Oh, it's not so bad. Kind of cool seeing it all work. Something completely unexpected happened after I watered with my homemade Calmag/phosphate with amino acids (egg whites). Eggshells; rinsed, heat sterilized, pulverized, and treated with 5% acetic acid (vinegar). Harley Smith of NPK Industries RAW says adding amino acids with Calcium greatly increases uptake of water and then everything else or something like that.EWWWW.
After I feed my witches brew the plants were nearly dry the next morning and the humidity in the tent was up from 38 to 50 RH. I watered again about noon and the RH went up to 60%. This is pretty strong evidence that my experiment was a success. Visually I think the flowers got bigger, maybe wishful thinking. Numbers tell the tale. Water uptake increased in a dramatic fashion. Will it continue?
I should check the chemistry on this to be certain, as a bonus, by using this method I am actually adding phosphorous at the same time as the calcium. Acetic acid reacts with the egg shells making a proper pH solution of Calcium acetate, magnesium and phosphorous.
I say it again, do not do this at home unless you are courageous enough to fail miserably.
I am going old school here. What did my grandmother have on the farm that she would have used? Not much went into a compost pile. A lot simply went straight onto certain areas of the garden.
Not that old, still learning.
