days out of 9 weeks both were fed light nutes today

Re: TheNewbies grow journal (autos)

I would think you'd see Trich's any time now.

Don't count too much on what the breeder says about how long the plants take. Once trichomes do form, you will look at those, and when they have a favorable amount of amber trichs (more amber, more couch-lock) you are ready to harvest. I had an auto on my last run that went 38 days longer than it was "supposed to:

Re: TheNewbies grow journal (autos)

Two of my autos were right on schedule. So, you never know. Just be prepared for them to take longer than expected.

When I started that grow I though all three would come down at the exact same time. I had no idea that different strains grow so differently. When two were ready to come down first I had to get creative. I took cardboard boxes and made little "huts" to go over the girls I was about to harvest, so the other one could continue to get light While the girls got their 48 hour dark period before harvesting.

Re: TheNewbies grow journal (autos)

Yeah. A lot of the really good growers put their plant into a dark period for 24-36 hours before harvesting them. Something about the dark period is supposed to force the plants to produce more resin. I don't know if it works or not. It's one of those things that enough good growers do it so I follow their lead even though I don't really understand it.

Some really good growers don't do, so it's not required.

Cultivator, a really badass grower, puts his plants in the dark for 36 hours, I believe

Chronichemphog, also a really badass grower, does not use a dark period.

Read up on it a little and decide for yourself if it's something you want to do. I think it's more of a preference, than anything else. I'm sure someone else around here can explain it much better then I can :)

Re: TheNewbies grow journal (autos)

I would agree with SweetLeef

There are tons and tons of people who say one thing and just as many who say the other.
Its best to just test these things for yourself to see what kind of results you get.

I myself harvest just before the lights turn on so the nutes dont get sent up from the roots... this is again just something I had heard.

Re: TheNewbies grow journal (autos)

Exactly what I figured. It doesn't hurt em, and could possibly improve them, and all you have to do is turn out the lights. The hard part is not going in there for 24-48 hours :laughtwo:

Re: TheNewbies grow journal (autos)

I read a study where plants were given 24 hours of darkness before harvest and plants were not given a period of darkness before harvest. Both plants cannabinoids were tested and were nearly identical, the myth of giving your plants a period of darkness before harvest has been debunked.
