I grow in soil, always have. Never had an issue with bugs of any kind and I keep my soil outside in a storage box. BUT, before I use it, I water it in with sns-209. This appears to kill all any any bugs before the soil even sees a grow space.

Got one in the cup for you, no indications of anything but it's only been 36 hours. Got two tappers into the dirt, off the paper towel this morning. Couple more tappers growing out and likely into the cups later today.

Purchased my soil after trolling the soil grows. Paranoid about bringing organic stuff intoy room I placed over two solo cups worth of this premium expensive soil in a Pyrex baking dish, covered with foil added enough water to get a good steam and baked it for 45 mins at 200f let it cool overnite in my room. Next morning gnats everywhere.
I am out!
My seedlings are now in pearlite, and I am now at DEFCON . Fungus gnats suck! You dirt guys have a lot on your plate. Organic guys? I have a new appreciation for that tite rope you must walk.

I'm at the same point after a 12hr soak and approx 14hrs in the paper towel. Only 1 out of 2 have a taproot. Probably will put it in a jiffy pellet tomorrow.

So far, no sprouts. I planted directly in soil though without soaking. It's usually a minimum of 3 days for my Blue Mystic seeds to sprout, so it should be above surface soon. I actually peeked and saw a taproot

I dropped 6 beans and got tappers on all six. Got BB up too. 4 more taps = 4 more plants.

Ive got 3 above ground, two more under, and 1 last cracked and tapping on the towel. This grow is looking good!

I was out of town for two days, so I put enough water in the paper towel and covered the whole thing with a little bowl to keep it moist. Now I'm back and everything went very well, considering it's a 12-year-old seed: The shell is now open and there's a little taproot showing. I will put it in soil tomorrow.
