The Quadsquad Thread: A Community For Quadlining

I am doing quadlining with my current grow. I have two harlequin a critical cure and purple erkle, candyland, cookies & cream and three granddaddy purple x thai stick . all were topped at the fourth node, and nodes one and two removed except the GDP x TS in the small containers, the cookies & cream are about a week behind the others and just topped yesterday. This is my fourth grow in coco and my first time using Mega Crop nutrients please let me know good or bad how I'm how I'm doing.

Purple and Candy look a bit hungry. Too light of green. Harley is headed that direction, but not at the point (yet) of the other two.

Not sure where you're at with the current g/gal feeding, but I'd jump those two up a gram at next chance.

I'm currently feeding at 1.25 ec about 1 tsp per gal. The last feeding I forgot to ph the solution and it was 6.5 ph too high for hydro

I'd be feeding 4-4.5 g per gallon at that stage. They for sure look hungry.

Since switching to Mega Crop my ec meter has sat unused. Feed by grams per gallon or liter. Don't feed by ec.

Not too high, but damn near. If your meter is off 1/10th, then it could be. But certainly pushes the 5.5-6.5 to its very limits. :D

This. I track my EC, but only because that's part of the monitoring setup. I don't really feed by any specific target number. It is helpful for me though, as I can see if the plants are eating more vice drinking more and use that along with the direction of pH drift to keep an eye on where things are.

I am using ec to make it easier to mix the mega crop weighing it is too much of a hassle I mix 5 gallons at a time and feed al the plants at once with my drip system it's much easier than hand watering for an old guy who's been growin for 50 years. I pump the nutrient solution into this container then it's gravity feed into the pots I'm trying to keep all the different strains happy I do think it may be time to bump up the nutrients

I am attempting a quadline on this Cali Orange
I have posted this on my signature page if anyone wants to follow there

Quadlining

An attempt on a Cali Orange plant
This plant was topped and then the resulting two top branches were topped again above the third node
The bottom two branches developed slowly so up to this point I have left them but they are reaching a point where they too can be topped.
This is what this Cali Orange looked like after the second topping

Then I pulled down the top two branches, attempting to bring them down at least parallel with the pot level
20200415_163042.jpg
The bottom two branches are, in my opinion, to frail to be bent .
I decided to leave them for a couple of days and today I noticed that they have almost grown enough to be stressed outwards and topped

One can see the difference in growth between pic2 and these pics in the bottom branches
I also noticed that the nodes on the top branches have turned upwards, reaching for the light

I think this will work
Will give a week or so before a bit of selective defoiling to allow light through to lower nodes affected by leaf shadows

Thought I'd toss my girls in here for your enjoyment. Birthday Cake bagseed grow. Technically all 3 started quadlined. Topped at the 4th node and lowers stripped away. One's a trio not a quad now due to an accidental amputation.

This was my first attempt to quad clones so adjustments to my process had to be made.
I was vegging under a "Full Spectrum" cob light I usually use for flowering. Didn't have it dialed in quite right and my node spacing between 3 & 4 was too far apart. So I trained the main stem between the nodes 90 degrees so it was horizontal. That flattened things out nicely. I've just supercropped and tied them down to this point. I used nylon ziptie anchors on my netpot lids to provide attachment points for my training wire.

This is 32 days of veg from cloning. 18 days from the clones rooting.

Trying for a 3'x6' canopy between the three plants. I'll veg for another week then let them go vertical. Probably flip to flower at 10"-12" canopy height.

Hope everybody's gardens are green!!!

My 2nd grow using quad line training! Getting ready to put into flower soon!

Really nice looking ladies. Don't know if you need it, but you could gain more head room if you set your bags on plant elevators in your waste containers. I've seen here that you can use suet cage bird feeders too.

Thanks man! I’m actually good for headroom thanks to lots of training....I actually need them to start getting some height lol! I did originally look at the elevators but they are pricey! If I need I can also cut some more off the legs those are just resin shelves I repurposed thanks for the suggestion though!

Beautiful plants Deecee

Thanks Penny, your help has been amazing in getting here!

Harvest day for my northern lights! Will have a weight & smoke report when she's dry in a few days
