The Mega Crop Thread

So after being disappointed with my latest nutrient line I've made the switch.
It was time for rezzy changes for my OG Cheese grows so I decided to swap my nutes over to MC four weeks into flower.

Both my cloner experiment and the big girl were showing signs of deficiencies. This leaf is off the cloner.

For round one I mixed it all up in 5 gallon batches using straight tap water coming out the faucet at 380ppm. Since I'm 29 days into flower I used 6 grams per gallon and PH'd down to 5.80 We will see where that takes us and go from there.
I'm excited to see the changes in the plants over the next few days.

I've also got three baby Biscotti plants in the veg tent that are too small to feed yet but will get on the MC nute train here shortly.
I love the ease of the one and done system.

You guys have been killing it with the MC & hopefully I will too!!!

The MegaCrop burnt tip dilemma?

I am very interested that we have a @GreenleafNutr rep here because I am both a fan and critic of MegaCrop because although I am getting some good yields my plants seem to be giving me burned tips that lead to yellowing leaves and I don't know what the plant is trying to tell me from it.

Here are my two current budding plants; the one on the right is my OG Kush that is just a week or so from harvest and it is obviously suffering from yellowing leaves. When it was about a month into budding and I was giving it 5.5g/gal it started getting burned tips but was otherwise healthy so I thought I was overfeeding it so I cut it back to 5g/gal for a few weeks and then the leaves started turning yellow and I did some research and found certain deficiencies also could cause burned tips so I started feeding it at 6g/gal and slowly raised it to 6.5g/gal and it seemed to slow the yellowing but not stop it.

So I decided to strictly follow the MegaCrop guidelines for my NL plant budding with my OG. It is now about 6 weeks into budding and I have been giving it 6g/gal as suggested and now it is getting burned tips which usually leads to yellow and dying leaves and I don't know if it wants more or less MegaCrop? Also, a few leaves are showing some pinhole-sized brown spots on the inner part of the leaves. I am using V-2.

My feeling is it needs more MC but I would love an expert opinion because I am at the recommended dosage? I did follow the chart I posted from MC exactly for its whole life. My dilemma seems to be whether I give my plants less or more MC I end up with burnt tips and yellow leaves starting early to mid flower. My medium is ProMix HP.

To me Homer, it's getting too much N and not enough Ca. You would have to reduce the MC and add some Calmag. That would be how I handle it.
I don't doubt your recommendation because I just don't know but I am under the impression that MC V-2 is designed so you just have to change the dosage for any problem. Your solution kind of defeats the purpose of an all in one product?

Your a week from harvest? That's normal fade my man.
I was wondering that but I am referring to the NL that is only about six weeks into flowering.

Yup, and that's why I'm just an end user. Some plants are different. Some may need more Ca or Mg and to get that you have to add lots more MC. But then your N load gets too high and you burn your plants.

I appreciate the suggestion Sauga and I know you know your nutes so I bet you are on the money but I am interested in what the rep has to say. I read some confusion about whether RO water needed cal/mag so maybe it is in combo with Great Lake water. In case anyone thinks it's relevant here is the water report for my area.

@Homer Simpson The secret may be in how you water. So you are in Pro Mix. How much runoff are you getting each watering? If you are like me, you don't feed to the point of 25% runoff each feeding. If you have no or little runoff each time you are watering, you can get some build up of unused nutes in your media. Eventually you will get some burnt tips feeding at the 5.5-6g per gallon. To solve the issue, about every 4th watering, I run 2 gallons of plain tap through them and then feed 1 gallon of my feed after that. So I'm putting 3 gallons of liquid through a 5 gallon pot. That gives me real good runoff to help rinse and reset the Pro Mix and avoid buildup. Once I started doing that, my burnt tips went away and they stayed green the whole time.

You may be on to something there farside because I get little to no runoff. Since it worked for you I will give it a try. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. :)

First thing I thought when I saw it too, way too green...it doesnt have that MC green. So drop your dose back to the 5 ish range again, and calmag it. I agree with Saugs.

I just think a light Calmag'ing is a insurance policy. 1 tsp/1 gallon during flower is pretty good insurance imo. Or.... do like I do, molasses splash.

I dont have the expectation that MC is a one and done thing. Each plant will decide that for us. In the meantime, its pretty dang close.

Thank you for the input, Baron. I tend to agree with you and Sauga because neither less nor more seems to solve it but it is promoted as a one in all and @InTheShed seems to be using it alone so I am going to hold off till I hear from the rep.

Before I buy calmag though, I think I will try farside's flush method first.
