The Mustard Tiger's First Dirty Indoor LED Grow - Fall 2016 - Extra Greasy!

Wow, you got a lot on yer hands for a rookie,, seriously,, into it with both feet,, you will learn quickly grasshopper, no choice,

I have taken clones from flowering plants,, that is not a look I have seen there, just my experience is all, looks like a serious issue of some kind, tho I have no clue of what. It can be oh so difficultfor the younguns to recover from less than ideal experiences, poor things,,

My advice, focus on the healthy ones, they need you most

Interesting school stories, best karma sent friend,, cheers

HI M T
I haven't used any bought nutrient, only what I have in my kitchen. My ladies look happy. I am happy for my first time growing.
Used coffee grounds lots of N let it dry and spread it on top of soil.
Banana peel dried has 49% K in it.
You can make tea out of peel too. 4 banana peels 1 liter of water boil for 5 minutes cool, strain and keep in fridge.
It can be used as foliar or watering fertilizer.
Cal mag from eggshells and apple cider vinegar.. Emilya has a good tutorial on that.
And horse manure.. that is all I have given.

Not to mention urine,

Who said that?? Was not to mention that.

Out o da bag now I guess,, anyhoo, I do it, yep, I said it,, no Secret actually, the subject comes up now and again,, i use it about 1/15 diluted for all my veg watering, and about a 1/50 solution for near all of my foliar feeding,, what can I say, my plants are always healthy, for whatever reason

I use only minute amounts of urine solution for watering my flowering plants,, urine is very high in nitrogen, so backing off during flowering seems to work, tho my flowering plants are so very beautifully darkish green, tho not over dark, imo

This is great info people! I thank you both for your input. Sure thing I'm over my head a bit, but I think complete submersion is the best way to learn. I decided after about 3 weeks or so that if I'm gonna do this, I'm going all in.

I'm gonna keep all these clones going. I figure they will weed themselves out, if they can't make it. If its not the flowering deal, then perhaps a nutrient issue. I'm just gonna let it grow and observe. With no extra nutrients than whats in the soil. If these clones don't work out, I have a mother plant thats in veg and its very plentiful. So there is more clones available. I also have those seeds on the way and I have more bagseed to run if I want another surprise.

I am definitely going to switch over to "my kitchen" organic fertilizer. Those are all things I have. Why didn't i think of this before? I am willing to use urine. But its only as good as what I put in myself! Guess ill have to eat and drink better... Not a bad thing at all.

What do you think about if this would be the start of week one of veg.?

Flowering Day 39

Good Morning People!

I wish you all a fine day, one closer to the weekend!

So, I haven't posted anything recently. Had some things to take care of and time just slipped through my fingers. I have however been doing some work on the ladies. Little experiments to see what I can do to increase yield for the next time around.

The other day I removed a substantial amount of growth from the underside of a plant that wasn't really thickening up. My theory, there was energy being used in the wrong places and this would spur growth. I think it will do something to help what seems to be stunted growth, but I think there is more going on. It just has no girth.

After doing a bit of research, I realized that I may have been misdiagnosing a nitrogen toxicity or "the claw" for a sulfur deficiency. I mean everything points to this, so, Occam's Razor.

I found this out during last night's dark cycle and once the lights come back on I will be half nute watering with cal-mag and just a sprinkle of Epsom salt (1/8 tsp. per gallon). I'm really hoping this helps the one plant. If so I can do the same for this other plant that is filling out but has problems too.

It's main stem and most of the branches are a super blood red. These are the two plants that I had to cut the tops off at like week 2 of flowering. (I wonder if that has any connection to the redness?) I would just double up the cal-mag but I read that too much calcium can cause nute lock. I will also be lowering the nitrogen level. I don't think they need nearly as much nitrogen with about 3 weeks left of flowering.

The other plants are doing really well. The one Indica main cola is thick like a soup can and glittery. The other little shoots are thickening up and getting sugary. The 5 ft tall Sativa has a main cola about 12 inches long and like 15-20 branches. Yesterday I took off a good chunk of fan leaves on the lower branches. I only removed the big ones and I hope this relieves some of the weight and spurs growth to the colas. Again, experimenting...

I was looking all over for an Excel template to help keep track of things. Couldn't really find one that I liked. So, I made one for myself. It can keep track of each individual plant or a whole grow if wanted. It takes the date the file is made and automatically calculates a few critical dates. Most important, the harvest date! There is also a table to keep track of watering, temp, ph, notes, etc...

I will be posting some photos later when the lights come back on. I am so close to the end, I really need to start thinking about harvesting and curing. I think I have a good idea of how to handle this, but if anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears! I'm constantly searching for more hints or tips. Personally, I think this is the most important part of the whole grow. I've seen the nightmares some have been through, and after 3+ months of work to lose it all at the end is mortifying...

Ok, until then, take care! :Namaste:

There are many good threads here and also some nice videos by pigeons420.:Namaste:

Thanks! I think I've watched some of them. I'll prob watch em again, like 3 times...

you mean the bud washing? think if it this way,, the fruits and veggies you buy, do you wash them before eating?
I am sure the answer is yes. Bud washing takes care of pest sprays, dust and they all say buds dry more evenly and taste a lot better when dried

Yeah, I totally agree with the idea. I don't have any pests, so I don't need to spray (knock on wood). There probably is dust so I will be considering this process. Why not, right? I like experiments.

Flowering Day 40

Hello fellow greenthumbs! (I say this with the utmost respect as I am a total newb):adore:

Things are progressing well. The ladies are smiling! I think that trimming off all that lower growth has in fact spurred on the upper growth. This makes me happy as I was losing faith in those sativas producing. I know the actual bud formation is all about the genetics of the plant, and I have no idea what these plants truly are. I am just speculating they are sativas based on their appearance. If anyone has any idea what any of these plants are, I'd love to hear what you think. I know it's all speculation at this point.

Here are pictures of the sativas. If you recognize the strain, let me know.

Here is the indica. She is getting bigger exponentially. It's going to be fun to smoke her!

These are the clones I started back in October. They have been through a bit. They were cut right before I started the flowering. I didn't have the medium yet for the clones to go into so they just lived in water in a cup for the better part of a week. Slowed everything down waiting for the tent stuff. Eventually I got the veg tent ready and put them and the mother in there.
The clones looked pretty rough in earlier photos I posted. Now they are turning around quick and the new growth looks healthy. However, I will prob only keep a few of the sativas. The mother plant is just like the indica so I can always get cuttings off her.
I wonder if eventually I'll just have a whole bunch of choice mother plants that I just cut off when I need to. Or, do I avoid doing that and take cuttings perpetually from my plants about to go into flowering?

Here's a couple pics of the veg. tent. Mother on the left. Clones on the right. I'll be lowering the clones soon. The T8 LEDs are doing the job just fine. Very bright!

I took some pictures of the bright red stalks. They are intense red. I added cal-mag to the watering today and it might take a while before I see results if it is a sulfur issue. I couldn't find my Epsom salt so I will go get some and add that for the next time. I'm sure once I come home with a new bag of the salt, I will find my opened one. Murphy's Law.

I have received some seeds from a buddy and two have popped their taproot. I am ready to go with that once they grow a little bit more. Many thanks to him. He shall reap the benefits, guaranteed!

I was looking around for an Excel grow template and couldn't find one that was really worth using. So, I made my own. I think it's pretty cool. It calculates, from the day the file is created, a bunch of critical dates. You can make multiple sheets so you can keep track of different plants or whole grows if you want.

Here's a screenshot of it. I have no idea how to upload the file though. I would share it if I could.

Well that's the update for now. I really hope you all the very best!:Namaste:

damn that's a lotto pics,, plants look just great,, clones too,, cloning is a challenge, or can be,, great job,,

those 'sativas', yep, i agree that they sure look sativaish,, the flowering pattern does too,, you might be looking at twelve weeks flowering or more maybe,, your patience will be tested indeed

lookin just fine friend,, grow home

you might be looking at twelve weeks flowering or more maybe,, your patience will be tested indeed

Ok, I was thinking it was going to be a little bit longer. Patience indeed...

Did you ever get your ordered seeds :scratchinghead:

My last order of seeds finally arrived the exact day that I was told, by the seed company, to contact them if the seeds failed to arrive. From all I have read, seed companies are very good at maintaining customer satisfaction,, karma sent for seeds to arrive
