The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

The funny part is I've done all of those things.   I'm getting by on 4-5 hours sleep a night, on average. Lately there were an inordinate number of three-hour nights.

It doesn't look good for me, does it photos? :laughtwo:

your canna tetris is becoming chronic!

doctor prescribes more tents ,plants and edibles to fill the void ! the circle continues!

nobody ever makes a full recovery LOL

I tried the tinctures, using vodka, but I don't like hard alcohol. I make GOOD tinctures, too, using the phases of the moon to start the brew, etc. I have a bottle of some high-powered Bacardi, but one tiny sip of that nearly laid me out FLAT! So it sits unused in the cabinet.

The capsules seem to be the easiest for me to ingest, as I'm terrible at baking. But I can cook up cannabudder in my mini-crock pot just fine. :-)

I'm so sad I can't use the powdered lecithin, as it was really expensive at the health food store. I'm certainly not going to buy more, just to get the extra kick from a liquid. I'm not in it to get stoned out of my mind, just for pain relief without resorting to addictive, prescription chemicals.

I also believe in using as much of the plant as possible. I have very little waste when I trim. And I have separate containers of dried leaves, shake, and buds by strain.

You can use the powdered, and I encourage you to do so. It'll speed absorbtion too. My meds trend high in THC and sativa-dominant, by choice. My system operates on a higher frequency, for lack of a better term, than many other people. I also don't have many physical or health challenges to medicate for. I do take CBD capsules daily, and they've helped with pain in my upper back and to improve my mood. I know they're helping with inflammation.

When I speak of absorption speed in your case it's to get the CBD meds in there more efficiently. If you use olive oil instead of butter in that crockpot and add some powdered lecithin you get more potent meds that bypass the liver and go straight into the lymphatic system after the trip through the stomach. My personal experience with THC delivered this way is that it flies through the stomach. Lol! You won't feel the CBD as euphoria, but as pain relief.

I cook my capsule oil in a crock pot. That quick batch, in a custard cup, sitting in the crockpot for two hours, made 48 capsules.

I'm limited by the number of circuits in the mobile home. One room has 3 grow units of 8 to 9 sq ft, and when all 3 are in use, the circuits are maxed out. Of course, I run them on alternate shifts, which helps keep the heat down, and the circuit from tripping.

Since my Bedroom is on the same circuit as the grow room (not very many circuits to choose from), moving one won't solve anything. And, we are required by law to keep our grows secured and out of sight from passersby.

EDIT: so that means no outside grows.

I'm blessed, in that one of my late husband's many talents was training in electrical technology. We improved the wiring in our antiquated apartment right before his health went really, really bad. I have a dedicated line for the grow, a 20 amp breaker with lines running to the bedroom and the living room. Electrical wiring I know is trustworthy because I helped install the breaker, lay every inch of wire and assisted in the installation of the boxes.

Like I said, blessed. Legality has yet to catch up with me.

I make the cannabudder, and sometimes remember to put lecithin in it. I know I must get some kind of head buzz from it, cause when I take 3 capsules a couple hours before bedtime, I start getting slightly dizzy around 11 pm or so. And I sleep very soundly!

The capsules I have are made from OGK (sativa-heavy) leaves, with a few larfy buds tossed in. I have not made any cannabudder with the BBL yet.

Sometimes the cannabudder made from real butter upset my stomach, so next batch will be made with coconut oil. I prefer to use a fat that is solid at room temp, but I do store them in the freezer to keep them fresh.

Coconut oil is a medium-chained fatty acid, so it goes from the stomach to the liver and you're confronted with the challenge of getting the cannabinoids through without being metabolized and made medicinally void. Do you take any steps to include competitive inhibition?

AKgramma, I'd never heard of preparing tinctures by the phases of the moon. Care to share?

Say what? PLEASE don't tell me that I cannot use coconut oil for cannabudder!

Tinctures of any kind should be started at the dark moon, so as the moon progresses, the innate energy increases, drawing out more of the essence of the herbs. This should be allowed to brew, capped in a mason jar, in a dark, semi-cool place for at least a month before use, then you filter out the plant matter through cheesecloth, replace the cap, and store in the fridge or other cool, dark place. I found a lower kitchen cabinet against an outer wall was good for brewing, and the back of the fridge for long-term storage.

There are a number of things you can do with the tincture: drink it straight, evaporate it down till you just have the plant oils left, or mix it in your cooking and baking.

I find that it takes too long to let the alcohol evaporate naturally, so I put it in my mini-crock pot on low, and check it every couple hours. Keep it away from any kind of flame, like a gas stove, or you'll blow yourself up.

You can use it. You just benefit from using some competitive inhibition to keep the enzymes that metabolize the cannabinoids busy while the cannabinoids are slipping past. Cannabis is a powerful medicine. It's going to work at healing you regardless of the amount of bioavailability you have, which will be dictated by your delivery method and any steps you take to improve absorbtion rates. Competitive inhibition is one of those steps that will enhance any delivery method.

Edibles, on their own, have a bioavailability rate of around 12%. Use a better carrier oil - and coconut oil is a better choice than butter - and include lecithin, and you can increase that rate to between 60-90%. This puts edibles into a different class of medicine. It also increases the potency of the edible, so you can use less and get more benefit.

How does that translate into using gelatin capsules as a delivery method? Forget smoking, dabbing, etc. Capsules seem to be the safest and most healthy way for me to get the medicine in me.

You're making that mini crockpot sound very enticing. I have a cup warmer that does a good job of evaporating the solvent. I have some tinctures made with ethanol, and they burn enough that they're sitting unused. They worked, but I didn't enjoy them the way I expected. I may evaporate one of them down and make an elixer.

I'm making a glycerin one too. I pull that one out every day and roll it back and forth between my hands to get it all mixing while I fill it with strong intention to be a medicine perfectly suited to my needs. It's been about a month now, but I'm letting it go two months. Then I'm gonna strain it out, fill with fresh plant material and run it for another two months. It's my favorite, Dark Devil Auto, and I want it to be fabulous! :laughtwo:

Oooo...... I'll be able to do a Carnival tincture this year. :slide: And Carnival oil. :yahoo:

Do you shake the brewing tincture many times a day?

Oh my! I opened a Pandora's box! LOL!

You can shake it, if you wish, and it's probably a good idea for a few days until the dried plant material gets mixed well into the liquid. I think its a matter of personal preference, and if you remember to do so! LOL!

I found your easy capsule recipe a few pages back, and I'm adding it to my own. it is very similar to what I started out with before I used cannabudder. In fact, I still have some of the no-filtered infused capsules left.

My next batch I'm filtering. Easier for me to deal with.

I'm going for it today. Four capsules, right off.
