The Mountain: Grow Support From The Over 50 Club

72 years, still going strong.
If it weren't for cannabis growing I would probably be spending my days in some slizzy bar drinking beer and smoking cheap cannabis.
Now, I spend my days looking after these ladies.
Current grow.

I love my hobby!

Old guys rule, 67 in December and still growing stronger than ever. Now I grow for meds. CBCs Instead of the THC high witch I still enjoy occasionally at a lower rate.

Hi Uptheholler :ciao:

I have 2 questions for discussion.

Do you have any tips for home composting?

Does Cannabis have any companion plants that are useful in the grow room to keep bugs off, etc?

:thanks:

:Namaste:
Sorry if I'm late...but marigolds will attract any pests away from your cannabis plant. I currently have a marigold in with my Skunk #1 it's doing just as well if not better than the skunk lol

I used marigolds this year to try to help in a battle against leaf hoppers.

The lesson I learned is to spray the marigolds at the same time you spray your plants. Without that I was just providing them a 4 star bed and breakfast rather than a 5 star. They moved right back in when they could. Once I started spraying the marigolds too, I saw sustained lower bug pressure. Ymmv.

If I understand correctly, the marigolds unsprayed provide a home for leafhoppers?
I know that marigolds repelle quite a few types of insects but not leafhoppers? Idk

As it turned out, yes. It was my initial belief that they would be repelled, but it became pretty apparent from the leaf damage on the marigolds that they had become the secondary food source. The pansies that I had for beneficial attraction were left alone by the leaf hoppers.

Corn is a great companion crop. pot will thrive with corn. But tomato's should be stayed away from. I grew with both . the corn was great. and hides the pot well. But tomato's will give the pot an acidic taste . Taste like your smoking the tomato plants. At least that's my experience. As for bugs, I use ladybugs. You can have 9000 delivered to you door for 42 dollars . When you buy at a store, you will get dead bugs. Get them delivered and they are all live.:Namaste: woops I just saw grow room. I was thinking of outdoors

It does grow quite well with corn. Put a few things is you have to do with the corn borers which bore into the stalk and hollow out limbs. but then you come home that one day and you look though there are you walk over there and they've harvested the corn. I guess it depends on what part of the country you live
