TheBlaze: Genesis, Chapter 1, Verse 1

It is dependent on quite a few variables. Strain, environment and nutrition. Also, the flower cycle definitely goes through phases. You will notice most strains will step it up in weeks 3, 5 and 7. Purple Envy will pack on bud consistently until week 7 and then just stall completely. That is not the norm though.

If you're looking for those long, stacked colas then you need to seriously consider HPS lighting. Nothing beats HPS when it comes to bang for buck. For me, it is still the gold standard. However, HPS comes with some drawbacks. Mainly heat. Which brings me to environment. Temp plays a massive role in an ideal environment. In SA, air conditioning is a must if you run HPS.

Nutrition, well that is pretty self explanatory. Plants need the good stuff, in the right amounts and at the right pH. You just need to find what works. Trial and error can not be avoided.

Over-watering is one of the biggest issues newer (and not so new) growers face. Pot weight is the easiest way to know if your plants need more water, but in coco you shouldn't be giving massive amounts of nutrient solution and then have to wait days for the medium to dry. This will cause problems for coco's CEC. Rather give your plants less solution with each feed. Rather a little thirsty than a little bloated.

I hope that helps.

Thanks man, very helpful. Yeah my grow was showing the stall at 7 weeks too in the DWC but my soil grow seemed to go for longer but could be strain / nutes like you said. Just want to know more or less what too look for. And I'm pretty much invested into LEDs right now and not too concerned with bigger yields. Growing too much as it is so I'm getting a rosin press built up. And I've needed an AC for the LEDs too, could probably get away with using it less if I piped the dehumidifier exhaust out but during winter it's a free heater.

Thanks for the watering tips too, doing a run of bagseed kush in a mostly coco mix to use up some bio bizz nutes I bought at 1st and the watering has been tricky.

Biobizz is not recommended for coco. I got that info straight from the horses mouth. Was news to me as well. It's not that it won't work, it just doesn't work very well.

Hey so some further research shows that the bio-bizz is a great extra additive for any base nutes you run in coco but yeah on its own not so great. Mostly recommend for soil growth and there also as an extra additive. Interestingly the way I'm running the soil organics (following Sun Valley's tech) the bio bizz does nothing for it. Had 3 plants and fed one extra bio bizz and it showed nothing extra.

Yeah, biobizz is a great product, but it's all organic and requires life in the soil to do it's thing.

3 weeks of 12/12

Now the action begins. Got a nice whiff of that typical funky fruit smell when I opened the tent this morning. First time that has happened. Right on schedule as well. LOL! The 2 headbands have also started pumping out some resin. They should finish nice and frosty. I took a photo to illustrate.

Thanks Penny

Forgot to mention, that I started using pk boost yesterday

Thanks bud. I will be interested to see how the cobs perform vs the HPS. I'm still running the Gavita at 750w, but will turn it up to 1000w today I think. Just need to get the AC running.

That's an amazing looking tent there blaze! Switching over from hps to Quantum boards and cobs so will see if yields for the same strains are close. I'm guessing not but you are absolutely killing it! Couldn't look any better!

You familiar with a guy on youtube called grand master level? (Yeah the name is a bit pretentious but his grows are pretty epic looking) he did a daily series of hps vs leds on the same strain. On his 2nd run the leds out performed the HPS and he actually replaced all his hps with leds now. He's running qb's from horticultre lights. He has a very large grow facility so part of the swap over was also to free up electricity for more rooms.

Have you used this before?

Yes, but only for about 8 days in the last run. So this time I'm using it as intended, from week 3.

Day 24 of 12/12

Not much to report. The big 707 is going to be a beast. Stacking incredibly well. It is the more sativa of the 2 phenos I have going.

707 - The Beast

Yeah, she is looking very promising. I just hope Anubis will come good as well.
