The Mountain: Grow Support From The Over 50 Club

I grow between 25 and 35 plants in a season and I make a good use of them, but I'd never be able to smoke all of it without some help :laughtwo::tokin:

It's all about what your needs are. If you don't like pushing the numbers then stick to it.

I need to figure out where I'm going with my grow hobby so I have a question for those of you that have been around the block a time or two.

After you get the first couple years down and you have some stash tucked away, how many plants do you generally grow at a time, and how often?

Our legal limit is 12 plants so naturally that is what I've been growing, but that is way more then what I can use. Now that I have tried a few strains and have an idea where I'm going I think maybe 2-3 plants in 5 gallon pots would be more fun and not quite so much like work.... would also have more time to fuss over them (good or bad.)

Do you ever get to where you only have 1 or 2 plants growing at a time.... just because you enjoy growing them? I don't mean to get into how much you smoke, eat, etc., I'm just curious... how many plants do you usually have going at once for your own use?

Thanks,
Beav

Thanks
I've got a few lbs in storage but my problem is that I like to smoke a variety. So right now in veg I have over 15 varieties easily. And I have bought more seeds lol. Now that my storage is great if I end up with too much to store I will just hash it and store that vacuum sealed in the freezer.
So I will keep doing 10-12 until the freezer is full. It's fun to have an over abundance so you can just experiment with it. I have heard that juicing fresh buds can be extremely healthy for you. Hmmm.

Hey Beaverislander! :ciao:

I started growing 2014 Spring and now I have about 400g stashed away in jars and another 300g in the freezer waiting to be processed into butter. This year have harvested 4 plants and will harvest another 4 in the autumn. 6 auto plants a year is probably about right for our annual needs, but like Brightlight I have so many seeds and still doing the rounds of different strains.....

Now that I have started making butter and the waste factor is out of the equation, I'll probably grow another 2 - 4 of DP and HSO cold resistant srains in the Autumn. Anything that's not top shelf stuff or is more than our needs will be made into butter and popped in the freezer, my butter has been in the freezer for 6 months and the potency is totally unchanged.

I think I'll be keeping it at 12 plants a year, so far we've always got 4 strains jarred it's all good.

Hi All, thought I'd post some photo's from my first grow and ask for your advice. They're tiny perfect girls about 6" high and the buds and leaves look wonderful. Before anybody suggests it my next attempt is going to have a significantly better light source, I'm going from 4 T8's to a 1000 W HPS.

Hello all over 50's!! Hope I'm in the right place?? i am a total newb!! going into my second grow, my first was ffof soil with a 600w hps in a 4x4 room and was pretty darn awesome!! two more weeks until harvest and the girls a rocking top colas almost as long as my forarm!! needless to say I am Hooked!!! So i got some Beans from a good supplier. LEMON DIESEL and WOODY OGas they have always been good to me for my ailments. What I'm looking for is any strain specific advice from anyone who has experience with either of theese!!! Tips Tricks???
thanks to all of you in the 420mag community!! Y'all Rock!!:thumb: Padwonfarmer but I'll be a Jedi one day with help from all of you thanx again!!

OGs need to be fimmed after 2nd or 3rd node. They should be very lightly feeded with nitrogen. Lower RH works very well and upper temps. I'd provide a lot of calcium/magnesium, sprayed with compost tea, and occasional shot of potassium. LST would come in handy as soon as these stalks start getting speed. Dry/wet cycle in veg and then regular watering with big amounts until they stop putting on weight. Lowering humidity by thevend helps them to get into nice terpenes production. Unfortunately I never grew anything close to Sour or Lemon Diesel.

appreciate all the info 23 exactly the kind of thing i was looking 4 this is the info for the lemon got it off the website any insite is welcome This indica-heavy OG cross was created by backcrossing an early OG x 3 into our California Sour (Mexican Sativa x Afghan) mother. The result is a pungent, diesel-dominated beauty with immense potency and flavor. Infrastructure development is relatively symmetrical, allowing for three or four separate terminal colas, even in tight spaces. Well-suited to sea of green and SCROG. thanks again.:bigtoke:

Looks sativish, so SCROG ot LST shoul be good to go with.

HI GUYS! i am new here....I am glad i have someone to talk to...
Can you upload images of plants so someone can tell you if it is fine for its age?
I mean mine seem to be fine for being just 16 days old... But i would like someone more experienced to tell me....

thanx! i know how to upload photos...but can i....Can i ask here or will you tell me that you have to post there or there and stuff...

I would like to know if you can move a plant from outdoors to indoors...i have HPS 600WATTS I know i have to watch out for the light schedule but will the plant get stressed??

If i do move indoors Can i start changing the light schedule from 12-12 to 18-6 gradually???

Are the plants more vulnerable when flowering??? so do i have to be in a stable light schedule when flowering so i dont fack up everything???

And can i upload a photo of some 2 and 1/2 weeks old plants???

Hello everyone. Hope everyone is well. I haven't skimmed through all pages of this thread, but I will be sure to do so! Love, love, love, and I can't exaggerate love enough learning about this fun new hobby of mine. I'm a disabled veteran and my income is limited, which is why becoming an "expert" in the matter is such a huge deal to me. Trying to learn as much as possible! Let me stop my introduction and get down to business. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I have a question - I'm currently using a 60x60x170(room) esl 125w 6500k for my plants in my room. The room is fairly small, but I am not having too many problems with the heat since there's an A/C unit. My question is... Should I be using a 2700k as well? I have both... The 2700k is 200w though. Have only used the 6500k since I started my grow. Can I use both? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

I read on another thread that 2700k is used for the "growth" phase of the plant? I thought it was the 6500k(white) (since it simulates the same spectrum as daylight), and then the 2700k(red) for flowering? Would love to hear some feedback on this topic. I want my ladies to have the best conditions for growth. Thanks in advance!! Awesome forum!!!!
